I think my indesign file is damaged - i just need someone to open it and re-save it as a PDF - A NEW

Im applying for a new job and I was very close to completing one of the design test with cs6 - all of a sudden i wake up and I cant open the the pdf file i saved.. its sayin "file error"..I was using the 30 day trial and now its expired and now i cant open the file. If ANYONE has this verison and can help me out by opening the file and saving it to a PDF - i will be ever so greatful. I could paypal you some cash or give you a painting (http://artandlyfe.com) - I just really want and need this new design gig and this last project will make or break it. Were you using Acrobat to try to read the pdf file? Maybe that pdf file was actually OK but merely in a pdf version too recent for the version of Acrobat you used. For example Acrobat Pro v5 reports "The file is damaged and could not be repaired "when I try to open v1.5 pdf's that give no issues with higher versions of Acrobat, or various other 3rd party apps.

HT1657 I downloaded (and paid for), a movie and when I attempted to open it, the computer told me to trash it because the file was damaged. This support site is absolutely unhelpful and I feel as if I'm running through a maze... ridiculous.

I paid for a rental and couldn't find the download. When I did locate the file and tried to open it, a message appeared telling me to trash it because the file was damaged. Can't believe this. It's getting late, wanted to relax with a movie and have spent the last 20 minutes trying to troubleshoot.

I have just checked your account and found that you indeed have bought a Creative Cloud for Teams subscription but you have assigned the single seat to another user hence you ( If you are using your own Adobe ID ) are getting the trial error message.
Two options : Either reassign the seat to your self or add an additional seat and invite your self in the same Team.

The PNA driver does not have the vi to full support what you want. The SCPI commands to do what you want are:
MMEMTOR:TRAC:FORMNP MA; - to format the data in Mag dB Phase linear.
CALC1ATA&colon;SNPORTsave '1,2' , 'local file name on PNA file system.s2p' - to create PNA local files of s2p data
MMEMory:TRANsfer? 'controllerfilename.s2p' - to transfer the datafile from PNA to test controller using GPIB block transfer.
You will have to create these SCPI commads and VI's for yourself as the driver does not have them built in.

In a word "Yes". You need to download and install the free iDisk app from the iTunes Application Store. After that, it is pretty intuitive how to do it. You can also share the document via iWork.com.

How can i get a damaged IMac just delivered replaced for free? How long will it take to get the new one?

I just unwrapped my new iMac just being delivered by UPS and after removing all the wrapping I noticed deep scratches on the aluminium front and a big dent on the metal frame surrounding the screen. Obvioulsy it fell in the Apple assembly process or a heavy thing fell on it. I am so crossed as it took already 7 days to arrive and I now need to spend time trying to get it replaced one way or another, I believe this will take weeks before I get a replacement iMac and I am not sure in which state this new one will arrive. Very frustrating experience. I am hesitating to cancel the whole thing.

IF you bought it from apple, you can bring it back to apple for a full refund or exchange. You can also call apple support to request for a mail-in box so you can return the item. if on the other hand it is an apple authorize reseller, kindly contact them for exchange/refund. They will give you an option on whether they will give you a label to help you send back the item to them or take it to the store.

A indesign file keep crashing while open

I am using indesign cs6 at windows 8.1.
One of my indesign file keep crashing while open.
It would show "failed to recoverey the file" do you want to recovery again?
The windows would show adobe Indesign CS6 has stopped working either i click yes or no or cancel.
But i can't find any crash report.
I've tried empty caches, remove SING and reset peference. I still on work out the same.
The document actually load a little bit. I can see the document name, paragraph styles and character styles clearly then crash.
It happed after I put an TOC.
What can I do with it?
I don't have any other backup for the file.
And I can open some other indesign file without any problem.

You need to empty the InDesign Recovery folder in your user profile (it's hidden). See Replace Your Preferences for the path to the InDesign SavedData file and you should find it in the same folder.
After doing that, ID should start without crashing while attempting to recover the damaed recovery data. You should then be able to open the last saved version of the file unless it also is damaged.

