    Hello mariamac80,
It sounds like you cannot print from your network printer on your MacBook. Printer issues can be a but tough to nail down, but I would recommend trying the troubleshooting in this article named:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.

  • I have a networked HP L7780 all in one printer and I can not get it to fax through my Macbook Pro.  I have downloaded all the drivers and it has passed all the tests.  Every time I try to fax it shows the job paused.

I have a networked HP L7780 all in one printer and I can not get it to fax through my Macbook Pro.  I have downloaded all the drivers and it has passed all the tests.  Every time I try to fax it shows the job paused.  I can manually send and receive faxes but I can not do it through the computer.

Try deleting the printer, deleting the job queue and reinstalling the printer again.

  • How to set up LPD printer properly? I just upgraded to Snow Leopard from 10.4.  I can not get my laser printer to work.

OK, here is what I have found.  Since the printer is on an ethernet network it can not be seen since there is no more apple talk.  I must set it up as a LPD printer.  Xante tech support has told me how to do this but they are baffled by the fact that it will not print.  I am using a Linksys wireless/broadband router.
    These are my numbers:
    IP 192.168.1.110
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.188.1.1
    DNS Server" 66.103.237.2.66.103.251.130
Xante has suggested using 192.168.1.112 and the printer is found and the print queue is opened and the following message is in the print queue window: Network host '192.168.1.112' is busy; will retry in 10 seconds...  Nothing ever prints.
On this list I have seen a successful connection in the past through an airport connection.  I think that the number that Xante has suggested is not correct.
I am able to print to this printer through another computer on the network that has not been upgraded to Leopard.
    Any thoughts?  Thanks

The best answer to this question requires a little more digging.
More specifically, what spare inputs do you have on the TV, and what video card are you currently driving.
IMHO S-Video is going to give you about a poor a picture as you can get, mostly because of the limited bandwidth and the fact it's based around standard resolution TV (e.g. NTSC signaling).
The best experience would be via HDMI, but for that you'd need a video card with a DVI interface, plus a DVI -> HDMI cable. If you don't have a DVI-based video card and you're OK spending a few dollars that would be your best bet, although off hand I don't know specifically which card you'd need - most of the modern cards are PCI-X or PCIe and won't work in the G4.
If you don't want to replace the card then you'll need to let us know what kind of video card you have in it so that we can find the best match.

  • Print Service- SMB - Can't get jobs to print on shared HP printer via SMB

I have been banging my head on the wall on this one, and a call to Apple support ended up with a lot of diags followed by “It must be the printer driver, call HP”
Has anyone successfully shared HP Officejet/Deskjet/Photosmart printers from Mac OS X 10.5.x via SMB?
HP Officejet 6110 (also tried with Deskjet and Photosmart printers with similar results)
Connected to Mac OS X 10.5.2 server via USB
Drivers tested: HP All-in-one, Gutenburg, Foomatic
Shared via Bonjour, IPP, and SMB for testing (Need just SMB for deployment)
Connected to with OS X 10.5.2 non-server version
Via Bonjour/IPP connects fine and prints with any of the above 3 drivers
Via SMB connects and sends print jobs that never print
The Server is receiving the print jobs, you can see it in the log, and if you have cover pages turned on you get a cover page for each job
But, the job never actually prints anything
I don't understand why it would be the driver since the same driver prints out fine via bonjour/IPP
Also, if I connect the printer to a windows box and share it via SMB that driver works fine
Connecting to the same SMB share from windows with the HP all-in-one driver produces the same results, the Server receives the print but outputs nothing.
Using the generic/text-only driver will print just fine (can’t find a generic text driver for the Mac for testing)

    At least I try...
My setup is: Mac mini with OS X Server 10.5.2, HP DeskJet 895Cxi connected to the Mac via USB using the HP printer driver from the 2.7.1 package (yes, I had to downgrade(!) the drivers: the drivers bundled with Leopard do not(!) work with some (many?!) DeskJet printers as many others have also already discovered - see the postings in this forum elsewhere...).
The server is configured as a PDC. Samba is up and running, I can login as a domain user from the Windows clients.
Local printing with this setup works fine.
However, Windows clients can't print: same symptoms as yours. A cover page get's printed, but the spool data seems to end up in a black hole...
All I can see in the logs is the call to the "gziptoany" filter - and CUPS claims that it "exited with no errors". For me, it looks like it's eating the whole thing...
Upto now, I didn't find any solution in the net. I found some references that it should be possible to explicitely setup a "raw" printing queue and use this for the Windows clients, or alternatively to setup the clients with Postscript drivers.
Both seems reasonable to me, but these postings refer to Linux distributions and older software versions.
So for now I'm wading through the CUPS and Samba documentation, because I want to try to understand how these beasts are meant to be used and what Apple did to them.
I hope I will find a solution soon.
My "Plan B" is to get some nice little print server.
At first, when the printer was connected to one of the Windows clients, OS X could use it without problems even with the current drivers (HP 3.3.1 as well as the Gutenprint driver). So I would expect that some cheap "mini print server for Windows boxes" will also do for the server... oh, yes, still somewhat optimistic about getting something for my money...
If somebody else would be so kind and might try to help - here is an extract from my error_log with the - IMHO - relevant portion:

Are you using an Airprint-capable printer?  Is it on this list?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If it is, have you updated your firmware.  Most printers that say they can be used with Airprint need to have their firmware upgraded before they can actually print using Airprint.  HP's support pages provide the FW downloads you will need.

