I think my ibook had a stroke, the left side is broken?
I have recently had my logic board replace, twice actually the first was faulty. anyway, i just got my baby back and none of the plug ins on the side work, ie usb's ethernet etc? am i missing something? is there a way to fix it without parting with my mac...again?

Run the Apple hardware test on the Apple install disk one. Insert the cd in the drive and restart. When the screen goes blank hold down the option key and select the Apple Hardware test on the screen. Run the extended tes tand see what that brings up. Also you can check your system profiler in "About this Mac" in teh Apple menu and click on more info. Check to see if the profiler can "see" you inputs.

Something's wrong with my headphone jack, it only plays the left side!!
I know it's not my headphones, cause I've tried 4 different ones, one of them new, and it''s always the left side that's the only working side. If I wiggle the headphones in the jack, the right side will cut in and out. This just happened today, I have no idea why. I didn't drop it, or get it wet or anything, I have no idea what couldv'e caused it. I've had the iPod since the beginning of this year, I don't think I registered it or got a warrenty or anything, I'm not sure how'd I'd check though. Can Apple fix this or can I fix it myself or what would you guys suggest? Thanks.
That happened with me also when I bought my skull candy headphones(iPods headphones hurt my ears). My headphones also worked for a while and then went to a point where I could only hear out of one side. I finally reverted back to the iPods headphones. I just stuck with the original headphones. Maybe I'll buy some of their more comfortable ones.
Also try not winding your headphone cord around the iPod too tightly. I looked somewhere else and someone said that that could be the problem. If you do wrap the excess cord around the iPod, try wrapping them around not as tight. I tried that and I got some extra life out of my old headphones. I would probably still be wearing them if I hadn't stepped on the jack and bent them.

Why are hp trackpads on the left side of the computer?
i have a dv5000 (made in 2006). the trackpad is centered, equal distance from the left and right sides of the computer. all older models i have found had their trackpads centered.
i was thinking of a new laptop. but on your website, all the models i'm interested in have the trackpad on the left side. i don't mean slightly to the left - one edge of the trackpad lines up precisely with the center, and 100% of the trackpad is to the left of that edge. at bestbuy, it was very awkward for me to reach and use the new hp trackpads, because i am right handed (fun fact: the majority of humans are right handed). to be specific: i type with my right fingers on the right side of the keyboard, so if i want to push the "enter" or "delete" button, i use my right hand, never my left hand; if i plug in a mouse, i place that mouse on the right side of the computer, never on the left side.
so a few questions -
1. are you primarily marketing your laptops toward left-handers?
2. with the new laptops, how long will my right wrist last before i develop carpal tunnel?
3. seriously, can i special order a laptop with the trackpad on the right side?I think the complaint is valid. My husband is looking for a new laptop and in the 17" displays, the annoying numeric keypad addition has caused you guys to move the track pad off center. Please tell me that HP intends to make 17" laptops without the numeric keypad - please! The off centered placement makes the screen out of symmetry and is distracting. It also makes it awkward if you are typing with the laptop on your lap instead of on a table.

Moving a field to the left side in a region closer to a radio button...
I'm frustrated not being able to place a field on a form closer to a radio group. I have a radio group of 3 options in which I would like to place a field to the right side of the radio button so that the user can type in an ID and then search a table by way of a search button on the screen. I can't place the field any closer to the radio button on the left side of the page...as it appears to the right side.
A drag and drop format would be nice.....
Is there a way to place the field in the exact location of where I want it?
2nd problem is that depending on which radio button the user selects, can I change cursor focus to a particular field on the screen?It's been said (although originally by whom is unclear) that +talking about music is like dancing about architecture+. Speaking for myself at least, I think your post proves there's something similar to be said regarding writing about UI and layout problems—+I have absolutely no idea what you mean+. Please do us all a favour and create an example showing this problem on apex.oracle.com, and/or post some screenshots showing the current and required layouts somewhere like tinypic.com

There's a black and white striped glitch on the left side of my screen on my Macbook Air! Its happened before and has been an easy fix, usually just restart or turn off my computer but don't know what else to do. Is there anything I can try now? I wont be able to make it to the Apple store until tomorow and would prefer if there was something I could do that didnt cost money, my computers very new and I really need help.

