I started my Firefox this morning and my entire history, cookies, and bookmarks have disappeared. I have a lot of stuff saved that was important to me, and it is nowhere to be found.

My firefox started this morning like it was the first time I ever opened it.
EDIT: after going to gmail and a couple other sites, my cookies are intact, but the sites are still not in my history.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I have researched this before and i see a lot of things that say get a external hard drive, but before I go and purchase one I want to make sure there is no other, simpler way, to solve this problem. You need an external drive so you can free up disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

I installed an update of firefox this morning and now it won't open. I have tried to remove it and re-install it and although the icon remains, nothing happens when I click on it.

In any case, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Opened Firefox this morning and it was like I had just installed it for the first time

What is going on with Firefox. Everything was fine last night. This morning I opened it to check the weather and what opened was a new Firefox asking me if I wanted to make it my default browser. All my bookmarks were there. All the add-ons were there but none of them worked and. I installed Personnas and it worked and then I closed it down. Now I went to open it and it won't open so I'm writing you in Google Chrome. I have loved Firefox but I think it's getting like Internet Explorer. Nothing but problems and doesn't want to work half the time. How very sad.

This may be a problem with preference that aren't saved properly.

Brought up FireFox, this morning and (1) no bookmarks, and (2) no backup bookmarks.

Running Firefox 3.6.13 for several weeks without any problems until this morning. All bookmarks GONE and no backup files.
Tried to import bookmarks form a previous *html file, nothing comes up. Tried to import bookmarks from IE, nothing, no bookmarks. Removed and Re-installed Firefox still can't load or see any bookmarks.

Opened up Firefox this morning and can't open a single website....have to use Internet Explorer (oh the shame). I tried reinstalling firefox and restarting my computer. Don't know what else to do or why I can't get any internet on Firefox.

Have you read the articles shown in my first message above with the blue clickable links. One of the first things to try is using Firefox in firefox [[safe mode]] which should be available from your program list, BUT when trying that on the first dialogue do not make changes just click on continue.

I have the latest version of firefox and it is running under win 7 pro.
it was working great since I installed it 3 weeks ago and I use it every day.
the error reads:

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Spilled water without flavorings and especially without sugar is something from which your computer may recover. The best thing to do is to shut off as quickly as possible and remove the battery pack. Place the computer in a sunny window with the lid open to promote evaporation of the water. On top of a refrigerator is also a warm perch that'll promote drying. It is difficult to say exactly how long it takes to dry the computer; that depends on ambient temperature and humidity, and how how water is in there.
The biggest threat from the water is corrosion of metal parts, so drying quickly is a must. Also, water can form mineral salt deposits that can grow conductive dendrites between adjacent traces on printed circuit boards. The formation of dendrites is aggravated if you apply power before the machine is dried out. The worst damage would be if water managed to get in the breather hole of the hard drive - luckily, the way the drive is mounted, that would be fairly unlikely.
