I synced my iPad to my iTunes on my computer and lost my movies, I synced my iPad to my iTunes on my computer and lost my movies

I tried backing up my iPad to iCloud. Unsuccessfully. Ten I hooked up my computer to my iTunes and synced it. I got all my music, but my movies that I purchased are no long on my iPad.

My only guess is that you ran out of room in your iCloud.  You might have to purchase more. Usually, you get a pop-up that tells you, you may have regarded it and just didn't think aything about it! I would look into how much storage your iCloud has.
Hope this helps!

  • Itunes will not open and sync my Ipad after Imac update.  Why?

I had a computer udate on my IMac yesterday and now I cannot get into my Itunes at all.  I have no access to my music or videos, but my pictures pop up when I plug in my Ipad to the IMac.  There is a message that comes up on my screen when I try to click into Itunes and it says; "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."   I'm not sure what to do to be able to get back into my Itunes and sync my Ipad to it.  Any suggestions?

If you've reached five authorizations for your iTunes Store account, there will be a button in your Store account information that will allow you to deauthorize all systems associated with that account. Log into your Store account and you should see it. You can then reauthorize the computers you're using now.

  • I have one apple ID for my MAC and another used for both my iPhone and IPad.  Purchases from iTunes don't appear on either my iPhone or iPad only only the MAC. How do I sync the two IDs?

I have one Apple ID for my MAC and iTunes account and another that is used for both my iTunes and iPad.  When I purchased music from iTunes using the Mac ID, the music isn't available on my iTunes or iPad.  Neither lets me change my ID so how do I fix this issue so I can play the music on all three?

    Hello chlanli
You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

  • On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up?

On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up? The tracks are from voice recordings that were downloaded from an extrernal drive and weren't necessarily tagged as spoken audio. Do I need to go back into itunes and relabel these tracks so they will show up on my ipad2?
Thanks in advance for your help!

With the iPad connected to the computer, while iTunes is running, click on the iPad name on the left side under devices. Click on the Movies tab and look for Movie Rentals. You want to "Move" the films to the iPad.

  • Hard drive died on iMac and getting replacement.  I have all photos backed up on my iPad 3, which was synced directly to the dead iMac's iTunes.  How can I move them back to my laptop and eventually to the repaired iMac?

I'd like to restore photos from my iPad3 to the iMac once I have a new drive. I had uploaded them directly from the iMac onto the IPad via iTunes.   That iTunes was wiped out in the drive failure.  In the meantime I wanted to move the photos to my MacBook Pro, but iTunes tells me they belong to another iTunes (mine also but was on the iMac) and syncing will erase the content on the iPad.  Moved all photos (4000+) to an album in iPhoto on the iPad, but iPhoto on the MacBook doesn't see the album-  It only see photos directly taken on the iPad. I seem to be caught in an owenership issue between my photos, my computers, and permissions due to the dirve failure.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Photos synced to an iDevice are different from ones taken by the device's camera.
Difference between camera roll, photo stream, and photo library - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3846502
You will need to use a third party utility to try to recover them as it is assumed that if you transferred them from your computer  you alredy have the original files on the computer and a backup of the computer itself (do not rely upon your iPad as a backup).  Furthermore, the photos transferred to your iPad have reduced quality so they are not as good as the originals.
Here's my old list of utilities (this list was really done for music rescue so make sure they do photos too):
Note: The information below hasn't been updated since early 2013.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How to I get my apps off iphone/ipad and into itunes without syncing?

I had my computer crash and recently restored it. I transferred my music back in via a hard drive and now that I am about to resync my phone, I either have to erase the phone with what is in iTunes, or erase what is in itunes with the phone. I have different info in both, so can I pull my contact info and apps off the phone into itunes so when itunes erases the phone, everything is back on?
Or, do I have to erase itunes with phone info and then just reload music from hard drive?
During the crash, I bought an ipad and synced it to a different computer so will need to sync it to this one instead and I have a few apps/podcasts/movies on it as well so don’t want to erase them and may have to do the same thing.
    Thanks!