This spring we changed from IE to Mozilla after upgrading to Win 7. Everything has been fine with Firefox until yesterday when it crashed when I attempted to open an email. Since then the bookmarks (or favorites as my husband calls them) have not been in their usual place which was along the left side of the page. They are located in the Bookmarks bar at the top of the page but husband prefers the old IE way which we had until yesterday PM. Is there any way that we can get them back to the left side of the page other than going back to IE? Now that I have gotten used to Firefox I like it just fine.
*You can open the Bookmarks in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks (Ctrl+B)

I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. I don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key. Due to a brain injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She also uses a text to speech app to verbalize all of her needs since her speech isn't intelligible any longer either. And her vision was significantly affected also, so the keyboard has to be mounted about 6 inches from her face. So to reach across the keyboard with her left hand to the right side delete and enter button is physically difficult and causes typing errors, which cause people to not understand what shes trying to say.
The best keyboard so far is the Zagg folio mini. I just had to make stickers to enlarge the letters on the key buttons.
Does anyone know how I can reprogram these two keys? Or where I can buy a wireless mini keyboard for Ipad made for lefthanders with these two functions on the left side. I have searched for days and days. It's sooooo important to me that she be able to contribute her voice again. Imagine if you got in a car accident and couldn't speak clearly any longer, but understood everything still. Thanks for any help and suggestions you all take the time to share with me. I really appreciate the kindness of strangers to help me help my daughter.

When I plug my iPhone into PC to sync, I am getting a screen with music squares with notes in the icon. I was getting the iTunes home sync screen with the categories on the left side. And it had options along the top as sync items. It will sync, but I have no idea where the iTunes screen went.
I also will get an error message that says "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected". But, it does back up and it is connected. Any ideas out there as to what is going on and how I could fix this? Thanks.The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version. You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes. Or you can adapt to the new look.

The top button on my phone recently stopped working. Well sometimes. Majority of the time if I click it hard enough on the left side of the button it will lock the screen... Otherwise it doesnt work at all anymore. Also the camera appears to be placing a blue pixel on pictures I take. Its annoying. What should I do?
It's completely situational. Without being able to directly compare the "scratch" on the original poster's iPhone with your iPhone, what gaamcc had happen could not be extrapolated to guess what Apple may do in your situation. It will depend entirely on what the Apple technician diagnoses after examining your iPhone. He/she may decide that any damage is strictly cosmetic and didn't have any connection with the problem you're taking your iPhone in for, or he/she may diagnose the problem as stemming from user damage. You'll just have to see when you go to the Apple Store.

HP Laserjet 4P has a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of page.(front and back)
Hello all,
This is my first post here and I hope someone can help me.
We have a HP Laserjet 4P that we have used for a few years and recently have had a problem of a 1" toner stain that runs down the left side of the printed page(both front and back side). I have replaced the cartride and cleaned everything I know to clean. When I remove the cartridge, there is a little pile of toner on the left side just in front of the horizontal silver bar that is behind the roller. I have cleaned it up several times. Each time I try to print, The toner stain appears on the printed page again and leaves a new pile of toner in the same place.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I am not sure if it is a worn part or a maintenance issue.

I don't know what I can add. The bookmarks list is on the left side of the screen and crowds everything else to the right so that I can't read it. I've tried everything I can think of to move it or get rid of it.

Both [i]almost work, but the scrolling is not smooth (blinks back & forth). It seemed like a double buffering problem, but when I added code to paint first to an image and then to screen the issue remained.
I also tried adding labels to the JLayeredPane popup layer, but I this solution is problematic also, as labels start drawing all over the place. Plus, I'd rather not have to keep track of the labels and be repositioning them in the first place.
Any advice on this is sincerely appreciated.

dbThat's a very helpful suggestion, and I think would solve the problem as stated, however in reading your answer I see now that I didn't state my problem well, and that what I am trying to do is much more complex than I originally thought it was.

I previous versions you could have all of your bookmarks displayed down the left side of the page (I cannot recall the technical term for this). With this version when I open bookmarks I get something called the library which looks like what I want but it's in it's own window which is not the way that it was in previous versions. How do I set up Firefox so that my page had my bookmarks always displayed. I do not like the toolbar option.
You can make the Bookmarks visible in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks or the Ctrl+B keyboard shortcut.
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden. -
My family has a late 2010 27" Imac. A few months ago, we noticed that the left side of the screen was somewhat darker than the right. As time went on, it continued to get worse and worse. When you turn the computer off for an hour or so, it helps the display out somewhat, but it eventually goes back to being darker on the left. About two months ago, the display started to go completely black. When the screen is black, everything still runs. My itunes library will still play, everything is functioning even though the screen is out. It has started to become more frequent. It is extremely annoying, almost unbearable. Since the one year warranty went out in November, what are we supposed to do about this?
Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. It's a known issue with 27" iMacs and you might be eligible for replacement. I had mine replaced shortly after buying it. BTW, AppleCare's extended warranty is the cheapest insurance policy one can have for desktop machines. Too bad you missed the deadline.

Why are my pictures from my Powershot SX130IS blurry on the left side only?
I have had my Powershot SX130Is for less than a year. Initially it took lovely pictures. Now all of the pictures are blurry on the left of each image. I use the easy or auto setting. I am very dissappointed with the picture quality. Any suggestions?

I agree that making sure the lens is clean may be all that is needed here. You can clean the lens by gently wiping it down with a soft, lint free cleaning cloth, similar to what you would typically use to clean eyeglasses.
