I think im picking up my neighbors router

hey guys i have a question, so its my birthday today and i got a 2.0 ghz macbook and i was surprised to see that i had a conection with my airport because i dont have a wireless router in my house. so its gotta be my neighbors right?..in my room the connection is strong with 3 bars..butonce i go downstairs i either lose it or only the little dot is lit up. Now i bought a router a while ago and never set it up. So my question is should bootleg my neighbors connection or install my router

By all means - install your Router. Here are some reasons and points:
* The legality of it all.
* Anyone that has a wireless network set up that allows untethered unsecure access is just asking for trouble and YOU don't want to be on that type of network.
* The primary IP of the address is listed to your neighbor which has (maybe) some advantages, but I can think of a major disadvantage: What if he/she is up to illicit behaviour and YOU are on that IP too! That would scare the heck out of me...
* There are Neighborhood Clubs springing up all over the country and in fact, it is big in the DFW area, where maybe every other house buys Internet Access of one form or another and then puts it on a Wireless Network that is secure. Neighbors that contribute to this pay a fair share of the cost each month, and they all share the Internet and keep costs low. Consider something like that if you want to save money.

  • Pick Pack Time and Route

    Hello Everyone,
I know that Pick and pack times are using the Shipping point working times or calendar.
Just to confirm, can I say that Pick / pack time cannot be derived from the Route?
    regards
    John

This is really depends on what value you set in the field Determine Pick/Pack time in the shipping point definition. If value A is selected then the pick/pack time becomes route dependant.
By definition the pick/pack time is the time in days that is required for allocating goods to a delivery as well as the time in days that is required for picking and packing. It is calculated using the shipping point, the route, and the weight group of the order item. (from help.sap.com at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/dd/5607e7545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/frameset.htm). So the route can impact the pick/pack time.

  • Wireless printer keeps linking up with neighbors router

My wireless printer keeps linking with my neighbors router when I turn it on, even though it's sitting right next to my router. If I ask my neighbor to turn his router off then my printer will link with my router. What's happening here and how can I fix it?

You can try to set the security on your router and input all the wireless settings on your printer manually. So it will not keep on linking with your neighbors wireless network.

  • Where to maintain Picking Time while defining Route

    Hi Friends,
We are defining new routes which would need following time to be defined for the route:
    1) Trnasit Time
    2) Transportation Lead Time
    3) Picking Time
Both Transit time and Transportation Lead Time are present while defining routes however we could not find Picking time.
Kindly help me in finding where in SAP can i maintain Picking time.
    Thanks,
    Anshul

    Hi,
But If you want the picking time to be determined there is an option based on the route
A route-dependent pick/pack time is determined. The influencing factors are: in the order the shipping point, the route and the weight group
in the delivery the shipping point, the route and the weight group for the delivery.
To see the Weight groups the Transaction is "OVS8"
AND THE ASSOCIATED  DETAILS OF THE WEIGHT GROUPS  "OVST"
After this check the route determination with weight group in "0VRF"*(Zero not "O") . Based on this system determines the Picking time automatically. Kindly please let me know If you need any more help on this.

  • WRT54G2 thinks it's not a wireless router!

    Hey all
I have a WRT54G2 router that is brand new. I have had it for about  a month and it was working fine till just recently it lost it's connection to the internet. I  have DSL so i connect via PPOE connection. Before both my laptop and ipod touch could connect to the internet but now it is saying that I do not have wireless capabilities. My SSID is still on my preferred networks list and everytime I try to connect it won't let me through to the internet connection. I have been fiddling with this for a few days and am getting frustrated.
I have a desktop and my xbox WIRED and they are working and connecting to  th einternet just fine. Any ideas?

As your wired computer is working fine, just try to readjust the wireless settings on the router... like change the SSID, change channel to 11-2.462 GHZ...also change the security key and then try to connect your network on the laptop...i hope it will work for you.

  • Do you think its time to change my router WRT54G v.4 ?

Im using wireless connection most of time as I have two computers, mac and pc. I have been using this method, resetting the router in order to use the internet. Im really tired of doing it every time i switched it on. Any suggestions? I tried most of the through the guide me by still it doesnt work.

