What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements running on?
What are the properties of these source media video clips?
How are you trying to save the edited video clips
a. Publish+Share/ and one of the choices there and then an export of the whole Timeline content
or
b. Trying to save the edited video clips in a project selectively as separate files saved to the computer hard drive. If so, please detail.
Have you posted a recent thread on this topic here recently? With the recent major update of the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum it has been more difficult for me to go back and look for prior recent threads posted by the user.
Please review, supply the necessary details, and then we can customize troubleshooting to address your Premiere Elements workflow issue.

The quickest way to get to the core of the matter is with details specific to your situation. Included in the many questions....
1. What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
2. Is your problem "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before"?
3. What are the properties of your source media that you are importing into the project? Before you begin the editing process, what is your project preset which should match the properties of your source media?
4. What are the specifics for your "save edited clips" - Publish+Share and then what? Where are you saving the edited clips to, and how much free hard drive space is at that location? Are you getting error messages associated with the failure to save edited clips?
5. When you start a new project, are you able to save that project.prel file if you leave the project in the Edit phase and save/close?
Let us start here and then decide what next.

I personally would suggest the option to save your iTunes library to an external drive -- because it creates an important backup, and copies the library to your new computer.

This option requires more work than Home Sharing, but it creates a backup of your iTunes library on the external drive in addition to moving your content.
Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). Because of this, you can't use a Mac-formatted iPod or external drive to move your music to a Windows PC.
Mac OS X can read Windows-formatted iPods and drives. This means there are many ways to migrate your information from your old Windows-based PC to your new Mac.
Mac OS X: To be sure external drives appear on your desktop, choose Preferences from the Finder menu. Be sure the options for "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.

I have purchased pages for both machines separately and presumed they would work without a hitch. Am I missing something?

It used to be that to update the trial to the licensed version with the box, you just inserted the DVD & ran the installer to convert the trial to licensed. This changed with Snow Leopard. You now need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his iDisk in For_iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

Lost bookmarks, force quit and re-boot with no change. still cannot save new bookmarks. is there a solution?

I would try first to reset all settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You will not lose any data by doing this and test it out. If you still cannot save a bookmark, then you will need to restore your iPad and not restore from back up. The instructions for restoring are outlined in the article below.

Still cannot save attachments

For what must be a month now I cannot download email attachments, web browsers either cannot save the file or produce a blank unknown file type.
I have had to stop using iCloud, all the other emails services which you access via a web browser work no problem at all like gmail and outlook its just iCloud will not, have apple stopped supporting microsoft office attachments ?

Cannot Save edited files

Hello Group,
Has anyone experienced this problem?? We have had this
problem 2 times, and it seems related to after a Windows automatic
update as run. Platform is an HP laptop, running windows XP.
We have several *.cp files. We open one file, and delete an
audio track from a slide, and then attempt to save the edited file.
The edited file will not save. For some reason Captivate
still sees the "different" file name as the same name as previous
file. The edit is not saved. We even created a new folder on the
C:\ drive, and copy a file in, open it, or attempt to open an
edited file that somehow got saved, and then Captivate say "this
file is in a format that captivate does not recogize"
Has anyone else seen something like this?
captivate seems to work ok on my desktop pc, but not the
laptop??? Perhaps it is some sort of problem with the laptop

You have a 16-bit image and jpeg is an 8 bit format. You can set the raw converter to export as 8 bit by using the pulldown menu below the preview area, or you can just go to Image>Mode>8 bits/channel in the editor.

Hi everybody,
I am in France. I have juste installed Lion. I have to regularly send php files on to a website on a Linux Gentoo under Apache webserver. Up until now I used Smultron (a text and code editor) and saved the files in Mac Os Roman Character encoding. This does not work anymore and the French accuentated characters are not displayed correctly on the web site. The website is ISO-8859-1.
I have tried within Smultron but also within TextEdit, to copy and paste a correctly accentuated version of one of the php files and then save it in another encoding but neither apps let me use Mac Os Roman or Windows Latin or even Latin 1, I can only save using UTF8 and I have the following message :
" This document can no longer be saved using its Western (Iso Latin 1) encoding"
If I type a small text with accents and save it as a php file in Iso Latin 1, it works, but not the big files with php code within...
Anybody can help ? I cannot send links to the web pages because they are password protected.

I find part of your post rather confusing. MacRoman and ISO-8859-1 are totally different and one would not expect the former to display correctly if viewed as the latter.
If TextEdit will only save as UTF-8, it seems like your file must have some character in it, perhaps difficult to see, which is not contained in Latin 1. If you could send me a copy of a file where you have this problem, I could take a look (tom at bluesky dot org).

Reader still cannot save fillable forms

I'm using LiveCycle Designer to create a fillable form that I wish to have sent back to me as a pdf or for the user to save the completed form locally. I have "Enabled Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" under the advanced tab. However, when I send the fillable form to my users with reader, sometimes they cannot even fill in the form because it says that the form has been altered since the rights were enabled(which it hasn't) and at other times, they can fill out the form and save it, but the saved file is just a blank form(They're not choosing Save a Copy). I do not wish to use LifeCycle ES Reader Extension because this is a small venture and I don't technically have a server I can access. Can someone give me some clue as to what I might still be doing wrong?

