I think my hard disk is spoiled but I'm not sure?

I have a Macbook Pro bought in 2012. I am a heavy Mac user because I am in college and I both study and entertain myself using my Macbook.
So 2 months ago my battery spoiled. I took it to a Mac store and they said I reached my cycle and I have to pay about $200-300 to have it replaced.
I didn't have cash at that time so I have been using it as a desktop ever since.
Two days ago I was using the mac to do my homework on the web and I was on google chrome. I was also chatting to someone on Facebook and suddenly I couldn't connect to the Internet.
I was mad and was cursing my service provider and I thought I'll shut down and restart it and maybe it'll work. (I was chatting with someone, see and was eager to continue my conversation)
I shut down but it never restarted. It had this progress bar with white screen, similar to this http://www.cnet.com/au/news/progress-bar-appears-on-grey-screen-at-bootup/.
I took it to the Apple store the next day and they ran a Hardware test but apart from battery problems, they found nothing wrong, so they asked me to take it back to reinstall my OSX.
I did that, took me the whole day because I had to reformat my hard disk as well. (I am not good in tech). Basically, I erased everything and re-partition the Mac. and It worked! I was so happy but that lasted for a day.
Today morning when I wanted to start up it went back to the white progress bar again. http://www.cnet.com/au/news/progress-bar-appears-on-grey-screen-at-bootup/
I was so mad and wanted to give up but then I realized that I had an external hard disk. I started up with my external hard disk and installed the OSX from the hard disk.
I am now typing this while my computer is booted from my hard disk. Otherwise, without my hard disk connected, it will go into the white progress bar thingy again.
What is wrong with my Mac, and should I buy a new computer?
(or a new hard disk until the new macbook model is released)
Thanks! And sorry for the long post. I'll post bullet points if any of you starts complaining.

What I an trying to establish is how you tried to repair the startup disk (the internal HDD) in your MBP.  You said that you have an external HDD with an OSX installed.
When you boot the MBP with the external disk and open Disk Utility, the Disk Utility display should look similar to this:
(This is from my 2010 MBP)
The YELLOW icons are the external boot drive (which in this case is Mavericks).
The GRAY icons are the INTERNAL HDD ( I have several partitions installed).
When you booted the MBP with the external HDD and when you opened Disk Utility, did you get a display similar to the one above?
[It should have displayed both the boot HDD (yellow) and the internal HDD (gray).]
Did you try to repair the internal HDD by selecting the gray icons after you had booted the MBP using the external HDD?
If you did, what were the results?
Ciao.