All apps on your iPhone and iPad should be in your iTunes library on your computer, which should be included with your computer's backup per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
With Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for each device's sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading an app with either device, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync the device with iTunes after doing so.
If the apps on each device are different, with your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. Repeat this for your iPad - Transfer Purchaes From - the name of your iPad.
Then you will need to select Sync Apps under the Apps tab making sure all apps on the connected device are selected below. This will not prevent the device from being erased of all iTunes content with the first sync.
If all apps on either device were in your iTunes library and your iTunes library was backed up per the instructions included with the link provided and restored from said backup, no iTunes content on either device would be erased with the first sync with iTunes.

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • Some of the albums in the Beatles package I downloaded from itunes will not sync with my iPhone 5. Some songs won't play. They did sync to my iPad and they all play on my iPad. What can I do? I've already deleted all songs from the iPhone and re-synced.

I downloaded the entire Beatles collection from iTunes in 2011. Some songs skip and won't play. Some albums won't sync to the phone but they sync to my iPad. I've deleted the entire music library from my iPhone, shut the phone down, turned the phone on and synced again to add the music but now 2 albums won't even sync (Rubber Soul and Revolver). I've tried dragging the songs to the iPhone, no luck. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc.

  • My iPad keeps reinstalling Apps on subsequent syncs that were originally successfully deleted by unchecking the App box in iTunes

I'm having problems with iTunes reinstalling Apps that I want on my iPhone, but not my iPad. Furthermore, my household uses home sharing and if an App is on one iPad, iTunes puts it on all the devices. I found that if if I'm in iTunes with the iPad connected, I can delete Apps by unselecting the box for the App and then syncing it. All unselected Apps will be deleted this way, but that's where my problem starts. With the very next sync, all of the previously deleted Apps are then reinstalled. It seems that as long as the App is in my library, iTunes will reinstall it. I tried deleting the Apps directly from the device, and they're still reinstalled. The only way I can delete the Apps successfully is by deleting the App by unchecking the box and then syncing. Then I must delete the App from all devices in my home sharing network as well as my library. Here is where it really gets frustrating. If I want the App back on my iPhone by reinstalling it directly to the iPhone, iTunes will add it back  it to my iPad with the next sync.  My only option so far seems to be  to keep the Apps on all my devices, or none of my devices. To make matters worse, I have many of my daughter's Apps on my iPad and she has many of mine on her Mini-iPad (because of  home sharing). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've been having the same problem with my iPad most recently, and I think I may have an answer.  I have a lot of apps installed and more that are not installed. I sync with iTunes once every few months; however, I regularly update my apps directly on the iPad.  Whenever I sync with my computer, iTunes will copy the latest purchases from my iPad (including the latest updates) to the computer.
What I've noticed is that iTunes only copies a few apps at a time.  I'm guessing this is to speed up the syncing process.  Every time I press Sync, even just having completed a sync, iTunes finds some more apps to copy over from the iPad.  Imagine with 50 apps updated on the iPad since the last install, even if iTunes copies 10 apps per sync, it still takes 5 syncs to copy over all of the apps.  I've also noticed that every time I try to remove an app when iTunes is going through these rounds of copying from the iPad, my removed apps get reinstalled.
The solution: sync iTunes repeatedly until it has copied all apps from the iPad to the computer. Only once that has been completed should you try to remove the apps you no longer want on your iPad.
Hopefully this will all be taken care of with iOS 5 and the wireless syncing!

  • Voice memos in iTunes don't sync to iPad

I've tried several times to sync voice memos from my macbook to my iPad (originally recorded on my iPhone) but without obvious success. All the right boxes are ticked. I'm assuming they should appear as a playlist in the music app? If not, where do I find them?

