I seem to have two apple id's. How do I get rid of one?

I am trying to access the Cloud to find a lost document, but I seem to have two apple id's, one is verified. I can't access cloud. How can I do that? Is there any other way to find my document? It means another week of work if not.

Hi SGayleC,
It appears that your iCloud account on your Mac is still associated with the old email address.  On your Mac, In System Preferences, are you able to click on iCloud and sign out of your old account?   If so, you should then be able to sign in with your correct Apple ID and password.
I'm including some information on this below, and a link to our Apple ID support team if you need it.
OS X Yosemite: If you sign out of iCloud
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18999?viewlocale=en_US
OS X Yosemite: If you sign out of iCloud
If you sign out in iCloud preferences, your iCloud mail, calendars, reminders, notes, and documents stored in iCloud are removed from your Mac. If you have photos in My Photo Stream that aren’t imported, they’re removed from your Mac. Your bookmarks and Reading List remain in Safari, but the iCloud Tabs list of webpages open on your other devices is no longer available.
When you sign out of iCloud, you’re asked whether you want to keep a copy of the data for Contacts and Safari passwords. If you keep copies of the iCloud data, iCloud doesn’t keep the copy up to date with changes on your other devices.
Copy iCloud documents and data before signing out
Before signing out of iCloud, you can copy or archive iCloud documents and data to your Mac.
iCloud Drive: For instructions on copying documents to your Mac, see Store documents with iCloud Drive.
Documents and data you copy to your Mac aren’t kept up to date with changes on your other devices.
After signing out of iCloud on your Mac, you can still access your iCloud documents and data on your other devices set up for iCloud and on iCloud.com. If you sign in to iCloud again on your Mac, your iCloud documents and data reappear on your Mac.

I have 2 Apple ID's and want to get rid of one?  How do you do that?

    Stop using it.
Accounts cannot be merged, purchases made under an account cannot be transferred to another account.

  • I have two iCloud accounts.  How do I get rid of one?

Apparently when I moved from MobileMe to iCloud, I inadvertantly now have two Apple accounts.  How do I clean this up and have only one?

Since your phone has all your mail, calendar and contact info and you are signed in with your @me.com account all your data should also be on Apple's iCloud servers. Log in at http://icloud.com and confirm that all the data is there. Make sure that the data on iCloud is correct and up to date. If it is not let me know.
If the data is all there, then on your Mac, from System Preferences, log out of both MobileMe and iCloud. Now, launch Mail, iCal and Address Book and make sure all MobileMe and iCloud accounts have been logged out. You do that by checking the Preferences for each app. You should delete any data that is still in those apps since you will be pulling in fresh data from the iCloud servers.
Now in System Preferences, using iCloud, log back in using your @me.com account. This will sync your Mac up with all the data on the server and everything should work the way you want it to.

  • I have two itunes accounts.  How do I get rid of one?

I accidently have tow Itunes accounts and would like to get rid of one of the.
anyone have any ideas about how to do this?

Besides signing out of the account, you will need to delete the apps on the device that were purchased under that ID.

  • Does anyone else have two Apple IDs? I can't get rid of one of them. It's associated with my iCloud account and I can't fix it. The password doesn't work.

So, apparently I have two Apple IDs associated with my iPhone. One is an old aol address that got hacked and was shut down. Even aol doesn't recognize the email address anymore, and the password doesn't work. It's associated with my iCloud account, so now I can't access that account. My other Apple ID is with everything associated with my iPhone and everything works just fine. But now I can't get to my iCloud stuff. Has this ever happened to anyone else. The guy at the Apple store says he's never heard of it.

Does the alert refer to "Local Items?"

  • I have 2 apple ID's, how do i get rid of one?

