I think my phone is stolen

hello, i bough a blackberry 8520 , from a guy, he didnt said from where he got it ... but i think it is stolen, i cant use the aplications (blackberry app world) ... i am from romania , with orange carrier ... i have the blackberry option activated (on orange) but i still cant use my aplications such as yahoo messenger and facebook.
what can i do now ? i dont want to be acused for thief ...

Why do you think it is stolen?
If you do, you need to return it to the seller and get your money back.
Or, report the suspected theft to the local police.
Not being able to use Facebook or whatever may be no indicator of a stolen device, but just one which is not connected to your network properly. Please look at your Manage Connections screen > Services Status.

It would be a voilation of privete laws of many countries
Every attempt to fight "evil" have a backside likely the reason they have not don so yet
In the country i live in if stolen i repport the imei number of the phone to the police and the have all carriers and carriers they work with in other countries block the phone from ever being used as a phone

  • HT1349 What is a captive session and a crash reporter? I think my phone may have been compromised and information stolen, is there anyway from the diagnostics log to find out?

What is a captive session and a crash reporter? I think my phone"s security may have been compromised.

ok thank you. I was talking to a IT security forensics person and they told me that there is a devise that plugs into your charging area and looks like a flashdrive that can bypass your password and download all of your data even deleted text messages from the hard drive in your phone.
he had the ability to have access to my phone all night.
is there a way he couldve jail broke my phone to hack into it and then un jail break it.
I was also told that if he used a mac computer he couldve done this through itunes and there is a way to find the trace of my data being extracted on my iphone and will also give mac address that they pulled the data onto.

  • E-Mail Notification to Primary When Phone is Stolen 01-05-11

I have had a Family Plan with Verizon for 7 years. This includes 2 children (now 22 and 21). Recently my daughter's phone was stolen. She went into her local State College Verizon store the very next day and reported that her phone had been stolen as she shopped for a replacement. I was not in the position to immediately replace the phone; consequently she was without a phone for a month. During that time the person who had stolen her phone uploaded numerous games and ring tones that resulted in a November telephone bill that doubled my usual bill. When I called to request that these charges be removed, I was told that the phone was NOT reported stolen within the required 48 hours thus I would be responsible for all charges. Had my daughter been experienced enough to request written confirmation that a hold had been placed on her number, I would not have this huge bill right at a time when tuition is due for 2 children, their rent is due and I have Christmas expenses to recover from. Additionally, it would be so very nice if Verizon had a mechanism for considering extenuating circumstances, particularly among parents with young people that are often not as responsible as they might be. I know that Verizon use to be more customer conscious...I guess this is a new day at Verizon...which makes me sad.

As I have posted in another post the reps are pressured to sell Sell SELL, and CS is not a high priority for them
If a phone is stolen, you find a phone and call into CS or log onto your account online and you can personally suspend the line. A little late to know now, but something to keep in mind.
But gong back to your call, it is your daughters word against Verizon. if there is no record, they are not going to give you a break as the Customer Service Rep on the phone has no idea if you are telling the truth or not.
As for what you said here,"Additionally, it would be so very nice if Verizon had a mechanism for considering extenuating circumstances, particularly among parents with young people that are often not as responsible as they might be."  It is not Verizon's job to protect your adult daughter from not doing all she should have. I know you feel she went to the store, but maybe she didn't. Just like she did not get  something in writing, which I believe would had been generated. When i go there, it seems they have me sign the screen for anything and genrate a printoff.
UPDATE, After thinking about the situation, there may be one saving grace in that at corporate stores you need to log in at the kiosks at the door with your first name, phone number, and reason you are there in order to be helped. That info would be recorded.

  • I need help contacting someone that can help me find who the previous owner was who set up my iphone 5s, there is an activation lock and i need to contact the owners. help??? i think the iphone was stolen and then sold to me

i think my iphone was stolen before being sold to me, i need help finding out who the original owner was to unlock the phone. any ideas on numbers i could ring? im super gutted

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

How do I turn off the "make a sound" feature with Find My Mac.  I think my macbook was stolen and I don't want it to make a sound when it connects.  Can turn the feature off somehow?

I've read some forums that say I have to overwrite it with a silent sound file but I do not understand how to do this.
You have to jailbreak your phone to do this, voiding all warranty & support. Just flip the Ring/Silent switch when you send.

  • Did you know that if your phone is stolen, Find my Phone is useless?

