I should add an application server to central XI. But I do not know which version of SAP netweawer to use in order to install (and which options...)
I know that used version is not newest (we are not using PI but XI so e.g we have (Integration Builder:Configuration and Integration Builder:Design).

just want to clarify that is is not correct that only one enqueue process can be configured on the CI.
Please see the documentation within transaction RZ11 for the parameter Parameter : rdisp/wp_no_enq
Short description : number of enqueue work processes
Parameter description :
You can use this parameter to define the number of enqueue work processes for the instance.
Ensure that a value >0 is only set on the central instance that provides the enqueue server (instance rdisp/enqname ). One enqueue work process on the central instance is normally sufficient (rdisp/wp_no_enq = 1); only in very large systems can a higher value be useful.

In first place application server 9.0.2 is desupported since 30th June 2007.So oracle would always recommend its customer to be on the latest versions.

The Application Server Instance is down - but it's NOT

Hi everyone,
Just yesterday, I installed the agent on a server that is running Oracle Forms and Reports Servers. In OEM, it shows that "The Application server instance is down", but when I go to the main screen for this OAS, all of the components are up. I wish I could include a screenshot to show you, but it looks like I can't.
What could be causing this? Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot?

When I open the default Mail App on my iPhone 4S I get the error "Cannot Get Mail - the connection to the server failed". OK, but which one? I have six email accounts (all of which have worked at one time) so which server is not connecting? It'd be nice if IOS told me! Any solution, please?

I may have solved the problem myself, only to find another one.
If I tap each of the accounts in turn, I find that it's the 'Exchange' one that's failing. trouble is, I can't recall what this does, or why I set itup, as i don't use MS Exchange. I suspect it's connected with syncing to either Outlook.com or Gmail, but I'm not sure.
BTW, I still think the error message should say which account is generating the error - Apple stuff is supposed to be easy and intuitive, and this isn't!

Failed to add an application server to the CI (UDBV8)

We try to install an application server to a CI/DB server (UDB V8.2, JAVA only)
The installation always aborts with an error message: error while connecting to DB ( no more details).
In the Oracle case we know this might because the listener is NOT up at the CI/DB server.
What can be the cause in UDB case since there is NO listener for UDB.

The db2tcpcm is used for remote connections so that is the process that is being used.
Check the following:
on the db server
db2 "get dbm cfg"|grep SVC
This is the services entry of the port the db is using. If it is a variable then get its value from /etc/services
Compare this against the following:
on the remote box
db2 "list db directory"
Get the node of the DB you are trying to connect to
db2 "list node directory "
get the services name of the node you are trying to connect to.
It should match the value of the services entry on the db-server

Report Application Server (RAS) is online but inactive

Hi,
Our BO runs on Unix. AIX5.3. A ccm.sh -start all starts all the servers without any error messages on screen or on the logfiles.
However, the RAS is inactive according to the server status page and I can't view a report in infoview.
The server however has a PID and is running. I've tried rebooting everything, but to no effect.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution? Where to look and what to try?

In CRS 2008 RAS is normally used when CR reports are bind to Live Office documents or when you use the CR Designer to build a report and export it to your CRS repository.
If you are talking about using the RAS over the CR SDK then you can do that as described in the SDK sampels you will find in the SDN.
If you refresh a report in the InfoView the Crystal Reports processing and cache server are used instead of the RAS.

Check the Tuxedo log to see what error it gives. To me it looks like you're trying to start the Workstation Listener on the same port as another service/process.

Add-ons Manager Says Java Needs Update, But Latest Version Already Installed

I have Java version SE7 U51 10.51.2.13 installed and working fine. Today I "upgraded" to FF 28.0. Now the Add-Ons Manager says Java is out-of-date, but when I go to the Java website, this is the very latest version available. I downloaded both the 32- and 64-bit versions anyway (though I had already installed them a month ago) and re-installed both. The FF Add-Ons Manager still has same warning: "Vulnerable- Update Now!" The Java Test page says I have the latest version, and it works.
So what the heck to do?

Never mind- found the answer. It's the same old silly runaround between Firefox and Oracle. The Firefox link send you to the wrong Java version (outdated) and you have to find the correct Oracle webpage that now has Java version 8 (actually v.1.8.0 plug in 11.0.2.132) and download and install THAT. It would be nice if this were simpler...

Hi,
I don't know fi you want to install the dialog instance on the same or on a different server. First, please refer to installation guide
in session "dialog instance installation" for step by step installation.
Note that if you want to install this dialog instance on an other server some directories in central system should be share such as: profile,global and
exe directory.

Our current production server is acting as both database server
and application , now due to performance issues we are planning
to add new application server along with older one ,keeping older as it
(we want to keep older server as database and application and newer one as only application).

Hi Jase,
In your case, you are installing a new Application server which is called Dialog Instance(DI) server. You better go through the original installation guides only, there it will be explained about Central Instance(CI) and DI installations.

Oracle Application Server 10g Cloning - Urgent

I have been given a new assignment which involves Oracle Applications server 10g, i am new to oracle application server and hoping that some one will please clarify my doubts.
i have to clone a production machine (Solaris 10) which has oracle AS 10g, this machine had oracle database 10g before and just the application server was installed on it, i have to clone a test environment for this machine, i have the following two doubts
1) Is it possible to just install Oracle Application server 10g on a machine which already contains oracle 10g database, if so then what about the database that gets installed when installing Oracle application server 10g.
2) How to clone the above production machine, should the oracle 10g database be cloned first and then oracle application server 10g cloned on the new machine?

The DB that comes with OAS as the infrastructure DB for it (I presume you are installing a full OAS with infrastructure and midtier both) does not affect the DB you already have on your system ... obviously ... as long as you install them in their separate homes.
2) I always say, this term cloning is somewhat loosely used in general communication meaning making copies. In OAS context, Cloning works for middletiers only. You cannot clone an infrastructure.
To make a redundant/alternate environment for OAS, you can do the following:
- a) either use the same infra on machine 1, and install another midtier and register with the same infra.
- b) or install a separate infra on machine 2, and also a midtier registered with it.
Here for the first option a), Cloning can be used because you can (*only*) clone a middle-tier. There are pros and cons for this setup, including that you share the SSO, and OID, and hence users and groups bases, etc on those two environments - something that you may or may not want. But then there are also some way-outs to avoid them or minimize their effects too. Please see the following reference for cloning and search on Metalink for how to minimize effects, once you get better familiar with the processes.
