It has taken all my sites I us on the internet once I log in and turn them into just words no graphics or anything.

Please update to the latest version of Norton and please provide more information to assist you better.

Is there a conflict between Firefox and Carbomite?

I have been having problems with unresponsive script errors in Firefox, in both normal and Safe modes. I got the idea that one of my background programs could be causing the problem, so I disabled all of them and then enabled them individually. Enabling Zone Alarm did not cause a problem, so I enabled Carbonite. Sure enough, the unresponsive scripts returned, in both normal and Safe modes. Is there a known issue between Firefox and Carbonite that causes unresponsive scripts and, if so, what can I do about it short of disabling Carbonite? Thanks for any help!

Firefox, Chrome and Internet explorer are all types of Browser; for use (mainly) on the internet, other modern browsers are Safari & Opera.
Just to confuse things slightly, Windows Explorer, is the name of the software that is usually used to look at content (files & folders) on Windows PCs.

Difference between Firefox and Safari when viewing iWeb created content.

Greeting Mac fans,
I've noticed that my iWeb pages load 2-3 times faster when viewed in Firefox than Safari. I find this a little suprising.
Also, my hit counter shows when the page is displayed in Firefox, but not in Safari.
Any ideas?
All content was created using iWeb and is hosted at my dotmac account. I have a domain name and I'm also using "masked URL fowarding"

There are two things that I think are at play
here...
First, the difference in loading times between
FireFox and Safari.... I haven't noticed that huge of
a difference myself, but what I have noticed is that
FireFox is much faster at pulling up cached
material....or maybe figuring out whether to pull
from cache vs. anew. I've noticed that FireFox also
hangs on to cached material more tenaciously than
Safari, meaning that sometimes I have to go in and
empty FireFox's cache in order to see something
update...I have to do this much more often in FireFox
than Safari.
Second, about your counters. If you turn your
masking off from your domain forwarding, you .Mac
counters will be visible to all. Using masking will
make them invisible to certain browsers under certain
conditions.
James, I guess I should download and use Firefox, but remember feeling burned the last time I did. I downloaded it, and soon after, things went awry with my computer. I am hoping that the were unrelated events, since Leo Laporte, the KFI techie guru, also recommends using Firefox for various reasons. He says that it is very safe because, basically, it is "dumb" (his words). But he meant that it's lack of bells and whistles made it go very fast, and made it avoid all the problems of Internet Explorer.

Firefox is basically a browser.And Firefox OS is an Operating System.You can install Firefox in your SGS3 just like an android application.But if you want Firefox operating system on it. then you have to flash the ported Firefox OS on your device. Then it will be a completely different standalone operating system.you cannot install android applications on it.

Colour- strange difference between Lightroom and all other programs/windows

I have a strange problem with the colours in Lr. In the program everything looks good, the colours are the ones that i want to achieve, but when i export the pictures as jpeg (srgb), the tumbnails of these pictures seem to be fine (same colours as in Lr). However, when i open the jpeg (eg in picture viewer or in photoshop) all of the colours are different than the ones in Lr or the tumbnails. On a different computer, the jpegs have the same problem.
Any idea how to resolve this problem? Can I change the colour management of Lr itself (not the external editors)?

From LR in Develop module I press cmd e to create a TIFF to edit in PS CS3. Edit with LR adjustments is selected. After a while the TIFF appears beside the CR2 Canon 5d raw file.
Still in LR flick between the two and the difference is readily apparent. I notice that all the tiff presets are at 0 i.e. in the develop module as I would expect them to be. But the TIFF image looks sharper and in areas of detail less saturated. I think the decrease in saturation is more a side effect of sharpening.
The new TIFF opened in PS looks exactly the same as the TIFF in LR. But both are different from the raw file they were created from as seen from the LR develop module.
In LR I have applied some masking and a moderate amount of sharpening to the CR2 raw file. I do note that applying sharpening in LR does not seem to change anything except the 1:1 and higher mags unless the sharpening is extreme. In other words I think the imnage as displayed at lower magnifications e.g. Fit to screen is not a realistic representation of the overall effect of sharpening, even when rendered on a large monitor (30") wide gamut monitor. If I am right this is a significant problem. I note that BibblePro perviews reflect the effect of sharpening on the overall image more accurately. (So it is possible.)
(FWIW: My preview settings in LR are quality high, 2048 pixels.)
EDIT: Yes I am correct, the images look the same at 1:1 but not at lower magnification. So guess the LR preview rendering machine does not quite match the preview rendered from the newly created TIFF.
Still knowing this does not help, it just means what I see on the screen in LR at lower magnification than 1:1 is not accurate.

I checked the site with multiple browsers but was not able to find out any layout difference problem , can you please post some screenshots and add some more details as which page content is not rendering correctly on which browser ?

Data conversion for communication between Java and C/C++ program

The real problem, i guess, is about data type conversion between Java and C programs. For instance, and int is supposed to be 4 bytes in Java, and also in C/C++. But, as far as I know, the size of and int in C depends on the processors architecture, so if it were a 64 bit arch., size of and int, double, etc. in C, would change. The real scenario would be a communication between a 32 bit machine (Java) and a 64 bit machine (C/C++).
First of all, is this assumption correct?
If so,
how is it possible to deal with this problem in Java?
Is there any way to know 'type length' automatically? or
would it be necessary to modify the Java program to work with a C program in 32-bit or 64-bit arch?

