I've downloaded the trial version of Fireworks CS3 and it
will not install. It tells me the required resources are missing.
It does the same with Photoshop.
I've gotta get this installed! Help me please!

Hello guy! Sorry to trouble you with the same problem again,
but i still need help!
"I am trying to create a scrypt that will compare a String
with an editable text that the user should type to match that
String. I was able to do that, but the problem is that is not case
sensitive, even with the adobe help telling me that strings are
case sensitive. Do you guys know how to make that comparison match
only if all the field has the right upper and lower case letters?

second one even made the director crash, corrupting even previously
files that had nothing to do with the initial problem..

If you put each item that you are comparing into a list, it
magically
makes it case sensitive. Just put list brackets around each
item.

The = operator is not case-sensitive when used on strings,
but the < and > operators are case-sensitive.
So another way to do this is to check if the string is
neither greater than nor less than the target string:

else if vExpected > vInput then

The first solution does in fact work and is probably the most
efficient way
of doing it. You can verify that it works by starting with a
new director
movie and adding a field named "t:texto1" into the cast with
the text
"Residencial Serra Verde" in the field. Next type the
following command in
the message window and press Enter
put [field "t:texto1"] = ["Residencial Serra Verde"]
You will see it return 1 which means True. Next, make the R
in the field
lower case and execute the command in the message window, it
will return 0
(true).
Now that you know this works, you need to dig deeper in your
code to find
what the problem is. Any more info you can supply?

I had to remove Mavericks and do a reinstall on 10.8.5 but still need help...

I have been trying to undo my Mavericks upgrade in October and after considerable effort I am mostly got back to 10.8.5 OS but still need a bit of help. I just want the previous OS back in place then I'll try Mavericks soon....
1)               I never seem to pay attention so is 10.8.5 the last OSX prior? As long as it isn't Mavericks, I want to get it installed.
2)               I had to reformat my iMac so I have a residual elements from 10.9 and one issue that I had before was permissions. Every number of files either on other hard drives or sometimes in my same user folder was asking for permission and authentication to simply move a file.. A popular one you'll see at the bottom the person/whatever/ problem known as fetching. Could someone just give me the general reason of this fetching and permissions problem that I ran into? Better yet since I just want to avoid it altogether into the future tell me what's the best way to assure it disappears forever.
3)          Another, which is kind of a big ticket item for me is the backup/restore/cover your (!!!) system. I was a good little iMac User and had Time Machine backed up for a period prior to the Mavericks install. I'm a little bit upset that TM isn't 100%....but what is...? I need another backup/restore system in place and that's what I am looking for recommendations on. An item that saved me a bit was that I had OS 10.8.3 on an external hard drive. The problem with that one was it was on a partition, on one of the drives requiring to be reformatted. It worked as a bridge consolidating files and all but was a big headache as a partition on the external. Recovery Disk did it's part but wasn't enough as well.   Is there a simple/easy idea...clone, disk images, boot from an external drive… ?
4)          iPhoto (9.4.3) currently will not open the libraries which iPhoto (9.5) converted. Is there way to go back? Seems the App Store and Software update don't like something. I'm getting into a loop with App Store, iPhoto and the OS. Either the software needs operating system ... then the App Store says it's incompatible or some other complaint. Right now I have 9.4.3 iPhoto installed for OSX 10.8.5 and was only able to create a new library and the converted ones currently do not open.

10.8.5 is the lates ML edition. I use TM and also carbon copy cloner as my second backup. If I were you and you have a TM backup prior to Mavericks I would try another restore at bootup. You should erase your drive first in that process using disk utitlites and then use TM to put back you apps and files. The other choice is to do an internet recovery and then use TM to restore your apps and files. That should fix the permissions issue. I did the same thing and all was OK including getting my original iPhoto progam (9.4.3), iphoto11 and photos back.

ITunes Error Message. Still need help. Please.

I still haven't been able to use my ITunes for about two months. I need help to fix the problem. Here's what it says when I try to start ITunes:

Have you tried un-installing iTunes, downloading the program again from Apple, and re-installing?
It's always worth a try, as it should help you clear off anything causing the problem and start again.

Read every font topic, but I still need help

I have been at this for about 4 hours, and I need help.
I read Flash Help and every font forum topic, which say
Static Text need not use embedded fonts.
Links to .fla and .swf files below.
Everything shows up fine in 'Control/Test Movie'
Using Arial font, I cannot see static text in my test .swf
file.
I then embedded Arial (24 pt, bold, italic - 'ArialEmbedded'
in the library).
Using that font on Static text, can see the text, but not in
Arial. It is in TimesNewRoman, regular, non-italic.
I then used the embedded font in text I described as dynamic,
but could not see any text.
Everything shows up fine in Control/Test Movie.
I get around this by building .gifs using graphics packages
and importing them,
but the results are less than desirable. (see layer ".gif
from outside appl."

