I switched on home sharing on My computer And on appleTV, but still cannot Control AppleTV with My ipad

Hi Wikowiko!
If you want to be able to control your Apple TV through your iPad, you will want to download a free app from Apple called Remote. An article we have published online can help you understand more of the features of the Remote app, and can be found here:
About Remote app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

can I use home sharing between my computer and my new ipad (3rd generation)  if so, how.
    Thanks

You can use it to share the library on your computer to the iPad, not the other way around.
On the computer, set up homesharing in the advanced menu. On the iPad go to settings > music.

  • I have followed the Apple Support instructions I did it 3 times and this message always appear: "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer" and 'Error 7' but still not able to run iTunes. Anyone have a suggestion... Please!

I have followed the Apple Support instructions but these 2 errors always appear: "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer" and 'Error 7' but still not able to run iTunes. Anyone have a suggestion?

Try completely removing and reinstalling iTunes and all related components; you may need to do this multiple times. It won't normally affect the iTunes library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • I SET UP THE HOME SHARING ON MY COMPUTER, AND i CAN STREAM MY PHOTOS AND SEE ALL THE VIDEOS AND LISTEN SONGS IN MY ITUNES, BUT CAN NOT DO HOME SHARING, ON THE TV, ALWAYS SHOWS "TURN ON HOME SHARING ON YOUR OMPUTER WITH YOUR ID WHICH I DID BUT NOTHING HELP

I just bought my apple tv yesterday and SET UP THE HOME SHARING ON MY COMPUTER, I CAN STREAM MY PHOTOS AND SEE ALL THE VIDEOS AND LISTEN SONGS IN MY ITUNES, BUT CAN NOT DO HOME SHARING, ON THE TV, ALWAYS SHOWS "TURN ON HOME SHARING ON YOUR OMPUTER WITH YOUR ID WHICH I DID BUT NOTHING HAPPEN. WHAT'S WRONG? WHAT SHALL I DO NOW?

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem.  The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6.  (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

  • HT4557 how do you use home sharing through your computer and ipod to view content???

i am signed in to home shaing on my computer and on my ipod but nothing in happening can u tell me how to use it through my computer and ipod instead of through computer to computer or ipod to ipod

I have not sync with another computer.  Brand new Ipod touch from christmas.  same computer.  I have however conected it to this computer before & because I was ingnorant it synced automatically with this same computer.  I was ****** because it messed everything up.  So I erased my ipod completlely and started over.  I also un-installed itunes and started over with its as well.  I then put only music that I wanted on my ipod onto my computer in itunes.
Now I cant figure out how to get that specific music on my ipod... this is all very maddening!!.. I feel like throughing both computer and ipod out my 2 story bedroom window

  • HT4527 The computer that has my i Tunes library has crashed, How do I turn off Home Sharing on this computer and tranfer my files to another computer?

How do i turn off home sharing and transfer my ITunes library to another computer?

Your music will only be where you put it.  You can download the itunes program and sign into your account on any computer, but your music/content will not be there unless you put it there.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod.  File>Transfer Purchases

  • Home Sharing - Can See Computer on Apple TV but Cannot Browse

I have a Macbook Air (2011) and Apple TV (2nd generation) and I have successfully set up home sharing. I have the ability to select the Apple TV from iTunes on my Macbook Air and use it to play music/movies. However, when trying to browse the computer from the Apple TV, it attempts to connect and then fails with a generic error message about not being able to reach the compuer. However, I have the computer on, iTunes open, and am listening to music. I even tried it without music to no avail.

I think I've isolated the problem. The shared videos that are missing from the ipad mini "Videos" app are 1080p. I thought the ipad mini could play 1080p, or at least downcode to somthing it could display.
    Maybe it can't.

  • HT2688 ihave purchased an apple tv box, and now want to activate home sharing on my computer, and as i am not computer sauvy, i  am  having trouble  activating  the home share .

i need help activating the home sharing, i went to i tunes and it talked about the product butnowhere what to do to activate it.

