I spend more time updating Flash Player than actually using it

Come on, guys. It's 21st century.
Would you mind to teach your player how to install without disrupting user experience?
On Mac FP is No1 on my personal 'hate that useless app' list. (No2 is Adobe Reader).

My iPad Air spends more time burreing than it should. I have 3 iPads 1 and 3 generation and the Air. The 2 older iPads don't have this problem. Is there a setting that is causing this or dose my Air have a problem???

  • Anyone know the secret to updating flash player on iMac OS X?

I just got an iMac OS X v. 10.4.11 PowerPC G5.  safari shuts down if I go to youtube and I can't seem to download flash player update.  My husband and I are recent converts to Mac and obviously have a lot to learn lol.  We were thinking last night that Safari would quit because Youtube is a video site and maybe perhaps the version on this comp is so old that it just didn't work?  Thing is, if I am on any other site like and click on a video to watch it, it just prompts me to download newer version of flash player but Safari stays open.  It's just for Youtube that it does this.  I'm a sad panda because I go to youtube all the time.  When I went to download the flash update, it just said something like my operating system is too old and requires a version of flash that is no longer supported.  D:  Any tips for a noob?

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • DO NOT UPDATE FLASH PLAYER

Unless you want a million viruses and crappy programs to install themselves on your computer, don't update your flash player. It told me I needed to update flash player so I could finish what I was doing for work and next thing you know I'm spending an hour trying to uninstall all of the programs that popped up. When I opened my browser the default page had a sketchy "search engine." I restarted my computer and when it started up all these programs started running without me doing anything. Adobe sucks and their flash player is the worst. It almost cost me my computer AND wasted hours of my time when I needed to get work done.

    Hello,
When I click on the Citrix link you provide, it takes me to this page:
When I click INSTALL, a new page opens:
    Nothing is downloaded.
Since you mentioned the Citrix website, we are aware that the Citrix XenDesktop page, Products - XenDesktop - Download Flash Plugin - Citrix, contains the wrong Flash Player shim/stub installer, although, it doesn't download a file that contains malware/etc.  We are attempting to resolve this with Citrix.

  • HT5655 I followed all the instructions to update Flash Player, but the installation fails at around 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) bit I actually close all Apps. already. can someone help me with this issue ?? Thanks

I have followed the instructions to update Flash Player, the Installation Fails at about 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) and it says to close all the apps. and start again ... but I already close all the Applications ... none is running ... can someone help me with this issue ??? Thanks ...

    Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get  a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • Update Flash Player  Preferences

My favorite webpage is requiring me to update Flash Player more and more often.
Every time I update, I am forced to select an Update Preference.
It would be useful if the selection choice from the previous installation were saved so that I wouldn't have to change it every time.

    Hi Mr X.
Not sure what to take away from your reply.
So, you're saying that the auto update doesn't apply to the latest version.  I'll keep an eye open for that if it's ever offered for the next, latest version.  I've never seen it in action before, and changing the Auto Update option to my desired choice is getting tedious.  (Did I already say that?)
Having my chosen setting [effectively] reversed every time there's an update is also offensive.  The problem should be rectified.
    > I don't think that your favorite webpage require v11.5, so it should not be a problem for you.
Sorry, but my favorite "flash audio player" wouldn't open twice in the last one or two weeks, but only gave a message saying that Flash had to be updated first, yadda yadda.  I wouldn't lie about something like that.  The message said explicitly, "Requires updating to v11.5.xxwhatever-beta."  Today, they wanted the 2nd update, and it was no longer whatever-beta.  If I said it was required, I don't know why you would assume I'm probably wrong.
In both instances, updating brought the flash audio player back to life.  Updating was required, twice, in fairly quick succession.
Although you also say "it should not be a problem for me, it *was.*  Evidence my undertaking navigating adobe's incredibly awkward, non-standard, uniquely complex, and user-unfriendly website.  It's not something I would do willingly, but ONLY IF adobe was "a problem for me."
Yes, I would prefer if the URL of the audio stream were made available so I wouldn't have to deal with a user-unfriendly blight like Flash.  But since the URL is not available, Flash *is* being a problem for me.  That's why I'm here.  Is it coalescing?
Yeh, this whole thing was sufficiently problematic that I felt it should be addressed.  I might go so far as to suggest that if it is a problem for me, then there really is a problem.  I shouldn't have to defend my opinion that a there is a problem when adobe neglects to confirm the usability of their product(s).
In summary, I agree with you Mr X.  I shouldn't have a problem.  Thanks for your help.