Sorry.. I thought I replied to this message earlier. Apparently not. In any event, Adobe Reader 9 is being used. There is no script that changes the appearance of the form as far as I'm aware. I downloaded a form from the form gallery.. and enabled the usage rights and then emailed it to myself. When I opened it on my laptop, it told me that the document had been altered since it had been saved(which it hadn't) and wouldn't let me fill in the form or save it.

STILL cannot save an alias

I have been trying every day for months now and I'm still unable to create an alias, every time I try I get the response of THIS ALIAS CANNOT BE SAVED AT THIS TIME. I have tried a variety of different name options incase it was that the name had already been taken, but all to no avail. Please can anyone help, it seems that there have been posts about this but nothing that resolves or explains the situation, and I can't find anything current - am I the only person having this problem????????

Still having the same problem, I try every single day and so far nothing. I've tried every variation that I can possibly think of with any combination of numbers and letters etc. but still get the same error message. I log in with my icloud email address, and it seems that the only domain you can use is the icloud domain.
I really could use some help, but there seems to be nothing around. We can't be the only two people experiencing this problem????

Firefox is only saving 8 light-weight themes. Supposedly this was fixed in February, but I still cannot save more than eight. Is there a new fix or workaround?

Tonight we found a site called getpersonas.com. We found several we liked and started saving, then later realized Firefox 3.6.3 is only saving the last 8. I checked the forum and saw a bug report related to this, but it was also reported as fixed, but I still have the problem and I see no workaround posted.

Cannot Save Changes in Library - Help!

I still cannot save changes I make to a library image back to
the library. I open library, drag the image to the stage, make a
change ... and then it just sits there. Nothing in the library
changes, nothing I do can make the original image in the library
take the changes. I've tried saving as, exporting, creating a new
image (it will not allow me to give it the same name as an existing
library image .. the one I want to change).
I suspect some bug in Flash since I re-installed it on a new
laptop. It worked before. I have tried re-installing it and have
the latest updates from Flash site.
Any ideas???

OK, never mind, I figured it out ... it was my unfamiliarity
with Flash, I rarely do anything there. I had selected the "open as
library" command which does not permit editing. Instead I needed to
open the fla file, then choose Library from the Window menu
Duh.

Migrating from FCP/Mac to a Premiere/Windows: looking for a primer on codecs

I'm a long time FCP7 user, and I've just decided to migrate to Premiere. Having just a assembled a quite decent PC system, I'm not quite lost regarding codecs.
Being very used to ProRes on Apple systems, which is quite frankly the standard and go-to option in my market segment (corporate videos), I'm now wondering what's the go-to option when editing in Premiere/Windows.
I get a lot of media coming from DSLR cameras, so doing the h264->ProRes conversion is what I'm used to. I know Premiere can edit h264 media, but it seems that once effects are stacked up, we start having problems. I also do some work on AE, and FCP round-trips have always been a headache due to gamma shifting and whatnot. I'm hoping migrating to a 100% Adobe workflow will help solve my problems. The thing is I'll still use both Windows and OS X.
What's my best course of action regarding codecs here? Should I just install some version of ProRes on my Windows machine and stick to it, or are there better options? Also, for strict Windows users, what's usually the codec of choice?

I think editing h264 media natively is good, but once I start to stack up effects and transitions I'll get into trouble. It's not an appropriate codec for editing.
As for round-trips with Mac systems, what codec would you recommend?

Elements 3.0 cannot save lighting effects styles

I am running a PIII 1 gig with 2 gig of memory Running win 2000Pro. I have Elements 3.0 installed and I have been using the lighting effects filter, but I have noticed that when the lighting effects box comes up there are no styles listed. Also I cannot save any lighting effects styles. When I try to save a Style I get the following error message:
'An error occured while trying to save the style'
I do not use any file compression on any of the drives or folder on my system.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated...
One more thing there are lighting effects styles on the hard drive. I found them in the Plugins folder under Filters/Lighing Styles.

I checked and the proper settings were already present, but I reset them anyway. (couldn't hurt). Re-booted and cleared the preference files again. I still cannot see the lighting styles that are on the computer and I still cannot save the ones I build.
I have also tried and Un-install and re-install, but there must have been some files that were not cleared because after the re-install some of my settings came back. I will have to try again and this time I will make sure nothing is left after the Un-install.
I am very please with the help I have recieved on the Forum.. It always pays to have more than one mind looking for solutions.

Cannot Save as Template in Pages '09

I would like to create a template in Pages '09. However, whenever I go to File -> Save as template and try to save it, Pages gives me an error message telling me that I don't have permission to do so. I have selected Get Info on the file and made sure that my permissions were Read & Write (they were), but I still cannot save the file.
I am using Mavericks iOS, which has given me nothing but trouble. I hate it....
Any suggestions?

It is more likely that where you want to save it hasn't the right permissions.
If you hate Mavericks you shold go back to an earlier MacOS.
You have a Macbook Pro. Have you restarted it lately? You could start it on the installation disk you get when you buy the computer ans use the disc utility to Repair permissions.
