I think I would like to go back to Snow Leopard is that possable ??

I am have some problems with Lion and im thinking of going back to Snow Leopard for a while untill its sorted out is that posable ??

Sure....erase and reformat the HD then reinstall Snow Leopard and then restore from your backup. However Lion is pretty stable why not work out your problems before giving up after 2 days.

running lion would like to go back to snow leopard what do I need to do

Insert a Mac OS X 10.6 install DVD, restart with the C key held down, and install it onto a blank drive or partition. If desired, use the Disk Utility to erase the volume with Lion installed.
If you have a Time Machine backup or bootable clone of Snow Leopard, you can restore it instead of reinstalling the OS.

  • I just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac that was previously running Snow Leopard. Bugt I found that some key applications no longer work, so I would like to go back to snow Leopard. I can't use time machine backups for this. what can I do?

I just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. But In was dismayed to find that my Canon scanner software (Canoscan LIDE500F)no longer works. Nor do any of my MS offce applications. I tried to use time machine to reinstall Snow Leopard (my previous operating system), but unfortunately my time machine backups did not include system software. Also, the original system install disk that came with my iMac would not allow me to install Snow Leopard in place of Mountain Lion. I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to solve this problem.

The reason your Office doesn't work is because it is PowerPC code. If you will upgrade the 2004 Office to 2011 Office then that will work.
I don't understand how you managed to get your Time Machine backup to not backup the system.
Now if you still what to downgrade you will have to erase the disk and reinstall Snow Leopard. Most likely all of your application and then restore your data from Time Machine.
To me it sounds like it would be easier to upgrade your software and stay with Mountain Lion instead.

  • I would like to go back to Snow Leopard - problem is...

I gave Lion a several week chance and I am experiencing significant problems with the way the new mail works,  I've tried the "classic" route, gave the natural function a chance, but just spend too much time figuring out how Lion wants me to read and organize my mail.  I'm losing time at work and finding important emails buried in "threads" with unrelated originators names in the "from" heading rather than the email I need to read.  It's a shame really.  I use my mac for business, not for socializing and I cannot get my job done with Lion.
    Rant off...
Here is the bottom line question and I think I may already know the answer so give it to me straight.
I installed Lion on day 2 of the public release.  I set up all my missing apps and started a FRESH time machine backup from a wiped disk (thinking I would start without the cobwebs of several OSX upgrades).  Will a Snow Leopard downgrade be able to use any of the Lion TM files?  That is, have I essentially lost all the work I have done since installing Lion if I decide to go back?
    Go ahead, hit me.

See Kappy's going back to SL from Lion guide. BTW, do note that you might have to export Lion's Mail first to salvage it, since Lion's version isn't compatilble. Finally, now you know the value of retaining a bootable backup/clone of your previous installation while you experiment with a new version.

  • I'd like to go back to Snow Leopard from Lion. What should I look out for?

I downloaded OS X Lion from the Mac App Store back in February, and I'm getting sick of Lion so I'd like to go back to Snow Leopard. I have the install disc. Will all of my files be used in Snow Leopard, or will I have to save all of them?

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • How do i go from lion back to snow leopard

I have a HP Officejet 8500 printer/scanner/fax and since I've upgraded to Lion OS X 10.7.5 I can no longer scan from my computer like I did previously.  I don't know if it was a previous version of Lion or Snow Leopard.  If I can downgrade from 10.7.5 to see if that will scan, that is my first choice.  If not, I'd like to go back to Snow Leopard.  I am using USB instead of wireless.

Those models usually have custom drivers you need to install as it also includes software and the upgrade wiped it out.
Check the HP website and search for drivers for your model/OSX version and install it.
If you want to downgrade (upgrade ) to Snow Leopard anyway, this is how to go about it.

  • Unable to go back to snow leopard by holding c key

    Hi all
I am selling my MBP and I have lion os.  I called Apple Care to find out how to best clean everything off my mac and then I can give it to the buyer. Apple told me that I cannot give my mac with my current Lion OS on it. They said I would have to go back to snow leopard. Now I cannot find the instal disks for my MBP anymore. However I do have a retail copy of snow leopard. The snow leopard shows when on my desktop, when I insert the disk in.  However when rebooting and holding the C key it ends up showing the Apple logo then eventually it gives me a message, saying I need to restart my MBP again.  I don't know what else to do. All I am trying to do, is give this MBP a clean start, so therefore the new user can use it as if its out of the box for the first time.
    anyone help?

You don't bother to specify which MBP you have, but it's most likely that they one you have post-dates the retail SL disc you have, and therefore that disc is not usable on it.
    You need to either:
    1) Get the discs it came with.  If you don't have them, you can buy them from Apple for a nominal amount.
    2) Sell it without an OS.
You really need to do #1 anyway... what do you expect the person you're selling it to do if they have a problem, anyway, since they wouldn't have the disc?

  • How do I move back to Snow Leopard from Lion if Lion came on the computer?

I have a 27" iMac that came with Lion on it.  I want to go back to Snow Leopard so that some of the old software that I liked can be used again.  I do not use apps, do not have an iphone or ipad, would never put information in to a Cloud, so Lion aor Mountain Lion are not for me.  Is there a way to go back to Snow Leopard and still have the ability to upgrade should I change my mind?

Had to restore my computer and now have music on the iPad that I would like to transfer back to the computer. How do I do this? (Operating system is Windows Vista)

This depends, if the music was purchased on the iTunes store you can transfer purchases. If it was not then you would need a 3rd party program in order to rip these files to the computer.

Sorry, Swanarva, It didn't work as it was supposed to. I downloaded, saved file, clicked the download to open, clicked 'run' then got an error message that it couldn't find the file(!) . No idea what happened or why. Should I have uninstalled Firefox first, then downloaded Firefox 8 using another browser or downloaded, uninstalled Firefox 09 beta then tried installing Firefox 8?
At this rate, IE is looking good, despite its shortcomings.