Have you forgotten your password? - if so, you have a problem if the email address has gone dead.
If you know your password, go to the iTunes Store, click on Account. log in and you can change the associated email address.
If you don't know your password, and have no email address, you are going to have problems because it's difficult to see how Apple are going to identify you as the authorised owner of the account. New ipod passcode locked out. tried other steps still need help please

Hi passcode locked out of daughters new ipod. we backed up on computer this morning or rather it automatically backed up when plugged into itunes as directed from other posts i was reading. Then I tried to restore but it said I needed to turn off "find my ipod" which I cant because I need the passcode to get to settings. I then tried the home button power off but when i get to itunes restore ipod it tells me I need passcode. pleae help what step am I missing? go s l o w l y please I am new to mac after 20 years on pc and need help in steps that are not intuitive to me.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I've searched and read 4gb vs 8gb discussions, but still need help.

I've done my due dilligance by searching and reading all discussions related to this matter- but I still have a question.
I've decided on the 13" Air, 15, 256gb. My last decision is the ever so debated 4gb vs 8gb.
From ALL of the discussions I've read (here and elsewhere online) 4gb seems to be enough for the average person, and some have even tested the capacity by opening 16 applications and programs. Most of the responders are also saying 4gb is enough "if you want to keep the computer 2-3 years". Well- what if I'd like mine to last 5-7 years? (I'm working on a 2006 dying MacBook Pro currently with 2gb memory and a 100gb harddrive).
This is a HUGE purchase for me, as I do not have money to spend often on replacing big ticket items. I'd like to NOT spend the extra $136 unless I need to, to make this machine last longer than 3 years.

Since cost seems to be an issue for you, between the 128 and the 256,....go with the 128 and the 8 GIG of memory,.....such as you have detailed, it would be a better choice given what you have well explained what you want out of you computer. Just pack around a super slim HD 500GB drive in the laptop bag with your air,..they’re only 7mm thick HD, much thinner than the AIR.
I have an 13” I5 128 gig, and have nearly ever APP imaginable installed, and still have 82 Gig of wiggle room for editing, and other space needed for work.
IF ASKED which is the better upgrade choice for the money,….256 upgrade, or the 8GIG of memory, most here will agree that it’s the 8gig of memory.
HD space is extremely cheap (except inside the AIR, its SSD). If you don’t mind packing around a tiny HD, 65$ will get you 1TB, or 500GB in a superslim HD

Still need help :( loading outside files in actionscript

Ive been all over the forums online trying to get this
problem fixed and no one has really settled it for me (its been
MONTHS)
So I'm going to attempt to be as in depth as possible and
post code as well.

The problem is when i load multiple swf files into levels.
When i first call on an outside swf from a button inside the main
file the code looks something like this:

Ive messed around with the code so many times now trying
everyones different suggestions that i dont even know if that is
the code I have live right now but i know its not working how i
want it to. The problem seems to be that i can only load into level
1, and when i do that, going between these various calls on outside
files there is a 'flicker' of a frame or two of the OLD previously
loaded file that will play BEFORE the new one initiates. As this is
a portfolio site it needs to be polished so i can't have stuff like
this plaguing it. Its been unfinished for months now because i just
can't figure it out. Please please help me if you can.. hopefully
you like a challenge because i just havent been able to get the
help i need from anywhere else :/

Still have a problem with paying bill/dd's. As my next bill is due by the end of the week (23/9/11) I will be billed for the whole amount. Due to current circumstances I need to be able to have a monthly budget. This is something I tried to do but without going over old ground this is currently not working. As setting up a DD requires payment of outstanding amounts I am looking for now is options which BT can offer to be able to pay my bill in regular monthly payments. I also have been charged for late payments which is not helping the issue. Could you please clarify what options are available for me to do this? I believe that I have shown 'goodwill' on my behalf to make payments but to stop this from remianing an ongoing problem I would like to resolve this ASAP. Thanks.

Still need help i tunes problems

this is what i have so far
ok first off i know a good amount about comps so please dont treat me like a noob
where to get started...ok well my computer updated one night and then i tried to update my itunes and it wouldnt up date...then i tried to go to my desktop to open itunes and it wouldnt open. So then i went to start-all programs-itunes and it still wouldnt open. So then i when to my computer program files and tried to go in there to get it to launch and it still wouldnt. Then i tried to do what most people that have windows do i tried a uninstall reinstall of itunes and it wouldnt uninstall it was saying that it was missing the itunes msi file or some crap like that im really starting to get frustrated with this crap so if any one can help me please do so also if any one knows of any other programs that are compatible with the ipod so i dont have to use itunes please inform me of that program thanks

