I still can't get Flash to run .. OSX10.6.8 ~ FFox latest 8.01

I have had to go back to using Safari because I still can't get Flash to run!
Does anyone know the secret please?
This Adobe vs Apple thing is going too far.
When I saw an FFox upgrade I rubbed my hands and thought Whoopee .. they will have fixed it by now" .. but NO!
Apple support held my hand to make Flash work on Safari..
Please does anyone have the steps to make it work?

Every time I have Flash content is says:
Alert icon
"You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. "
~~~ But I just DID THAT 5 minutes ago, I mumble... ~~~
Does anyone have any clues as to what to do?
  • How can I get flash video to work on ipad2 ?
    I have ipad2 on order - then realised does not support flash. All our training videos are flash !!! Do I cancel order or can I get flash to run on ipad2
    Flash is not supported on the iPad. There are some apps that take a flash video on a web page, send it to a server which converts it to a format suitable for the iPad, but these are somewhat iffy.
    I still can't get it to work that way. I changed my cfexecute to:
    <cfexecute name="C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" arguments="/c C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\#cmd_filename#" outputFile="C:\testoutput.txt" timeout = "90"></cfexecute>
    And I changed my bat file to have:
    <cfsavecontent variable="cmd_content">
    cd\
    TSC.exe /s "#newString#" C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\#FileName# Mary (for Telephone)
    </cfsavecontent>
    The output file is showing:
    C:\ColdFusion9\runtime\bin>cd\
    C:\>TSC.exe /s "3.....P.....4.....Z.....8.....U.....7.....X....." C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\3P4Z8U7X-105724.wav Mary (for Telephone)
    I still can't get it to run the exe. I have watched the process list while running this and the exe doesn't show up. I tried cfexecute on the exe directly before trying the bat method, with hard coded arguments, and it still didn't work. I am so lost right now this makes no sense to me.
  • My 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard won't boot even after erasing and re-installing Snow Leopard (via my MacBookPro), either from the HD or DVD drive.  Can't get it to run Hardware Test.  Disk Utility says disk OK - files are there. What can I do?
    My 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard won't boot even after erasing and re-installing Snow Leopard.   I erased and re-installed by putting the iMac in Target Disk mode and usin my MacBookPro as the host.  But after numerous attempts I still can't get it to boot either from the HD or DVD drive. I just get the white screen after the wheel stops spinning.  I can't get it to run Hardware Test - just get the white screen.  If I use Disk Utility via my MBP it says the disk appears OK. All the Snow Leopad files appear to have been installed. What can I do?
    Perhaps you installed the wrong version OS X onto the iMac, you can't use the disk from another Mac.
    clean the disk.
    If it's not working then use this method to create a bootable 10.6 USB from the iMac machine specific 10.6 disk or the 10.6.3 retail disk on your other Mac, use it to boot the iMac with.
  • Can't get Videos to run on the Internet
    Can't get Videos to run on the Internet. Clicked to watch a video and nothing happened. Sales person in Apple store said to get "Flip4Mac", free edition, which is what they used in store as the files on this site and in Windows Media. I downloaded it and I think I installed it. At least it said is was installed and updated. But when I went to my Son's favorite website, Nascar.com, when he clicked on a video to watch nothing happened. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?
    Thanks in advance for the help.....Nancy
    First off, I'll list all the items that I use to play, just about, all media on the web:
    Flip4Mac
    (as you might have found out, Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported)
    VLC
    Real Player
    Perian
    Adobe Flash
    Streamclip
    All that being said, there is still some unplayable A/V content on the web. Even though it's listed as WMV, they are really processed with a codec that is underneath that wrapper, and unsupported by any of the above listed apps and plug ins. If any content like this is found on a high profile site, and is in wmv format, then the Flip4Mac people request to be told, so they can see if compatibility can be written in on their next update.
    Generally, video playback on a Mac can be somewhat complex. Would be nice if everyone used Quicktime, but I don't see that happening on the PC end of things anytime soon. So, we'll all just have to use what we can to view content.