I understand what you mean, also the topic you referenced. I will explain the situation a bit more. The protocol is already defined: (16 bits message size, 16 message id, 32 bit time, etc.); it is also defined in C (structures and so on). So it would be easy to write my Java code using the specified protocol in bytes, and C types wouldn't be necessary to be considered. But, let's say that the C code can't be modified, and I thought (and don't know yet if its correct), that size of C types CAN changed depending on architecture. So if size changes for C types (code is specified in short, int, etc, and not in bit format), it all would be a mess, if I don't implement something in my Java code.

The situation is not ideal, I know, but is what I have; and I think I could have problems if I run the C program in other machines; so I would have to try to solve it whithin my Java Program.

Having a conflict between Firefox 4 and Endnote

After installing Firefox 4, when I tried to open Endnote (and yes I closed the program before installing Firefox 4) I got a message that Endnote was unable to open my library, check to see if anyone else is using it; if the problem persists use the recover library in Endnote. Well, I tried the recover library and it did not work. I did get my library back by moving the library to my desktop, I think all by references are there, however, I lost all my Groups, and the file attachments are all messed up.

I encounter immediate problems on installing Firefox 5. There were 3 Windows 7 crashes and I could not access Firefox. It was determined that there was a conflict between the anti virus program and the 5 version. There is no download for the older version 4 was not available. After trying several fixes, nothing worked.
One post indicated that Mozilla was not fixing Firefox 5 and that the fixes were made in Firefox 6 version. Reluctantly, I upgraded to six and , to my amazement, it works again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!! Hope it works for you.

Having difficulty switching between English and Chinese

Hi!
I have a requirement to change the front panel strings (captions) from English to Chinese, at the click of a button.
The PC specs are: Windows 2000, MSBC enabled with an IME. LabVIEW 7.1 (Will eventually be using LabVIEW 8.20 - does this make it any easier?)
I have done a little research on the NI web page, and have tried the following knowledge base article:

What I need to know is what this article means by "translating the text". This is what I've tried thus far:
Export strings to a file.
Edit strings in an editor that supports Chinese.
Save file as text (should I save it as xml instead?)
Import Strings back into LabVIEW
All that gets displayed is "???", instead of Chinese characters.
Any suggestions?

without scripting, no can do using the article you cited.
The solution is trivial but the implementation is not.
You will either have to update all of the captions or hide the captions and place string indicators where the captions would have been.

Gap issue between Firefox and IE

Hi
I am a newbie to the Dreamweaver stage.
Busy putting together my first website, but have an issue with spacing.
There is a gap between my logo and menu bar in Firefox, but displays normally in IE6.
Is there any way that I can resove this?
I messed around a bit with my CSS file, but to no avail.
I googled a bit on the net, and see quite a lot of people got issues with this...

See if that helps. It introduces you to the idea of setting zero default padding and margin using a global CSS rule. It's something that a lot of people use but it seems is now going out of fashion a little.
That might be a part of your difficulty. As I understand it different browsers introduce their own default styles and these are not consistent accross all elements or browser flavours. The disadvantage of setting all padding and margin to zero is that you have to put it back in where you need it. There's quite a lot of discussion to be read on the internets but for a simple page it works.
Of course, posting a link to your page would be a better way of enabling others to pin-point your problem.

It seems not so much difference. But INITIALIZATION block is peculiar to executables.

Column Problems Between Firefox and Explorer

First, I apologize if this is something that has been posted.
The search function doesn't seem to be working, so I've been unable
to check for previous posts on-point.
I am having trouble with the columns in a table layout on a
site I am designing. It's located at
www.staggsmarketing.com/fleishell.html. The columns render properly
in firefox, but not at all so in Explorer. If you view the Explorer
version, the problem is quite obvious, so I won't explain further.
If anyone can take a look at the site and suggest what I've
done wrong, I would appreciate it. It was designed in CS3, and I've
run all the standard dreamweaver tests (from the results tab) to no
avail.

Fpga: Communicating between fpga and third party program running on pc

I am using a C-Rio to control a planar robotic joystick. The goal is to use the joystick as a force feedback controller for a computer game running on a pc.
My program as is for now runs a program on the fpga to read the encoder values and run the pwm for the motors. An RT program reads those values and performs the control as well as it calculates the fwd and inverse kinematics of the robot.
What I would like to do now is to pass the x-y values of the joystick on a third program (computer game) that runs on a PC.Currently the game runs on LabVIEW but I would the system to be combatible with other programs written in different programming languages. I have been told that the best way of doing this is to setup a server. Is this the only/best way of doing this?
I would like to know what is the best way to communicate between a program running on a pc and a program running on the fpga for this type of application. What is the best way to pass along information from fpga to third party app running on pc and vice versa?

If you need every command to make it, then you should use TCP. I would recommend taking a look at the STM library that is floating around somewhere on the LabVIEW Tools Network.
