I suddenly cannot send or receive messages in Thunderbird.

I think my version of Thunderbird was updated yesterday. Since then, I have not been able to send or receive any messages.

Thanks, Airmail. I tried turning off the firewall for a test message, did not work. I updated Windows and that resolved the issue.

  • I cannot send or receive messages on iMessages since password reset.

I forgot the password to login to my Mac and had to reset it using my Apple-ID. Prompts then came up asking me to put in my icloud/facetime etc passwords. I had to figure out my old password in order to login to the Apple keychain or something to be able to automatically login to the Wifi and such. I did manage to recover my password and everything seems to work fine now except iMessages though, which I didn't realize until someone sent me an iMessage that I never got and I noticed that I also couldn't send any messages back even though I was connected to the internet. I tried logging out of iMessages and back in, but that only made things worse as I couldn't even log back in and had to change my Apple-ID password to log back in (because putting in my Apple-ID for the iMessages password in the prompt that came up after I put in my Apple-ID password didn't work). Now I am logged back in but still cannot send or receive messages.

I have restarted and now I realize that I am still having the issue with not being able to access the keychain "login", so I get 3 options, to either continue, create a new keychain or update the keychain password. According to some Apple page I found the password for the login keychain should be the old password (which I forgot). Even though I recovered this password, this doesn't work. I also tried my original Mac password, and my Apple-ID password. I don't know what else it could be. Should I just make a new login keychain at this point?

  • I dropped my Iphone 5 which resulted in it shattering and the screen was still on but it was black with only a white line through it so I couldnt access the phone however I switched over to my Droid and now I cannot send or receive messages?

I dropped my Iphone 5 which resulted in it shattering and the screen was still on but it was black with only a white line through it so I couldnt access the phone however I switched over to my Droid and now I cannot send or receive messages and I cant turn off imessage because I cant see anything on the screen.  Help?

Then the bottom of the support document states that if you do not have access to the device (which unfortunately because of the screen issue you do not) to contact Apple Care. That is what you need to do.

  • I cannot send or receive messages

On iPhone 4, I cannot send or receive messages. In the settings, send and receive, it will not let me select my phone number.  Also keep getting error messages when trying to connect to iMessage. If I turn it off, I still cannot send or receive messages

The phone number is always gray and so is mine. Is there a ticked mark next to the phone number?
If you switch off iMessage and you cannot text then it's certainly your carrier's problem because SMS & MMS are carrier features. Not everyone has an iPhone with iMessage configured so SMS & MMS should alway worked as long as your text & data plan are properly provisioned.
Delete the Messages app from multitask-list and do a reset :
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

I cannot send or receive messages from one specific buddy. When I go to double click on the name on my Buddy List, nothing happens. When she sends me messages I am alerted of the message but cannot see it. In the "Window" tab her name appears as if we are chatting but I cannot view the window.
    Help!

Sounds like they have not got the ports open to allowing Incoming stuff to their computer.
Any router firewall or basic settings they have may allow the outgoing call but not accept any incoming stuff.

  • Cannot send or receive messages

Cannot send or receive text messages, youtube and safari on Iphone5.  Have rebooted several times and followed the trouble shoots at Apple website nothing seem to be working.   Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.  Thank you

The receipt of text (SMS) messages on the phone is a carrier function. However the use of youtube and Safari are functions that depend on data. Are you connected via wifi or cellular data when you have this problem? If cellular, it is possible you have an issue with your carrier plan. If this is the case, check to make sure you have cellular data turned on, and test the Internet again. You might contact the carrier to make sure your account is provisioned for data and also for SMS.

    Hi Alo816,
I'm sorry to hear you are having such extensive issues with Messages on your iPhone. If you continue having issues sending or receiving Messages, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
If you continue to have issues with Messages after that troubleshooting, especially if it is still having or crashing, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring your data. You may find this article useful:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

  • The Air Drop Icon is not available.  Cannot send or receive messages from anyone not using Messenger.

I have checked to see that my iPad is using the latest software available and it is.  I have followed on-line directions to access Air Drop, but I do not have the Icon for it anywhere.
I am not able to send or receive messages to anyone not using Messenger.  Thee Apple page says I should be able to.
    Any help appreciated.

    Yes, it is 2 questions.
My iPad is Model MC763LL/A - I hope that is the answer!  I do have Blue Tooth on.  I am not connected to WiFi, but am on Cellular Data here.  That should not have a bearing on the icon being loaded, should it?

  • Suddenly cannot send or receive mail

mail was working fine earlier in the day. updated to 10.4.10 the day prior. I had changed nothing with the mail preferences. but i am wondering if the problem has something to do with the update. I use cable internet that does not support mac mail!
    g3 pismo powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It shouldn’t matter whether your ISP supports Macs or not. They should still be able to tell you what the right account settings are supposed to be, or whether they’ve made any changes that would explain why Mail suddenly cannot connect to the mail server now...
Open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access, choose Keychain First Aid from the application menu, and proceed to repair the keychain. If that doesn’t work, you may try removing the password entry from the keychain and letting Mail create it again the next time it asks for it.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible (i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.), or shutting down both the computer and the router/modem used to connect to Internet, restarting, and see whether that makes a difference.

  • Cannot send or receive email using Thunderbird, but can get it just fine on Verizon server.

Every time Mozilla/Thunderbird does a major upgrade I have a problem with sending and receiving my email. When trying to send an email, I get the message:
"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 Missing or literal domains not allowed. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again."
Using my regular email password, I am able to get my email from the Verizon server just fine. It simply will not work with Thunderbird. Every time there is a major upgrade I spend hours and hours with Verizon techs with them trying to figure out what is wrong. Yesterday was one such day and we looked at EVERYTHING and no reason could be found for the problem. The tech concluded that the problem had to be with Thunderbird and that I should re-enstall it!!!! I don't have time to reinstall it! Somehow it has been fixed before but we don't even know how.
    Please HELP!!
