Interested in subscribing to iTunes Match but concerned about number of devices
My family and I all share 1 iTunes library. All purchases are made using the same AppleID account. We currently have 17 apple devices and will most likely be adding more with Xmas coming up next month. We are interested in subscribing to iTunes Match. Can / How do we use iTunes Match across all these devices? I would guess that there are many family's out there like mine where each person has an iPhone, computer & iPad. Limiting iTunes Match to 10 devices will not work, especially if you have a large family. Hopefully I'm not understanding it correctly and someone is able to assist.
Thank you. This is in facto, too dificult.... Surely I am missing somethin...

" Authorizing and deauthorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can sync or use apps, audiobooks, books, music, movies, or other content you've purchased from the iTunes Store.
You can use or sync your purchases from the iTunes Store on up to five different computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible computers). When you sync or play an item you've purchased, your computer is "authorized" for purchase using your Apple ID."
OK
Then.....

"vWhen you subscribe to or enable iTunes Match, your device or computer will be associated with your Apple ID. Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. For more information about associating devices and computers to an Apple ID, see this article. "
And "see this article" here link directs us to:
"Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. "
What is then the "truth"? When I try to add another computer it seems (previous post) that the first is true (I only have 7 devices associated with my Apple ID). Not the second.
Cheers

HT1296 How can I sync my music from my Ipod to my computer
How can I sync my music from my Ipod to my computer
iTunes sync is one way from your computer to your iOS device.
You will need a third party software such as TouchCopy to do that.
Do you still have access to your old computer with your iTunes library?

PLEASE HELP!!! I've been told that before I try and authorize my laptop as my phones new home, I need to ensure that I have at least one contact and one event in the address book and contact list in Microsoft Outlook.. Not only do I not understand how that is relevant to iTunes, but regardless, I don't even have the programme on my computer.
The main thing that I am worried about is losing my music, as there are thousands of songs I've obtained from the old "home", and anything of any major importance such as phone numbers, messages or photos etc.You need to copy everything from your old comuter, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The iphone is not a backup/storage device.
The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync contacts and calendars to a computer with no contacts and clandars, then they will be erased as well. -
OK....... I have an Ipod and an Iphone. Would like all the Movies and music i have on both. My computer broke and now the only music i have is on ipod. It wont let me transfer to itunes. It says this device is linked to a different library and if i want to sync to a new one and delete everything on it. UH....NO Is there a way to do this without deleting ? All purchases were made though the same apple id.
- An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
- Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. -
I'm now getting a message saying there are no songs stored in my cloud. How can I recover my music and get it downloaded on to my new Windows laptop?
I logged into my account, then I synced all my songs onto the library using my iPod. All my songs are on there except the ones from CD's.

How do i locate my library when my ipod and my computer blew up?
my computer was very old and finally gave up on me. at the time, my ipod was frozen and the only thing that i could do to fix it was to completly reset it, no music or videos came back. so i have a new lap top and i'm trying to find a way to bring back my library. i know that i had over $5000.00 in songs, albums, and videos. any help will be greatly appreiciated.
You might be.
For $5K, it's worth the time to see if the old PC's hard drive is still OK. You (or a PC repair shop) can put it in an external hard drive USB enclosure, and see if you can get to your old files. Not just itunes, but digital pictures & other documents you don't want to lose.
If the power supply or motherboard went bad, the hard drive might still be viable.
Good luck, and make backups in the future! -
How can i sync different materials into my iPod and iPad on the same computer?
i don't want iTunes to sync all the apps from my iPod to my iPad, what can i do?
When the devices are attached to your computer's iTunes just select the apps that you want to have on each device on their apps tab. I manually manage the content on my iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch so only the content that I select gets installed onto each device.
You can also set up separate playlists for the two devices for music, or create separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 -
Both myself and my wife have 2 separate iTunes accounts, I subscribe to iTunes Match. Music purchased on my wife's account appear on our computer iTunes library but my iPad cannot access the music she has purchased. Is there any way to overcome this
The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

No. You can only subscribe to iTunes Match from your "home" store.

How do I turn on home sharing so I can see all my iphone photos on all my devices, ipad, apple TV, and home computer? I must have stopped home sharing when setting this up but would like to turn it on again.
You might have been using the iPad every day and this issue could have cropped up anyway. I have read where users state that they used their iPad the night before, plugged in to charge it over night and they had the connect to iTunes message on the iPad the next morning.
What I'm saying is that what happened to you can't be explained other than something went wrong. Brilliant I know, but how can anyone possibly know what happended for sure.
Without a computer - and I know that with iOS 5 an iPad can be PC free - it is my belief that you could be facing issues down the line because even with iCloud - if you get the connect to iTunes message - there is no way to correct the problem without a computer.
Even of you had been using the device every day, charging it every night and taking great pains to ensure that the iPad was well cared for, once the connect to iTunes message pops up - you still need a computer.
Unless I have been missing something for the last six months, iCloud can't bail anyone out of this scenario. -
I have an ipod previously linked someone else's account. We used to share the library and they used to update my iPod for me. Now I have my own ID and laptop with iTunes. How to I extract my music from the iPod and add it to the library ? At present, I cannot do it because I am not authorised on the account the music was orginally purchased on - but I have my iPod still.
Is there anyway for me to extract the music files from my iPod and download them into my new iTunes library and using my own Apple ID?
Help! I paid for most of this stuff but they left with their computer and now I can't even update my iPod!
ThanksUnless you want to learn more than most of us want to know about being a good geek, you'll need a third-party software utility to do that. CopyTrans worked well for me when I moved songs from an old iPod to a new computer for a friend.
So 1.) set up your (PC?) computer with iTunes, 2.) get something like CopyTrans which imports the stuff from your iPod to iTunes on your computer, 3.) make sure all the files from your iPod got copied, and then 4.) set iTunes to be the Mother Ship, which will then write all your old and future stuff to your iPod.
Make sure you've 5.) tested a backup strategy for your iTunes library going forward, because Apple would prefer you'd buy everything again from them. iTunes no longer has a good, native backup utility. -
Have iPod touch 4 with extensive music list. How do I transfer it to the cloud so my other devices can play the music? I subscribed to ITunes Match, but it's not functioning