Lessons from my lost iPhone. Despite having a pin to unlock the iPhone, you can simply power off the phone with a long press of the power button. Which means that if your phone is stolen and the thief is smart enough to turn it off (is there one who isn't?), 'Find my phone' is virtually useless!
Also, you can use Siri on a locked phone to make phone calls and send messages. There are also enough tips available on the internet that show you how to use Siri to unlock the phone, making all your photos, emails and other information available to anyone keen enough to find it.
I've written to Apple to tell them that a phone lock should really do what it says - LOCK the phone! If you own an iPhone and would like the same please write to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Perhaps when enough people write they'll actually take some notice!

This subject is discussed fairly frequently. Find my iPhone is not useful unless a particularly ignorant thief takes it. It's primary use is to find lost phones, not stolen. Requiring a passcode to turn it off eliminates one way a thief can disable Find my iPhone, but it isn't the only one, and probably isn't the one used by most professional thieves. Among other ways to disable Find my iPhone:
    Remove the SIM
    Wrap in aluminum foil
Drop in a shoplifter's bag or backpack with its Faraday shield (copper mesh or foil lining)
Restore the phone from DFU mode
The Activation Lock feature, which prevents a stolen phone from ever being used again, except by the rightful owner, is the more valuable deterrent against theft. Once word gets around that a stolen iPhone is useless the market value of stolen phones will drop precipitously, and thieves will switch to stealing Android phones.

  • Today my phone was stolen, so i called my service provider and had my account suspended. then i found it at a pawn shop, so i reactivated it. however, my phone says that it has no SIM and I am unable to send/recieve any messages. how can i fix it?

Today while I was at work my phone was stolen. After unsuccessfully trying to track down the kids who had it, I called my service provider and asked them to suspend my account. A short time later, I found my phone at a local pawn shop and called to reactivate my phone's service. The woman on the phone said that it should only take a few minutes to reactivate. However, a coworker also told me that whenever a theft gets reported to the service provider, apple puts your phone's serial number on a list that disables yours phone's re-enactment until the service provider confirms that the phone has been found. I'm not sure if this is true, but my phone should have been working a few hours ago, and it still says that there is no SIM everytime I try to send a message. Should I just wait it out or is it more likely to be at the fault of my service provider?
    Thanks!

The SIM question/issue is separate from all of the others.  Your iPhone will not access the cellular newtwork until you install a new SIM.  The current SIM has been deactivated and is now useless.  Get a new SIM, install it (or have it installed), then have your carrier grant the iPhone access to the cellualr network.

  • How to stop an iphone from "thinking" a phone no. is another iphone?

I had an iphone 4 but then switched to a different device (ported my number out) and now I can no longer receive texts from my friend with an iphone 5 who used to send me messages using iMessage because the iphone 5 continues to "think" my phone number is associated with an iphone 4. Both Verizon and Apple are working on figuring out (spent a couple of hours) how to correct this with no luck so far. btw my friend can receive my texts but when my friend replies to my texts or initiates a conversation, it shows as sent on my friend's iphone but I never receive the messages.
It has been so frustrating so as a last resort we are considering turning off iMessage altogether on my friend's iphone 5 because deleting my contact from the iphone 5 and reactivating iMessage has not helped correct the problem. Question: what can we do on the iphone 5 that can make it "think" that the phone number is no longer associated to an iphone? Or how do we simply turn off iMessage from the iphone 5?
Any ideas will help. Thank you.

        Hi Htam,
Messaging is an important feature on the device! I apologize that your messages are not working properly. Let's dig a little deeper. Try the following instructions below to unregister your old iphone 4.
    Go to http://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do.
    Step 2
Log in with your Apple ID and password.
    Step 3
Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example).
    Step 4
    Click ‘Unregister’.
    Step 5
You’ll see the message ‘Are you sure you want to unregister and delete this product?’ – Click ‘Unregister’ again.
    Keep me posted.
    Thanks,

  • My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. Before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will it remain locked?

My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. However, before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will the phone remain locked?

Thanks, James. Sadly, I had not upgraded to iOS 7 as I only had an iphone 4 and those I knew with the 4 who upgraded had major issues with battery life, so I decided not to upgrade. However, I know the phone was locked because the new "owner" called and hung up on me while calling the number I listed in the "This phone is stolen message" set by the cloud. Are you saying that my phone will remain locked if they don't know how to break into it? Or are you saying that it will no longer stay locked once I turned off service to the phone?

  • HT1414 is it necessary to put in sim card in iphone at the time of restore ? My phone is stolen and i am concerned that if somebody will restore it then i will not be able to find it even using find my phone.

There is no way that you can locate the iphone at all.
The thief can restore it and use it as their own.  You will never know or be able to tell what they do with it.
Very sorry.  Your iphone is gone.
Report it to the police and change your passwords.