    RE: learning Leopard....there are some tutorials on the Apple support site, but I've always found the suppot discussions to be pretty helpful. I've never been one to get a lot from manuals. Mostly, I get my knowledge from working with the apps I need, and getting advise from others who have done whatever. Occasionally, there's a class at the college that you might look into. Anyway, feel free to ask any questions you want on this forum, or drop me an email. [email protected]
  • How can I get Flash Player and install it?
    I29/Aug/2010 17:37
    TO: Adobe Forum
    I am running Windows XP Home, and using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 as my browser.
    When I go to download and install the latest version of Flash Player, the ONLY option I get is to quit. In other words, I cannot download and install Flash Player. This even occurs at Adobe's own website.
    How can I get Flash Player and install it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Barry Karas
    First, you can manually download the installer here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
    Second. On both my Mac (OS 10.6.4) and My PC (Vista Home Premium) I have had nothing but trouble with Firefox 3.6.8 and Flash player, Flash apps and Flash sites that require access to web cam or microphone or both.
    The last time Flash Player worked well with Firefox was 3.6.4, but I uninstalled 3.6.8 and went all the way back to 3.0 on both systems.
    Just a heads up. If you download the manual installer, and it still doesn't work, it ISN'T the Flash Player. It's Firefox. IE, Opera and Safari all work with it.
    Go to oldversion.com and get an older build of Firefox, uninstall 3.6.8, install the older one, go to Tools, and Options and turn off automatic checking for updates, so it doesn't try to take you back the the 3.6.8 "busted @$$ joint" that doesn't work worth poo.
    Maybe when they release 3.7, Firefox will have their act together with Adobe and Flash Player.
  • TS4424 I still can't get my mail to work.I have reinstalled Security update and combo 3 times. About ready to call Apple but mI don't think I should pay for it!!!!
    I can't my Apple mail to work.  It started when I did an up date.  When I went to use mail  (the little stamp at bottom)  it said, "you can't use this version of mail with this version of OS X.  I looked on support and was told to solve the problem  by downloading combo package and security update. Did it 3 times.  I did everything.  Still doesn't work.  I even took everything mail out of applications and the library and did those two updates and still can't get it.  Could I reinstall OS X Snow Leopard and would that affect any of my documents like i photo or i tunes?  I don't want to loose anything!  I have spent way too long on this problem.  I feel like I own  PC with windows again.  Please help!!!!!!    Frustated
    No need to reinstall Snow. Try trashing all the Mail.apps you have. (But don't empty the trash yet!) Do a search for those. Reinstall Mail from the DVD in Optional Installs. This will put Mail 4.2 in Applications, then run the Combo Update, which will update Mail to 4.5, and then the Security Update again, in that order.
  • Read the manual; still can't get it right
    i've followed instructions on setting path and classpath, but still can't get the HelloWorldApp to work right. it makes the .class file fine but the java HelloWorldApp command gives this to stdout
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorldApp
    maybe i have the classpath set wrong..currently it's set to C:\jdk1.3.1_01\bin\;"." is it supposed to be somewhere else? well when i use codewarrior it all works fine but i only have a trial version of it and would like to do the command line thing 1) because it's free and 2) because i like typing the commands ...also i have the exact same problem to overcome on my linux box..same error message as above.
    any help is greatly appreciated..
    Hello Fueley,
    I can see that you are running JDK 1.3.1_01 on a Windows OS of some kind. On different Windows OS you have a a different place to set CLASSPATH environment variable. For instance, in Windows/95 you can set CLASSPATH environment variable in the autoexec.bat file. While in Windows/NT you set CLASSPATH environment variable in the Environment tab of the System Properties of the Control Panel.
    First clear your classpath by typing in a DOS window:
    C:> set CLASSPATH=
    Then point your classpath to the current directory. The current directory is indicated by a period. The quotation marks are not needed.