Since you router is quit an old router, have you tried to upgrade the firmware of your Router?
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • My wireless keeps grabbing my neighbors router

Can I make it so my iMac it will ONLY use my router?

From my experience, it should be remove all the preferred networks except your own and then make sure "Ask to join new networks" is not checked. Also in Advanced, make sure "Remember networks this computer has joined" is not checked.

  • Why is my Mac Book pro not picking up my wireless router?

My Mac Book Pro is not connecting to y wireless modem. It keeps saying it is timed ot. Also the sound is not playing well. Sounds distotes at times and low in volume. Mac Book 2009. 15in

Software Update only works for incremental updates.. not necessarily upgrades.  MacOS Version 10.x.y where  x = major upgrade and y = incrementenal update
MacOS v10.5.8 is Leopard and v10.6.7 is Snow Leopard. You first must buy Snow Leopard v10.6 for $29 single use or $79 Family use upgrade price, and then run Software Update to get to the current update revision level which is 10.6.7.

  • Home wireless connection

    Hi,
    Product name: HP Touchsmart
    Product number : WC949AA-ABU
    Model number: 300-1125uk
    Operating on Windows 7
I just got wireless broadband in my flat. It works fine - my Ipad and
my housemate's laptop can pick up the signal very strongly - but my HP
TouchSmart PC cannot pick it up.
I installed the broadband using the HP, with the help of the setup CD
the broadband provider sent me. I can pick up other broadband signals
on the HP - my neighbours' signals, for example - so it's just my own
that I can't pick up! It isn't behind any thick walls or anything.
Also, I hooked up the computer to the router using a cable
and it worked fine, so there's obviously just something wrong with the wireless aerial in the HP PC.
Any suggestions of what to try?
    Thanks!

    Hi robertcoppin:
Well you answered your own question but gave your self the wrong answer. If it was your computers signal then you would not be picking up your neighbors router box signal would you? So your computer is fine o.k. What I would do is go to your nieghbors house and ask them if they would be kind enough to help you set up your wirless connection with you. I know I had to set mine to sid number there are other options were listed in Control pannel , managing wireless net works. You probably have it on the wroung settings. You can call your internet provider to help you connect your computer to their router.  In order to for me to connect to our router we had to call our Internet provider so they could verify our computers as they were being connected. Check with your housemate he will be able to connect you no problem just match his settings off his lap top to your Touchsmart.

  • Help!!!!! 2 routers and many problems.

I have a befsr41 hardwired router and a wrt54g wireless router that i am trying to use at same time in conjunction. My laptop is wireless and desktop is wired.Could not get the wrt54g to work stand alone so i put them inline. The modem hooks to the befsr41 and then that is cabled into a lan port on thr wrt54g.The desktop is also hooked to befsr41.i ran lela software so often i am sick. The desktop connects to the internet but will not get to 192.168.1.1 I turned off dhcp like someone here told me to and now i can not get in to correct it?Also my laptop sometimes connects to the internet but i think i am getting my neighbors router ?I have the routers stacked on top og each other on top of my desktop?Someone help a simple man such as myself please. The desk top runs xp and the laptop has vista?I think that is about all the info i can give? Thanks,Rick

The default ip address for both is 192.168.1.1. You'll need to change the address of one of them so you can make them work together.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • HT204409 I have a new iphone 5 and it won't connect to a wireless router that my old iphone 3GS would pick up. Is there a compatibility issue with some routers or is the antenna weaker in the new iphone 5?

