I signed up for Games Center. How to un-sign and get my credit card info removed?

OK. I'm an idiot (with an IPad2).
I don't want to play games with other people but there was a chess board among the images for Games Center so I thought there was a chess program I could check out.
So now there is no point in me taking any risks and having my credit card info associated with Games Center, so how to I reverse my sign-up for games center and get my credit card info deleted?
I can't even find a way to edit the credit card info - and if I could I suppose they wouldn't accept a link to an incorrect number ...

The only way is to create an Apple ID to start with without a credit card. You cannot change to none after creating. You need to follow these steps for that. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534

You had signed for CC team in November 2014, unfortunately the CC for individual was also active, the charges for the months of November, December 2014 & January 2015 have been refunded. The individual CC has also been canceled, you will not be charged in duplicate from next billing cycle.

When I try to set up my wife's messages app, it tells me the apple ID is already in use and won't let me go through with it. Also, after the IOS5 update, my wife's game center login went away and syncs to mine and we cant figure out how to get it back to hers.

You will need to create a new Apple ID for your wife. This may require a new email address too. As for Game Center, there is a sign out dialogue on the main page if you tapon your ID.