  • Is it safe to update Flash Player?

Is it safe to update Flash Player?

It's yet safer to entirely remove Flash Player.  Adobe offers a Flash Player removal tool.
Then you don't have to deal with the Flash Player updates, or the vulnerabilities.
For displaying video, you might not even need the player, as various common sites that "require" Flash Player can be coaxed into operating with the YouTube5 HTML5 Safari extension, and some by changing the browser id string.
Adobe Flash is capable of far more than playing video, capabilities few other than some games use, and capabilities which make it far more difficult to secure.

  • What's the power of spending more time every day in your IT career ?

What's the power of spending more time every day in your IT career ?
When you do the research to find the factors of the successful people, you'll find that they ALWAYS spent a lot of time every day in their businesses.
The IT technologies change so fast and explode. The performance of IT people with 20 years experiences can be EASILY catched up by a IT people, maybe you, who has only 6 or 7 years or even less if you spend over 80 hours or even more every week on your job and on the latest technologies.
    The reasons are listed below:
    1. The out-of-date IT technologies is no use anymore. It's like the out-of-date IT books. The people with 20 years experience can't rely on his last experience any more.
    2. If you spend 80 hours every week, you'll absorb doubled the knowledge and experience than the people who spends only 40 hours every week. You may catch up with him who has 20 years experiences with your 10 years experiences. Not only this, most of your knowledge and experiences are newer and useful than his.
    3. Because you spend 80 hours, you have plenty of time to focus on your tasks. When the task comes in, you may finish your tasks many times faster than him and you may be the only person who still has the time to do any extra or urgent tasks. Because you have more time, you may prepare your next task to be ready to finish your next task even faster and you may absorb the latest IT technologies from a learner level to an expert level while other people is still doing his tasks. And due to your more spare time to learn the technologies all the time needed to do your task, you have much more knowledge needed to do your task and can finish your task much faster than others.
According to my experience, if the comparison of the knowledge the worker has is 1 to 5, the real hours needed to finish a task may be 1 to 10. In IT field, if you know how to do it, you need minutes, but if you don't know how to do it, you need months to do the error-try or starting to learn it and do it. Please notice that the knowledge can be used for many times and the 1 to 5 and 1 to 10 comparisons will repeat again and again. Without spending more time on getting more knowledge, the comparison of 1 to 10 is still happening.
    4. Like trying to save the money, most of his 40 hours will be spent on his tasks. He may have only 5 hours left to learn new IT technologies. If you still need to spend the same time to finish your tasks like him, you still will have 45 hours to learn new technologies. You grow 9 times, 5 hours to 45 hours, faster than him. If you keep working and learning the new IT technologies 80 hours every week, you'll find that you'll need much less than 35 hours like him, you may have 60 or even more hours every week to do more tasks to get more experiences and to learn more latest technologies.

    1) LabVIEW is a graphical based programming environment and
LabWindows/CVI is a C based programming environment.  Both can be used
for similar tasks.  Users familiar with C may prefer CVI.  LabVIEW is
typically easier to learn if you are unfamiliar with both.
     2)
The Run-Time Engine is a separate component that can be installed to
execute LabWindows/CVI programs and LabVIEW programs.  It is free of
charge for both LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI.
    3)
LabWindows/CVI does not convert any LabVIEW programs into C code.
LabVIEW programs are already compiled as you write them, so you won't
need to convert them to C to use them.  You should see similar
performance in similar LabVIEW and CVI code.

  • I have to reinstall/update Flash player everyday?

Hi I am a Mac user (MAC OSX 10.6.8) and I use safari as my main browser. (safari version 5.1.5)
The thing is when I try to watch youtube videos, at least once a day my video just turns black, or it says 'plug-in failure'.
I found that the solution for this is updating the flash player, but since this happens everyday I am updating flash everyday.
Everytime I update flash player, the videos work fine.
Last time I installed Flash player was yesterday, the latest version possible, and yet the problem occurred just now.
When I install flash player, I do not uninstall previous versions , simply because it worked fine with them.
Could that be the main problem?
I'm just getting really sick of updating this everyday, force quitting all my browsers and losing all the tabs I had opened.
    Please help?