I am really confused with the whole apple ID concept. I believe i have 2 apple ID's. One i had set up for my daughter and her ipod and one i thought was mine. Though my phone seems to have the ID i used for my daughter always in as default. I tried to change my personal ID and i lost all my contacts, so i had to go back. Can I just get rid of the ID i set for myself???? Im confused

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
I wouldn't really recommend using the same iCloud account, your contacts, calendars etc will all become merged and when one of you adds or deletes data, those changes will also occur on the other device.

  • HT204053 I have two Apple ID's and want to get rid of one of them. How can i delete the extra one ?

How can I delete an extra Apple ID ?
I just want to have one only for my Iphone and for my Mac.
    Thank you for any advice.

I went to the Apple support site last nite for a live chat.
    The tech there suggested 2 separate actions;
    Here they are, verbatum;
    # 1
    Go to,
    Store-ID-sign out
    #2
Change the password to a random string of numbers and letters and set up the other account on both services.
    So...
That's it. Neither suggestion worked for me so I'm going up to the apple store in Century City and see if one of the geniuses can straighten me out.

  • I have two apple Id accounts how do I merge them into one account

I have two apple Id accounts how do I merge them into one account

    you can't merge Apple ID's
    From the FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

    Hi Pierre,
There's no way to merge them yet, so all you can do now is make 1 of them the master ID for iCloud. You have to continue to use the other for previous iTunes, Mac App Store updates. Have you read:

  • I have two apple ids. How do I get all my itunes to one account?

I have two apple ID's. Most of my iTunes music was purchased using ID #1 and resides on my MAC. The MAC runs an OS so old that I cannot upgrade to the current version of iTunes. about 1/4 of my music was purchased using ID#2 (the current one) and resides on my windows based machine. Using the Home Sharing feature I can see all of my music on the Windows machine. However, upon upgrading to iPhone 6plus it seems that I only have music purchased via my phone (so about 1/4 of the 1/4 portion that is under ID#2). I have tried backing up to an external HardDrive, I have tried syncing using iTunes. I cannot seem to get all of my music on one account. Ideally, all of my music would be under ID#2, accessible by my MAC, my Windows based machine, and my iPhone 6plus....SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. I've read countless threads on the topic and nothing I try seems to work.

Sign out of the account you don't want and then Sign In with the account you want to use.

  • I started an account on iTunes when iPod first came available. Bought several iPods in that time. Eventually I changed my email address and continued to buy music and games.  Now I have 2 Apple ID. How can I get everything on one ID?

I have 2 Apple ID. One old on yahoo I don't use, and another on gmail I use regularly. How can I drop the yahoo Apple ID while still keeping all music and other apps?  I want everything on my latest apple devices and want to do so with just one account, Apple ID and password..

  • HT204053 I had a mobile me account and now i have two apple id's how do i make it just one?

When I signed up for icloud I was told that i could just use my mobile me account. The problem was that my mobile me account creates an address for me and now that address is my icloud id. In addition to that my itunes store address is different but it is also an icloud id, but i want just one id. is there any way i can merge the two?

The same thing happened to me because I had an Apple ID that was not an email address under which I had made all my purchases and a me.com address that I initially used to set up my iCloud account.  If you want to get all your purchases from the Cloud, then you need to do a couple of things:  first, change the Apple ID that you purchased all your stuff under to be an email address.  You can do that yourself by going to the page where you change your Apple ID.  I think it's applied.apple.com but if that's not it, just search for "My Apple ID" in the search box on the support page.  Sign in with your existing ID -- the one that is not an e-mail address -- and change it to an e-mail address.  Be sure to remember this Apple ID.  Then create your iCloud account using this Apple ID.  You should be able to get all your stuff to download using this account.
The problem with this is now you will NOT have an iCloud account associated with your MobileMe account.  If you're OK with that, you're good to go.  I think you still have time to manually download all your stuff from MobileMe.
Apple phone support walked me through this, so if my instructions are confusing you can call them and get them to walk you through it too.  It's a common problem.

I have two apple accounts because I had forgotten my information for one and became frustrated and set up a new one with a different email. How can I combine my accounts?

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.