OK so I’m late contributing to this thread, but this issue has recently started on one of our SMB shares and has been plaguing me for 6 weeks. I spent some time trying to find a fix and found any number of users who have had this issue, I tried a lot of 'fixes' which I'd cut and past into a text file from various user groups and cannot remember where I picked this one up so apologies to the orginal poster.
I’ve also posted this fix in a number of forums so hopefully others searching for a fix can find it.
You may need to download and install Codekit, I already have it installed and forget sometimes that some of these ‘hacks’ only work with it installed.
Launch terminal and use this command /usr/bin/SetFile -a a followed by the path name to the damaged file.
Something like
/usr/bin/SetFile -a a /Volumes/YourServer/ShareName/FileName.alias
The easiest way to get the correct path name is to launch Terminal and drag the damaged file to the command line, Terminal will create the correct path, now all you need do is paste the command in to the Terminal command line before the path and hit return.
I don't expect you will have this issue with InDesign files stored on your local HD, it only seems to occur with files stored in a share on a Windows server accessed via SMB.

Can you save a CS 6 Indesign file to an earlier version? CS 5.5?

Can you save as CS 5.5? I know about IDML and I can't risk "perfection". The file is so small, I'm sure there are problems. But I hears from Adobe that CS 6 can save to 5.5, I just need to confirm that.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Sharing an inDesign file for multiple people to edit using Dropbox?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how exactly using Dropbox can help our group share an inDesign file. It's just one file (one magazine every couple of months), with lots of images + text. Some of us use Macs, others PCs. We all have different (recent) versions of inDesign. We split up the work load, so ___ does 5 pages, ____ does 5 pages, etc. I read on here that sharing a Dropbox folder could work but I'm having a hard time seeing it in my mind...
We would need a shared folder. In this folder would be the inDesign file itself, with another folder holding all of the images. This way you don't have missing links. So if someone added images/text to 5 pages, then saved it as another file, uploaded that file... Could another person take that files pages and add them to a "master file". Would this work? Thanks so much

I'd strongly recommend subdividing. If people are working on separate pages, divide the document into pages. If they are working on portions, then create documents with single articles or portions. Make it a single person's responsibility to assemble the parts. The pain of losing edits because two people try to work at the same time (AND THEY WILL) is far worse than the pain of subdividing, and it will happen of course when you are under pressure.

I am trying to download the free trial of Acrobat Pro and am getting an error message stating that the installer file is damaged. I have tried on 2 PCs and get the same error. Is this able to be corrected so that I can trial the program?

Without knowing anything about your system or your Internet connection we can't really tell you much. This error is on your end - the connection drops out or the files get damaged when saved to disk. Try another browser and check your Internet.

When packaging an InDesign file get missing plug-in error msg?

When going to package an InDesign file, we get a message about missing a plug-in, and the only option is to hit "OK" which stops the packaging process. The info on the (missing???) plug-in says: SMD Channels Model.SDK.inDesign plug-in.
We are using CS5, with all the latest updates installed. Thanks for any assistance.

Can I lock InDesign files?

Can I lock InDesign files in CC if multiple users are wishing to access and edit the same files, to prevent conflicts?
It looks in CS5/6 as if this was done via Managed Files but not clear if it can be done on CC.
Any help appreciated.

Our team don't use InCopy.... the fact "Assignments" are never mentioned wrt InDesign in isolation led me to believe they weren't what we were looking for? (Can only be accessed in the context of working with InCopy?)

Spotlight and InDesign files under 10.9

in Mountain Lion, InDesign files (.indd) used to be sorted in the documents category and appeared on top of results ; in order to do it, I had moved the documents category on top of spotlight search result.
Since Mavericks, the .indd files show up in a "Other" category for which sorting is not available.
Would it be possible to resolve this ?

This setting is part of the print dialog and must be supported of the used print driver.
Scale to fit page will reduce scale if the PDF will not fit between the printer borders.
You can set the default behaviors in the PDF's document properties, where you can find some settings for printing, if the document is opened in Acrobat or Reader and if the printer driver support this property. If the PDF is opened in another viewer these settings are ignored.