Hmm...I was having just a bit of trouble following what you were trying to say. It seemed to kinda ramble on. So, what exactly did the error message say when you re-installed? The first time when you noticed the iTunes trouble, did you just get an hourglass that flashed away or was there some sort of error message that said iTunes has encountered a problem...? I Kinda need to know what exactly happened when so I can get a grasp of what's going on.

with that one, let's try the following procedure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

Loading External SWF Files: Making Things Simple... Still need help here =)

This is my first post meant to be my first post and I'm learning AS3. Didn't know about this forum but now I hope to have the time to visit it a lot to help and be helped! =)
Well, I'm trying to import some external files to my main flash file with buttons. Yes, this is a newbie question, but I'm learning... I click button 1 and content 1 is loaded, click button 2 and content 2 is loaded, and so on. So, I got two ways for doing it:

The problem with this first option is that whenever I click a button, it don't renew the content of the "box"... instead, the content loaded is stacked over the last one and I don't know how to clean it... The user Andrei did the trick with the "while statement" so the above code is working but I don't know how to use tween with it...

Well, the second option "is" working but I have some problems with the Tween... I have to wait the tween to finish before clicking another button or the tween will bug... I don't know how to disable the buttons until the tween is finished =/
Now, I used to have one tween for each function but now I got it inside a function and just call it inside each function. Simple for you but I was like WOW when I had the idea and put it to practice! But I'm still repeating a lot of codes here with the "cityLoader.load(cityURL);" but when I try to put it inside the function "cityTweens" it will just open the Montreal City, maybe because I'm calling it as soon as the site opens...
I'm almost sure I can make things simple, like mixing the idea of the first code (currentCity+".swf") so I don't need to call a function for each button. I just don't know how to do it...
Could anyone help me? I'll also be VERY happy if you point me to any tip like good practices that I'm not following.

As I said in your previous post, removing the child would not do the trick. Technically, you need to remove it after the tween is finished.
In any case there are several issues with how you approach the whole thing. First of all, if you target your application to be on Internet - swf loading will not happen instantly - thus you, perhaps, need to consider waiting for swfs to be loaded before you doing anything with them. But if you just do it on local machine - you don't really need for them to show up. On the other hand, even with local environment it makes sense to take into account asynchronous/unpredicatable nature of external file loading.
Also, your code can be more comact and the same functionality delegated to a single function. The code below demonstrates one of the ways. This is not the bes way though because it forces to load objects again although they were loaded already. But this is another story. I did not check code in action, of course (this is just an idea) - it is up to your to work out bugs:

Still need help with iChat

I have tried everything sugested in these posts to get iChat to work through my wireless router Dlink DI-524. I have even contacted apple care (waste of time as far as I am concerned)
I have filled out the folowing and pasted it here with as much info as I could answer.
Please take a look at the following and let me know if there is something I am missing to get this D* program working.
There are lots of things you can do to help the regular posters in this Discussion area help you.
First of all the current Discussions were designed on a One Person/Problem to one Thread basis. This was to try and stop several people jumping on what looked like a similar problem and the thread ending up with 5 or more different answer to what in fact were different problems.
Now linked to this is the need to have all the info you have in one go, up front so that we can answer as succinctly and as quickly as we can without repeating questions over and over to get to a start point.
As a Start go here and enter your computer and OS details so they appear on every Post you make.
After that you need to list these things:
1) Have you done the Quicktime Streaming setting ?
Go to System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab. In the drop down set the speed to match your download or to a max of 1.5meg

2) Are you running your Mac with the Firewall On ?
NO
If so have you set up ports for iChat ?
3) Did you upgrade from Panther ? NO
Do any of these things effect you ?
If they did and you have done them please state so.
4) How are you connected to the internet ? THROUGH WIRELESS
a) We need to know device make and Model ?

b) We need how you have opened the ports for iChat ?
* UPnP ? ENABLED
* Port Forwarding BUMP – Thought you only need to use this if firewall is on
* Port Triggering BUMP
* DMZ BUMP
c) We need to know if you know if the device is in Bridge Mode ? BUMP
(sends your Public IP through to your computer or router).
d) Do you have a router as well ?
* Is it doing DHCP ? Do you only set this up if using built in Ethernet?
* Is it an Airport device ? YES
* Have you opened the ports there ? BUMP
* By which method ? (see above list) NOT SURE
5) Do you have any iChat Add-Ons ? NO
List them if you have.
Also state if you downloaded them when you were running Panther and if you have updated them.
1. iChatUSBCam
2. iGlasses
3. Showmacster
4. ChatFX
6) Does anything in this FAQ effect you and the Add-ons in addition to 5) ? NO. At least I don’t think so.
7) Does it have anything to do with connecting to a PC ? NO

Hi Kaisoboy,
This page has the instructions on how to access your device and pics to help and
It does not show UPnP in the menu.
It could be that you have newer firmware than the pics.
However it should still help.
DO NOT set the ports shown as they are wrong.
Set the ones I gave you.