  • I have a hp photosmart D110 printer and I can't get it to print. It will not connect to my wireless

please help me get my printer to print and connectto my wireless

    Wnat router?
    What operating system?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
    I am employed by HP

  • Since updating to the new version the work web page that i use will only print 2 pages even if there are more. I can not get it to print all the pages in the document.

for instance....I have a documents that has 6 pages, I can scroll down and see all the pages but when i hit the print button it will only print 2 pages. I tried to change it in the setting part but there is no feature that allows you to change it.

For many years, Firefox has problems printing when some style rules are used. However, I am not aware of any changes for the worse in Fx4 (at least, until now I wasn't aware of any).
    A couple of thoughts:
    (1) Is it possible you were using an add-on in Fx3.6 that fixed this problem, but the add-on was disabled during the upgrade because it wasn't compatible? (Sometimes that can be fixed with a little hack.)
    (2) Are there any obvious settings differences that could be affecting printing, such as fonts, margins, or shrink-to-fit/percentage?
    (3) Does the workaround of selecting the entire page (Ctrl+a) and then choosing Selection under Print range in the Print dialog work? Unfortunately, this can slice through lines and images, but it often works around problems with style rules.
In the interest of saving paper, it often is useful to experiment with a PDF printer driver. If you don't have pdfFactory, you can install a trial version for testing: it lets you view the results without first having to save the file. (If you save with the trial version, there is a footer to that effect.)
    (4) Is it an HTML5 problem? You can toggle the HTML5 parser off, but this is a global setting, not site-specific. If you are familiar with about:config, filter on html5 and double click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle its value from true to false. This helps for some sites, but has no effect on others.

  • Can not get photos to print well on a Epson Artisan printer after OS X Yosemite

I have a Epson Artisan 730 Printer. After upgrading to OS X Yosemite all photos are printing poorly.  Color is very red based and unreadable. I have upgraded the latest printer firmware. I have upgraded Printer drivers (not sure of the version). I have uninstalled and installed printers several times.  Epson website implies they are committed to provided the latest support and drivers but does not say there is a problem.  This all started after Yosemite.  This is a problem printing from photoshop or printing a JPEG from preview or iPhoto.
I have completed the latest firmware (epson16787) and combined with Printer drivers (2.19) which has resolved the problem.  I am posting this to lend help to other having the same issue.
Epson Artisan 730 Firmware:  http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=182959&infoType=Dow nloads

There is definitely something wrong, but I couldn't tell you if it's your phone or your computer. I'm on 1.1.1 too and my phone still appears as a device in XP and behaves as it always has.
I can't recommend doing something Apple doesn't want you to do, *but if you are willing (as a last resort)* there is a way to access the file system directly and download the photo files in a way that is similar to how you would from an FTP site with FTP software.
It would require you to go to the site that puts installer on your phone. Once that is done install "open ssh" (to be able to connect to your phone and install "services" (to disable and re-enable ssh as needed for security purposes). Then use a program like winscp (works like other ftp programs but allows different types of connections - in this case an scp connection) to connect to your phone. The camera role is located in: \var\root\media\DCIM\100APPLE\. From there you can copy them to any location on your PC.
If you phone is showing up as empty when you connect it to your computer then there might be something wrong with the area the photos are stored in, or maybe it's too full. I don't know what the limit is or if there is a limit. Just bouncing around some ideas.

  • Can not get firefox to print to any printer

I have a laser jet 4000 shared by a windows 8.1 PC. Firefox seems incapable of printing to anything, I have tried the Microsoft XP writer the laserjet and nothing works. I have reset firefox and removed and reinstalled it. I am running firefox 30.0 I am getting ready to give up and find another browser. Even IE knows how to print seems like a basic function.

What happens when you try to print? Is there an error message, a beep, nothing at all? Or Firefox acts as though it's printing but nothing emerges?

  • I have a Mac Air.. with 10.10 and just purchased a HP laserjet pro M201dw  .. I can't get it to print duplex in pages or word.  In pages not highlighted. does in Adobe for pdf.  Help!

I have a Mac Air with 10.10 .  Just purchased a HP Laserjet Pro M201dw printer.  I can not get the duplex printing to work in Word or Pages.  It does work for PDF files in Acrobat Pro.  It won't for emails.  In Pages I see two- sided but it is dimmed.  I look at setups and it shows two -sided is off but can't find a way to change this setting.  In the printer setting itself, the duplex box is checked.  Need help.  Did notice the driver only goes up to 10.9 but it says on Apple site of supported printers this one is listed.
Appreciate help in solving this issue.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to give me some time and assistance.

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

  • I can't get this to print keeps telling me that my ip is not compatible with ip on pc

hello,  I am running windows xp  Ijust bought a HP Officejet 4500 G510n All-in-one series printer and I can not get it hooked up with my wireless network   It is telling me that my IP 169.254.162.171 which is not compatiable with the IP address 74.75.18.116 of the PC   I don't no how to change these things.  Please help

It sounds like the printer is not on the network since it has an address of 169.254.X.X which is a place holder in the printer.
What brand and model is the router?
Perform these steps on the printer:
Press the Setup button ( ) on the product control panel.
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight Wireless Menu , and then press OK .
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight Setup Wizard , and then press OK .
The Wireless Setup Wizard searches for networks, and then displays them in a list.
Press the Arrow buttons ( ) to highlight the network name (SSID) that you gathered in the previous step, and then press OK .
If prompted, enter the WPA or WEP key:
Use the alphanumeric keypad on the product control panel to enter the passphrase.
NOTE:Make sure that you enter the uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters exactly. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.
When you finish entering the passphrase, press OK .
This should connect the printer to a standard wireless network that is using WEP or WPA.  I recommend using WPA over WEP as it is more secure, but this is set in the router.
    Let me know what happens.
