I seem to have lost a folder containing important photos!!

I've seem to have lost a folder containing important photos yet still have my camera roll photos. How can I get these back? I haven't deleted anything, it may have happened when I synced my phone to the pc. My phone is always connected to wifi at home and therfore backs up on icloud. However I have other devices in the house linked to an itunes account but my phone is linked to a different one.
These photos have sentimental value and I would hate to lose them . Please help!!

If those pictures were taken on that phone, creating or deleting folder will not remove those from camera roll, so check it.
If those were synced from pc - they are still in your pc's my pictures folder.
If those were synced from other pc, you need to find that other pc - same folder.
If those were emailed or imported from camera/sd card - they are still in camera roll.
Besides info above - if those pictures were in camera roll they may also be in iphone backup, that backup should be restorable or searched with use of multiple available on Google software programs. Those allow you to look in itunes backups. They also may still exist on the phone as not recognized by iphone files, until overwritten, there are programs for that as well. I can't recommend particulars, never used those.

Move the incompatible iPhoto version to the Trash, before you try to reinstall from the AppStore, but don't empty the Trash.

The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore Purchases tab with ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.

You are in the wrong forum if you are making a brochure, and you are not saying what version of Photoshop Elements that you are using.
You can repost your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and then move it from here to there.
While we are waiting for those decisions, here is something you to think about
1. Assuming Photoshop Elements 11 Windows.....
You should be able to click your sized down photo on screen to get a bounding box around it for additional resizing. And, if you click on the Layer for this photo in the Layers Palette, you should be able to see the photo's bounding box on screen.
Either one of those happening?
With the Move Tool selected, look to the bottom of the workspace where the Move Tool options are shown. Do you have a check mark next to "Auto Select Layer"? Check what is happening with and without the check mark there. Remember Move Tool is selected in this example.

Today's update to OS X (10.8.5) seems to have lost several of my important mailboxes

These were important, and unfortunately because this is a new MacBook, I hadn't yet procured a disk to do TM backups.

I found out why it did it to me: When it auto-logged me out to do the upgrade and then back in (no user choice provided) it logged me back in as a different (obsolete) user. Need to get rid of that, if I can figure out how...
Once I realized that and changed user names, all mailbox folders were back.

I seem to have lost most of my itunes library and cannot locate it

I recently backed up my ipad and iphone but seem to have lost most of my itunes music. Any ideas

That just means that iTunes can't locate the files. Have you perhaps moved, deleted or renamed a folder that contained the music you had in your library?
*however some songs are still on one of the iPods*
There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all the music that I had downloaded from my Cds. It was a lot of music! All I still have is the music that I had purchased in the itunes store. And before you asked. No, I did not have a backup. Never got around to do it.

Hi - I seem to have a similar problem. I was prompted to update to iPhoto 11 yesterday (don't know why yesterday, I'm in iPhoto all the time). So I followed the instructions, library updated, all existing events and albums are there. I uploaded some more pictures and created a few new albums and did some new year spring cleaning, moving stuff around etc. And I started making a calendar.
I've opened it up today, my calendar is still there as are all the new events, but the pictures are empty outlines. If I open up a picture I just get the "!" but I can still see the thumbnails showing in the slider in the bottom - I don't know if that means the source files must still be there somewhere, or if it just means it captured thumbnails yesterday.
I've gone into it via "show package contents" and there just don't seem to be any masters for an upload yesterday. I also just had a look in the last import folder, because of a comment from someone above. As I scrolled down through the folder the images were there and literally disappeared in front of me - by which I mean, the thumbnails were there as I scrolled down and then would turn into empty outlines...!
All my old folders are still there, thankfully (although they're of course the ones that are also all safely back up).
Although I have a timecapsule, my photo library is too big to keep on my hard drive, so I keep it on an external drive - so it only gets backed up when I do it manually (thanks Apple for that, I will never understand why it was designed to work - or not work - that way). So if the pictures have been lost then they are gone for good which is super-frustrating (I just got back from South Korea and was in the middle of sorting out all my shots from that trip). It seems that this can only have happened because of the update - I should have known better than to have pressed yes.
If you have any ideas, I'd be most grateful!

Can anybody tell me how I can locate my photos from I Photo in the Time Machine backups as I seem to have lost most of 2011 after installing Lion.

To recover individual photos open iPhoto and use the File ➙ Browse Backups menu option.

That will take you into iPhoto in Time Machine where you can search for the phtoos and restore them.
To restore the entire library, close iPhoto, go to the Pictures folder, enter Time Machine, go back in time till you get the library you want to restore, select it and use the Restore button.

You may have to try a general OS X troubleshooting process to see if the issue goes away by doing this...
Have you tried: starting the computer in SafeBoot mode, with shift key held down; a login screen should appear after a time, and then the regular desktop. At this point, locate Disk Utility in utilities folder, and run 'repair disk permissions' on the startup volume, usually the name given the hard disk drive as it appears on desktop. After Disk Utility is finished the permissions repair, restart the computer normally.
...The iTunes player has free support only through the duration of the hardware product's complementary or AppleCare extended plan coverages, so though you can download a newer version, that is not the same as free support for an issue. However, the iTunes Store or App Store has a different factor for their product.

There is an iTunes area in Apple Support Community discussions for more topics like this; except for when they involve a hardware product where an OS X is involved. If your computer is NOT a powerPC (an 'intel'-mac) the topic would more naturally need to be posted where that hardware and later supported OS X version topics get seen. So that is why one asks 'on what Mac running what version...' instead of writing four paragraphs in a wide angle reply. The details about your iMac and the OS X say more; without them, more questions arise.

I seem to have lost most of my library

I moved my iTunes files to a portable extrenal Hard Drive because i had to get the files off a work computer. But I seemed to have lost half if not most of my music files and all my playlist.Can I recover all that off my ipod? Please tell me how I don't want to reload all those CD's again. I have tried to look on the old C drive but nothing comes up any suggestions?

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

The Lion upgrade does not touch iPhoto. However, you may need to purchase an iPhoto upgrade.
Look in your /Home/Pictures/ folder for the iPhoto Library file.