You don't need to uninstall Flash Player before installing a new version. Because you install Flash Player everyday, it won't be an update. You are simply installing the version that's already present in your machine.
Could you please go to the following page and let us know the Flash Player version displayed there? https://help-internal.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player. html
Does this issue happen only with specific sites or with all the sites?
    Thanks,
    Suni

  • Update flash player on mac os x 10.5.8

i have a mac os x 10.5.8 and i am trying to update flash player but every time i try i get a message saying it requires 10.6 or higher. how can i update my flash player??

Running Leopard you can't. What you have is as far as it will go.
Leopard was the last build Mac released that was a "Universal Binary". In other words, it would run on PowerPC or Intel Processors. Once Snow Leopard was released, Adobe stopped deveopment on Universal binary builds of Flash Player.
I know it seems like just another "money grab" by Apple and Adobe trying to force everyone to buy a new Operating System, but the entire industry has moved away from the old Apple architecture and software for it.

  • After a mac update; flash player asked to be installed.  Install successful but application will not work.

    Hello,
After a Mac update, flash player (along with silverlight) asked to be installed when I tried to watch video content or play games.  I installed flash player and it reports being successful and appears in my applications.  However, I cannot watch videos or play games, every time I am asked to install flash player again and again and again.  I suspect this has something to do with plugins but I am not sure.  I have un-installed the program and reinstalled but it still will not work.  I check my security settings and it does allow plugins.  I erased my temporary internet files.  I don't know what else to do.  Any help would be appreciated!  This is incredibly frustrating.  Thank you

Thank you for responding!  I am using a macbook pro 2011, 2.2ghz, intel
core i7, 16gb - version 10.9.5.   I have not intentionally installed any ad
blocking software; intact I am inundated with it most times.  My online
school work required that I disable pop up blockers and all was well until
an update a few weeks ago for both security and operating system.  To the
best of my knowledge I am allowing pop ups and plugins but this may be
where the trouble is.  I am unsure, honestly of what security is running
besides what I find in the system preference/security tab.  Thank you again
for responding and any help is most appreciated.

  • Update Flash Player via Adobe or whatever Apple updates?

I have always just let whatever Apple installer that updates Flash Player do my flash updating. Should I, instead, just always update directly from Adobe whatever the "latest" version of FP is? In the past, Apple seems to include a FP update with either a Safari or Security update. I have no idea if they do not update FP on a more frequent schedule because Apple has not "tested" the latest version.
Also, I have read that it is better to uninstall your current FP before running the current installer, however, the instructions on Adobe's website does not mention that at all.
    Any suggestions?
    Message was edited by: powerbook1701

Apple does not provide Flash Player updates, and the version included with the OS X install disks may be out of date.
Update via Adobe when you hear of an update, or just check regularly.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

i had the same problem too after i updated to version 12. my laptop is windows 7 64bit but it not only affected my chrome browser but all my browsers. i was unable to watch any videos online with flash content. even youtube was out i had to do a system restore and i have no plans to update to version 12 until version 13 is released lol
FWIW, YouTube has finished converting ALL of their videos to HTML5, which requires NO plug-in... at all.
If you have NO Flash Player installed on your system, your browser (as long as it's newer than IE8 or Firefox 17) can play YouTube videos.
If you're unable to view HTML5 video, your problems are way beyond Flash Player, or Chrome... which has a "proprietary" build, modified and embedded by Google, but isn't required to view YouTube.

  • Script Error when updating Flash Player

I have exhausted the online documentation. This started several months ago. The way that Flash Player updated on my machine changed. I am running XP using IE8. Everytime I try to update Flash Player I get a script error right about the time that the download completes and it is starting to install. The actual script error varies from one attempt to another. The latest error is 'ActionLaunchAdobe' is undefined. Scripting is enabled per the help documents. I have never had to uninstall a previous version before and I'm hesitant to do it now because my current version is 11.4.402.287 and it works. My concern is that if I can't update to new versions eventually there may be problems. I have not made configuration changes to this computer or installed new software for quite a while. The Flash Player update mechanism used to never open a browser window but since I have had this problem that's the first thing it does and takes me to the Flash Player update site. Then the never ending fun begins always ending with a script error and failed install. PLEASE HELP!

If you have "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" selected in your Flash Player control panel (in the Advanced tab), you should be getting our silent auto updates.  The problem appears to be occurring for you when a major update occurs.  You have a couple of options here.  First, you can visit the link below whenever this occurs and download the offline installer files that should work properly.  The second option is to ignore these update notifications and after 30 days we'll install it automatically (and silently.)
