I sound like a chipmunk with BlueTooth

I've recently paired a blue tooth headset with my Macbook and recorded into GB 4.1.2. So easy to achieve but now I sound like a chipmunk - not just in pitch but also in the speed at which teh recording is played back. Now it's late at night here and I may be doing something wrong but I'm 99.9% sure I'm not. No FX nothing.
Hope there's someone who's had this too?

i'm not sure this is a problem you can overcome, it depends if the bluetooth device can be set for a higher sample rate. it's basically the same problem as described here:
http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#toofast
see if your device can be set to the same sample rate and bit depth.

  • Audio sounds like a chipmunk

Once in awhile while recording audio and a demo at the same time, the audio will speed up and sound like a chipmunk upon playback. I have been using both Windows 7 and Windows XP and both seem to have the same issue. It mostly occurs when clicking from one function of a website or clicking within a software program while demoing. Any ideas as to what the cause might be?

    Hi,
Could you please tell the version of your Captivate? any additonal details regarding recording mode, settings, devices etc?
    Please try-
-- to use a different external device to record again, I believe you used same device on both XP and 7 machines?
-- record just the Audio for a few slides -- Audio -- Record to Slides/Project
-- Do a test record for a different application as well, just to confirm, it has nothing to do with website.
    Thanks!

  • My podcasts download from laptop iTunes but play back sounds like the chipmunks!

I download podcasts to my laptop for use on iPhone, iPod and shuffle (different places, different situations). Only problem is that the playback on the iPhone is so speeded up, it sounds like the chipmunks! Any suggestions?

This is correct and it's got to be the stupidest tiny icon anyone could sabotage a nice podcast with - but thanks for nothing (i.e. useless crud).  But at least iPhone folks help one another out.  Thanks,

  • HD videos from Sony NEX-3 sound like the Chipmunks

My Sony NEX-3 720p MP4 videos sound like the Chipmunks. Video frame rate appears ok but the sound is way too fast. The files play nicely e.g. in Preview though.
iMovie imports the files nicely, using the internal SD reader in my iMac. However, the sound is out of sync in the imported files. From the sound of it, it seems the audio runs at least at 2x the speed.
Currently I use Handbrake for converting the camera clips into 25 fps m4v and then importing these into iMovie but it is a pain.

Can you tell me how you imported the video from your NEX-3 to iMovie?  When I try, the camera automatically opens iPhoto and imports it there.  If I open iMovie, all of the selctions are grayed-out so I can't import them.  I've tried getting the video straight from the camera but can't seem to do that either. Can you help?

  • Sounds like Darth Vader with a bad cold

I don't use Soundtrack Pro much but it's worked fine in the past for me. Today though when I try to record a simple V/O I sound like Darth Vader with a very bad cold after a hard night of drinkin' and smokin'. It's just awful and light years away from what it ought to sound like. I did just upgrade to OS 10.6.6, could that be the issue??

After all that it turns out that STP didn't like the way I had my input set-up. I'm using an M-Audio MobilePre USB interface and had it set to "stereo" and had the channels below (numbers 1-6) set as 1,1 (with the following 3,4,5,6 grayed out). I then reset those channels to 1,2 and while I get great sounding audio it is now only a left signal. How do I set it up so that I can hear both channels in my headphones and also get both a left and right signal for playback?
Thanks for all of your help.

  • How to turn the surround-sound-like effect off with headphones?

When I plug in the headphones into my ipad I notice the sound in the headphones becomes kinda surround-like. For instance I clearly hear keyboard clicks "at a distance" in front of me when using headphones. This "effect" is nice for keyboard clicks but totally ruins any music listening experience because any song gets distorted and is perceived at some distance when played. This becomes extremely annoying when listening to mono content. The special sound processing applied to get this surrround-like sound effect adds artefacts into the sound, please let me know how to turn this off Apple, I couldn't find any option in the settings.
Overall, I couldn't even imagine I'd get such an annoying and unprofessional effect applied by default without a possibility to turn it off. If I knew that in advance I'd never buy my ipad since currently it's not possible to listen to music with it

vvtrus, did you ever consider that turning off the clicks or other sounds might have an effect? So, before telling people who want to help you that an answer makes no sense to you, you might first try it.
Since hearing and listening to music is a very subjective matter which also depends on the quality of the headphones you use, it might be the case that you hear on your iPod something that you couldn't hear on your laptop and portable music player (both of non-apple design). Then you should blame those other devices to deliver you such poor sound. On the other hand, you might have a better hearing than other people which might give you the impression of surround-sound-like effects -- in which case we can't help you either.
Anyway, there are no settings to turn on or off "surround sound effects".

  • Sound coming from an samurai files out of FCPX sounds like they competing with each other. Phased out

Having problem with my audio only on a DVD it sounds bad. In FCPX the sound is great. I import the files from a samurai that is hooked up to a HD switcher. Can the sampling rate be off on the switcher. Found a solution but still want your advice.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • My iphone 4 started making a sound like "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does it at least once a day.  I've reset my phone, used icloud to restore, and it made the sound again upon startup.  Help!  This is so annoying.

My iphone 4 started making a sound like a "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does this at least once a day.  It started about a month ago.  Anyone got any ideas?

Mine does this also, seemingly randomly several times throughout the day.  I do not have this sound as any of my alerts and it does not seem to denote anything like a message, reminder, etc.  I do have "Trapster" on my phone and I went in and tweaked the settings there.  Will repost if that has any efect.

    Hi,
I have the same issue on my HP Win8 desktop. My voice is disguised as chipmunk to the other party. I can hear everybody fine. I followed the exact instruction and  tried search for the folder named "Skype" through writing %appdata% in the Search /Run box as I've read in the previous post, but it did not find a such folder. I don't have a problem using Skype on my laptop supported by Win 7. Anybody out there knows how to fix this? I reinstalled Skype and still the same.
What is the version of Skype program installed on your computer? In Skype go to Help -> About Skype.

  • Sounds like someone has a case of the chipmunks

I had a wav file that I converted in iTunes to an aiff. when I imported into garageband it sounds like a chipmunk, but sounded normal in iTunes. any idea why this is?

  • Sound distortion after share with iTunes

I have used Garage band to record several lectures without any problems.  Over the past week, any time I share it with iTunes, I sound like a chipmunk in the play back.  I have tried converting the tracks into a new music and new podcast projects but it still does the same thing once I share it with iTunes.

the song on the iPod may not have been updated. be sure to delete the song from iTunes, update the iPod so that the song is removed, export the song from GB again, and finally resync the iPod
(an even better chocie would be to quit GB, rename the project ( http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#renameproject ), open it and export. this way you can be sure you're playing the updated file)

  • How to sound like a chimpunk on imovie08

I realize that there is no way i can make my voice sound like a chimpunk on imovie 08
so i recently transferred my audio to garage band and did that successfully on that program
so how do i save it now as a video file in which i can post it on youtube.

what I would do is upload the sound file you have into your iTunes. After this you can go to your clip in iMovie and click on the music note on the right side. This will display your iTunes library, from there you can select the voice you have which sounds like a chipmunk and put the voice into the video by dragging it. You will need to mute the sound of the video so that only the audio of the edited voice is playing. After you have finished editing this to however you please you can put it in a file to upload to youtube by selecting this: Share>youtube. here you will need to input all of your information.
Hope that helped, and best of luck.