Re: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?
created by mpa9366 in Using iPad - View the full discussion
Having done a lot of reading today and having found a very good online tablet magazine (will post link tomorrow) there seems to be a few tech bods onto the problem.
The magazine I was reading identified wifi problems within hours of the ios 6 release and have been analysing since then with almost daily updates - the story seems to be:
The apple authenthication transmission is normal, it should slip through event prior to a full handshake with the host network being completed - however if not authenthicated then apple will not permit the device to connect (kills the connection) this is designed to protect apple from counterfeiting. So thats problem 1 if you dont receive a token from apple.
Problem 2 is that ios 6 only supports ipv6 (the new ip protocol) whereas outside silicon valley a large proportion of routers modems etc are still ipv4 protocol.
So youre locked into ipv6 in a world where ipv4 devices are everywhere and apple have not allowed for the ability to handle both protocols. This is like GM telling you your car requires an upgrade, everything will improve etc and as part of the upgrade fits a fuel cell motor and stays silent when their upgraded vehicles are simply parked up because they cannot get fuel.
A very basic expectation would have been dual protocol handling - we know the HW supports ipv4 as all wad fine on ios5.
So its going to be hit and miss with networks - more hit than miss in techy areas like silicon valley, but more miss in places like where I am - a small town in rural Switzerland.
Only apple can fix this with a patch to enable ipv4 protocol handling.
There you go. you just need to buy a new router, I'm sure Apple has one for sale, cause it's not there fault for sure.
Wonder why people start to migrate to other devices ?

  • TS1398 I just reset my new router name and password and my iPad keeps picking up the old name using the old password. How do I purge the old info and get it to look for the new name?

I installed a new wireless router and connected with my iPad. I then changed the ID and password with ethernet but now my iPad keeps picking up the old router name and password and doesn't see the new name. How can I get it to stop looking for the old name and find the new one?

    Hello Stevo39,
If your iPhone continues to prompt for your old account and password then check out the following article.

  • Pick/pack time and loading time in route

    HI People,
If  I make entry in the shipping point that loading time and pick/pack time as route dependent then where do I enter these times in route as I didn't find any feild to enter these in routes.

You can control scheduling by sales doc type & shipping point. Logical path - Logistic Execution-shipping-basic shipping function -scheduling-delivery scheduling & Transportation sch.
Trasportation planning will determine below mentioned fields.
    Check-in
    Loading start
    Loading end
    Shpmt completion
    Shipment start
    Shipment end.
Picking, packing will be controlled by delivery scheduling
give me ur email id will forward u the document for it

  • Avoiding picking up neighbor's wireless internet connection

How do I lock out or exclude neighboring internet connections when using WiFi in my home. My Macbook constantly picks up my neighbors unsecured connection. I discovered this when my network printer would not print and, after investigation, I discovered that I was logged onto my neighbor's network, rather than mine.

As another poster suggests, you need to look in the "Advanced" section of the Network Preference pane. When you open the Network pane, you will see a list of your Network Port Configurations. Select Airport, then click the "Advanced..." button at the bottom-right.
The dialogue sheet that appears should start out with the "Airport" tab selected. Here, there is a list of every network you have joined. Simply select a network, then click the "-" sign below the list to remove it (you must first have opened the padlock in the main network pane, if it was locked).
You can also drag wireless networks into a desired order, but this probably will not stop your Macbook from sometimes connecting to the other network. It would be best to remove it entirely.

  • Router for cable AND DSL at the same time?

Can I get cable and DSL service and buy a router that will run both at the same time? I'm looking at the Linksys RV016, RV042 and RV082 routers; and the D-Link DI-LB604 Load Balancing Router. It looks like they'll do this but the webpages don't say that clearly. My Comcast cable service is fast (up to 6Mbps downloads) when it's working and the neighbors are asleep, but the speed drops to around 2kbps at other times. Qwest DSL is guaranteed 256Kbps.
Also, is there a wi-fi transceiver that detects and uses unused bandwidth on neighbors' Internet connections? My house picks up 7 neighbors' wi-fi transceivers. If we're all on the same cable service it wouldn't matter if I transferred bandwidth to a neighbor's service. But if some houses have DSL and some have cable, then the DSL users could get extra speed in the mornings when the cable is fast. The cable users would get extra speed in the evening when cable is slower than DSL. Everybody wins.
    G5 dual 1.8GHz; 12 PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    no problems.
There is a priority order when multiple networking interfaces are available.
Ethernet is higher than Airport in the order.
If both ethernet and Airport interfaces are connected to the network, then ethernet becomes the primary networking interface.
If nothing is plugged into the ethernet port, then Airport will get control.