    To set your classpath, type in a DOS window:
    C:> set CLASSPATH=.
    If you want to, you can add other paths your classpath, for example, the dt.jar and tools.jar
    C:> set CLASSPATH=.;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\lib\dt.jar;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\lib\tools.jar
    See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-windows.html#Classpath for more information.
  • Firstly, I can't open iPhoto on my macbook as of a few days and could it have anything to do with a problem I have updating my iPhone's software as I've downloaded extra iCloud storage but I still can't get the iPhone to recognise the space for software
    Firstly, I can't open iPhoto on my macbook as of a few days and could it have anything to do with a problem I have updating my iPhone's software as I've downloaded extra iCloud storage but I still can't get the iPhone to recognise the space for software
    No. With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
    what version of iPhoto are you using?
    what system version are you running?
    what do you see when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
    did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
    are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
    how much free space on your boot drive?
    For the iPhone issue ask in the iPhone forum.
  • Still can't get airplay to work!!!!!
    Grrrrrrrrr. Still can't get airplay to work with either my iPad or my iPhone to my atv2. Everything has the latest firmware, including my airport extreme. Airplay is turned on in options on the atv2.
    Everything is on the same network. I even switched networks but still nothing.
    I do not see the blue icon that let's me stream to the tv.
    What the heck am I doing wrong?
    Hi,
    Your profile indicates you are running v10.5.7. If that's the case, you need to update your system software to v10.5.8 which is the minimum requirement for the iPad.
    Click the Apple () menu then click: Software Update...
    And make sure Bluetooth is not enabled on either the iPad or the iPhone. Tapping Settings / General / Bluetooth.
  • Still can't get iTunes to open
    After help from this DB I uninstalled every part of my iPod Nano and iTunes from my computer, re-installed everything and still can't get iTunes to open. It thinks about it and then just doesn't open, doesn't run, nothing. I even tried going on iTunes on here and surfing around and can't get the Music Store to open. If I click on it, it opens for 1/2 a second and then flips back to the main page. Any thoughts? Sorry to be such a PITA. I'm just frustrated with a new iPod and no music.
    Okay, it seems I am not the only one with this problem. Sorry... did not see the other post until I typed this. But this is frustrating. Anyone know if I can use a later version and still use my Nano?
  • We are running firefox 3.0.5. When I log onto any of our machines I can't get Firefox to run. I get the Close Firefox popup and the message Firefox is already running
    I can't get firefox to run on any machines. My colleagues can.
    I can't find any trace of Firefox running and it still complains
    that there is an existing firefox process running.
    Also, and although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at [http://www.getfirefox.com getfirefox.com].
  • Upgraded xorg - can't get X to run again.
    I tried to upgrade Xorg based on the Wiki Entry.
    I was having bitstream-vera problems, so I followed the instructions about removing xorg and upgrading everything...
    Well after a while waiting for all package to download, it says it can't update the packages because of /etc/hosts or some /etc file.
    So I upgrade xorg and the related packages and try it out.
    X does come up, but my optical mouse doesn't scroll or have the rest of its buttons. I see that there's a wiki on fixing this so I follow it. Add evdev, udev/ rule 20-mouse, update xorg.conf, etc.
    Now X doesn't come up - it freezes and I have to pull the plug to reboot.
    Even if I take out the mouse from xorg.conf and remove the udev rule I still can't get X to startup.
    I changed the mouse 'Auto' protocol to ExplorerPS/2 and got one of two monitors to engage (first is a riva TNT; second is a Matrox Millennium - the  one that doesn't come up.)
    I can't even get the /root/xorg.conf.new file to come up with X now.
    The only EEs I get from the X log is that [drm] Direct rendering is not supported for my Matrox card; and Cannot read V_BIOS for the NV (Riva) card.
    Looking for any help I can get.
       Thanks.
    Have you tried running hwd -x (after backing up your xorg.conf file) to see its auto generated config works.  Often used this to debug X problems.