    Hello!
I have come across the same issue and chose your response to reply to since it seems to be the most recent- First, the set up at the house:
    MacBook Pro mid-2010
    AppleTV Gen2
    Belkin router
    Two iPhones- 4s
iPad 3- Retina / WiFi only (set up with a different apple id- wife's iPad)
So- I have the same apple ID set up on the laptop, apple TV and my phone.  Home Sharing is set to the same account on all these devices and the AppleTV does not recognize any of them.  I do not see the Apple TV, nor the laptop, in the remote app on my phone.
I have the network set with a password in WPA/WPA2 mode and no firewall set up on with the router or the laptop...
    Help?
I've read through many comments about ipV6- but that seemed to be based on windows machines, I've read that a mid 2010 MacBook Pro doesn't have the guts to handle homesharing, I have restarted and restored the appleTV as well as logged everything out and back in again...
Not sure where to go from here- thanks for any guidance.

  • I enabled home sharing on my computer and iPad, but I can't access anything on home sharing. It doesn't appear on my computer or iPad, where you would be able to see the shared content.

Am I just not undestanding how it works or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

  • Song authorization required for home sharing; tried all suggestions I could find but still not working!

I've been having an issue transferring some of my song files in itunes via homesharing from my "old computer" an ibook G4 to my "new computer" a MacBook Pro. I've been able to transfer the majority of the songs; however, when i try to import certain songs, i receive a message that my MacBook Pro is not authorized for those particular songs. Ok, I've been to the support boards and spent 2 hours searching and trying to resolve this issue with the suggestions posted:
    — All software is updated on both computers; same message;
    — I deauthorized/reauthorized both computers, restarted both; same message;
    — I realise some of my songs were downloaded from two different apple ID's; I signed in with the other Apple ID to try transfering them; same message;
    — I deleted the SI, SO? folders on both computers; same message;
So after all that, I tried transferring songs the same exact way, but this time from my MacBook Pro to my iBook G4 (mostly because I wanted to update my ipod)— all the new songs I've downloaded since using my MacBook Pro transferred without a problem or in need of any authorization. How is this possible? The process works fine from the new computer to old computer but not vice versa, which is the way I want it to work. I'm highly frustrated and confused. Please help if you have any suggestions-- I'd appreciate it!

To anyone else who is having this problem, mine was finally resolved.
I apparently have another Apple ID, which i did not create, in which these songs are shown as being purchased under. At one time, my account was hacked into, and the hacker must have changed my ID name somehow (by removing one letter of the original ID name). At the time, i didn't report it; i just created another Apple ID. Thankfully, I was able to log into this hacked account by resetting my password. I did have to supply an answer for my security question, but it was the same. I wouldn't have even known about this other ID if not for emailing a complaint to [email protected]
What a pain, but so glad it's over with!

  • TS1453 Home sharing isn't working and I can't seem to get it fixed.

When I try to go under computers on my Apple TV (2nd Gen), it says "Loading Jennifer's Library" for several minutes before I get an error telling me "Could not connect to Jennifer's Library. Make sure the computer is on the same network as your Apple tv, the itunes version is up to date, and itunes is running." I've tried literally everything short of completely reformatting my computer and I'm not doing that.
-Both my computer and apple tv are hooked up to the correct router.
-I checked the internet connection on the tv, it's in working condition.
-All my software, both on my Apple TV and on my computer are up to date.
-I have restarted itunes and my apple tv.
-I've done a reset on the apple tv.
-I've turned off homesharing on my computer and tv for 1 minute and turned it back on.
    -I've restarted my router.
    -I've restarted my modem.
-My router software is up to date.
I can play music from my computer onto my TV but as soon as I try to play my movie, which I've watched before on my apple tv and know it works, I get "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later."
I'm at a loss for what I should do next. Everything I've tried has failed. If you have any suggestions, I'd be very appreciative.

    Home sharing isn't working either
Which is why you can not use the remote app.  Did you turn on home sharing on your computer and on ATV?
eve though they have the same Apple ID.
Did you enter the ApplieID in the home sharing login though?  Or just in for the iTunes store, or iCloud, or photo sharing, or something else?
Home sharing isn't working either, I can't play or transmit any video from my iPad to the Apple TV because it doesn't recognize it
That would be AirPlay, not homesharing.  THey are not related.  Did you enable air play on all the devices?
Have you run the network test tools on ATV?  Can ATV access the iTunes store, Netflix, etc?

  • How can I use home sharing? (main computer)

Well, I have a Windows PC and almost on my music is in Home Sharing with my sister (her computer is the main computer, I'm pretty sure) . When her computer is closed, the home sharing disapeers.
Is there anything I can do so that I can always have home sharing or move the music to my music folder? Something like that?
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thank you!

First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