I have the same problem as Newfoster.
    Downloaded itunes 17th December 09'
    Got my Itouch 24th December.
Since 5th january, its been working excellent, photos and music syncing fine.
I decided to put some "free" applications on only.
    WoW Armory. WoW Authenificator.
I downloaded them. went onto Devices > Applications, And there i can see the 2 applications i downloaded. yet, the only thing on that page that responds in the "sync" button in the bottom right hand corner of that page, everything else wont let me click or move.
    Capacity: 7gb
    Availible: 3.4gb
    Version: 3.1.2 (7D11)
I hope i can find a solution fast, because im beginning to run in-patient with it. I've tried seeking advice from friends, but they have "jailbroken" ipods.
Also tried on a friends computer, app page wouldnt respond either.
    Many regards. Fergal.

  • ITunes not syncing App layout or folders to iPad (iTunes 10.1/iPad 4.2.1

I eagerly awaited 4.2.1 to finally put my apps into folders on my iPad. I have nearly 300 apps which are unorganized, many not accessible from the standard iPad screens since they go beyond the 11 app pages.
I spent a bunch of time making folders and organizing this mess using the brand new iTunes 10.1, iPad 4.2.1 and on my Apply / Sync, ALL of the time customizing was lost -- none of the folders appeared on the Ipad after the sync.
I tried even moving 1 app from another screen, and it didn't sync over.
I then made a couple folders on the iPad directly, and when reconnected to iTunes, I see these folders. Any subsequent alterations made on iTunes don't sync over.
I wonder if this is related to going over my 11th screen limit?
I dread dealing with all of these using only the iPad. I know it’s a lot of apps, but that's what folders are for!
Anyone else not getting iTunes to sync folders/app arrangements with iTunes 10.1 and iPad 4.2.1?

I have this issue as well. I have an iPhone 3G 16GB, just updated to the latest iTunes and 4.2.1 firmware. I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I've spend like 1,5 hours total reorganizing apps, all for nothing.

  • ITunes not syncing to iPhone 4S or iPad 2

I've noticed that the music libraries on my three devices differed significantly however I have never been able to sort out the issue.
I have a Macbook Pro(OSX 10.8.2), iTunes 11.0, an iPad 2 (6.0.1) and an iPhone 4S (6.0.1).  Each device is signed in to the same icloud account, I've read the instructions on setting up icloud so that hopefully it syncs correctly however my music libraries are vastly different.  I have home sharing turned on, and while connected to wifi I can change the library on either of the two mobile devices under "shared" to my Library and utilize the additional tunes, however when away from wifi or my MBP is closed I can not access the music.
My question is this- in the information I read on Apple's website discussing iTunes and iCloud, it is supposed to push all new downloads to the devices logged in that do not currently have that media.  So if I purchase a song on my iPhone 4S, theoretically it should push to my MBP and iPad 2 from the way I read it.  Or am I going to have to re-sync my iPhone and iPad everytime I add a new song or album so they all have the same music library?
This seems very redundant and a poor use for the cloud.  If that's the case, there isn't much use for iCloud in my personal opinion.
Is anyone else having this issue?

For what it is worth, when I first turned my iCloud syncing of documents on after updating to mountain lion, I encountered the same problems as yourself. Shortly after, I noticed that when I visited iCloud.com, that the iWork feature was apparently unavailable because of ongoing works. When it became available again, everything seemed to work just fine and has done so ever since. Of note, there was no other notification of these ongoing works anywhere else other than iCloud.com.

  • IPhone not syncing to iTunes music, But iPad OK... Restore?

I updated to IOS7 on both my iPhone 4s and iPad 2. But when I go to sync music on my desktop through iTunes I get stuck in the final step of transferring for my iPhone but not the iPad. Is there anyway to go about fixing this without restoring my phone? I realize this is probably an issue with the software (bug) because of the update but was wondering if there is anyway to go around fixing this without wiping my phone clean.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you working with iTunes for Windows or Mac?
One thing to try is to change your iTunes setting to manually sync.
Then remove the music (if any)  from the device and choose just what you want to put back on the iPhone.
If that doesn't work, you may need to restore from the backup you hopefully did before updating.
