I synched my iphone to 2 laptops and have now lost all the music purchased by my wife in our itunes library, how do i get this back and restore it to both our iphones?

I have recently upgraded my iphone 4 software and thought I'd backed up all my stuff. When I restored the settings only 73 out of 895 songs were downloaded to my Itunes library. I then went on my other laptop with all the old stuff on and tried to synch them. This led to all the music in this itunes library being wiped except for the 73 on my phone.
HOW DO I GET MY MUSIC BACK!!!
I share my music with my wife and we both purchase using different id's but have not had problems before in downloading to our phones. She is now a little peeved with me and any help would be very gratefully received and make my life alot easier

Hello johnohuk,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like most of your music was purchased from the iTunes Store. If your country supports iTunes in the Cloud, you can download your past purchases using this article:

  • I have paid for itunes match and have now lost all my music of my iphone except what I paid for from itunes, 964 songs gone not at all happy.  Can anyone help

I have paid for itunes match and have now lost all my music off my iphone except what I paid for from itunes, 964 songs gone into the cloud. Can anyone help please?

Enabling iTunes Match does not delete music from your computer. Why do you think it is now not in the iTunes library if it was before? If all of your music was in the iTunes library then it is also now in the cloud if iTunes has completed it's scan and all the music meets the match requirements. Enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser by switching to Song view and pulling down View > View Options. Select iCloud Status then close the small window. Sort on the new column. Your music should be listed as "purchased," "matched" and "uploaded." Some tracks may be "ineligible." Post back and let us know.

  • HT1535 My ipod touch will not sync with itunes I have restored it to factory settings and have now lost all my music how do I get it to sync to get it back it keeps saying it has timed out whilst waiting to sync...

My ipod touch will not sync with itunes I have tried to restore it to the factory settings and have now lost what little music I had on it I have music in my itunes but it wont sync for some reason .. please help ..

Why won't it sync? Are you getting any sort of error message during the sync process?  If so what is the exact wording of that error message?  If this the computer you normally sync the iPod with?

  • TS4124 I have around 1000 songs manually downloaded from my CD's to iTunes in my iPhone before an operating system change on my computer deleted my iTunes and had to create a new one.  The music won't transfer to my new iTunes!  How do I get it back?

I can't figure out how to get my music back onto a new iTunes from my iPhone.  I had to replace my iTunes after an update to my operating system on my MacBook Pro was reversed (found Mountain Lion to be incompatible with many existing programs and couldn't use it).  I had alraedy manually loaded about a 1,000 songs from my CD's and now no matter what I've tried I can't get them back onto my new iTunes!  How can I fix this without re-loading all of these songs?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Can you try to use another computer?
If this does not work, visit an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place, and show them the phone, maybe they can restore it before you'll have to get it serviced.
Did you try to put it in recovery mode?

Reboot the computer then try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes.
    Next try DFU mode.

  • Updated my iPhone 4  to iOS 5 and have now lost all my contacts, messages, photo's etc? HELP!!

    Hi guys,
I have just updated my iphone 4 to iOS 5 and have lost everything!
I did a back up prior to the install and have the latest version of iTunes. I completed the install and went to retrieve the back up via a restore, I selected the latest restore, it thinks about it then comes up with the following error message:  "File is corrupt or not compatible with this phone"
I was also perviously using Mobile Me for instances like this, though my accont has recently expired and I can no longer access it, all my data was stored on there. Annoying!
Can anyone help? Be a huge help...

If you made a backup in iTunes before upgrading you can access the data with iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor.
Can be downloaded from here: http://supercrazyawesome.com/
This helped me getting my Notes back after the upgrade to iOS 5.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First things first...your data...everything else is IMHO secondary.
When you say you have synced your BB, how exactly have you done that in the past?
True synchronization with, for example, Outlook? If so, then please check Outlook (or whatever other PC Organizer app you are using) to be sure you still have all of your data...and, to be safe, copy all of your contacts and calendar to a safe PST just in case.
On the other hand, if by "synced", you mean backed up, then look on your PC for IPD files...those would be the files that store your data as of the date/time you took that backup...and they remain there, available for restore if needed.
So, please clarify your situation concerning your data before we proceed with any device diagnostics...the data is much more important than the device, and I want to be sure your data is safe before we attempt anything with the device.

Restore your media from the backup of the computer created prior to restoring the computer.
You did create a backup, correct?  Not doing so would be extremely unintelligent.
iOS devices are NOT backup devices.
