I Think My Wireless Mighty Mouse is interfering with my wireless network

I Have had a Macbook months about and have been using the airport to connect to a wireless home network with WPA security.
This has worked great. However I recently purchased a Wireless Mighty Mouse. For some reason that I can not explain every time I start using the mouse with my Macbook my internet connection becomes very slow to the point where I cannot load webpages etc.
If anyone has any answers for why this my be happening it would be greatly appreciated

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
first of: Are you having these problems only in BootCamp Windows or is it also a problem in Mac OSX ?
The MacBook computer has an internal AirPort Extreme module, connected to a dedicated 1-lane PCI Express link and a Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (enhanced data rate) module, connected to the USB 2.0 controller. AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth have independent built-in antennas.
And the Wireless Mighty Mouse uses Bluetooth for connection, not Airport (W-Lan).
Two totally different protocols.
Most likely that these two do not interfere.

Stefan

  • Does Mighty Mouse only work with desktop Macs??

    I just bought an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse, assuming it'd work with my new Leopard OS X Macbook. I followed the instructions on the Mighty Mouse booklet...but no installation start-up window ever appeared. I'm a beginner with Apple, so I figure I've done something wrong....does the Mighty Mouse only work with desktop Macs and not MacBooks?
    Please help if you can.

    Ah! sorry, my mistake! "wireless" was the key word. And yes, prior to my new mighty mouse, I also used the wireless one. And you need to do the following:
    1) Turn bluetooth ON (either from finder icon (you can have it placed on your finder bar by tick box in sytem preferences/bluetooth.
    2) Then, you need to "pair" your mouse via bluetooth setup assistant.
    3) once "paired" off you go.

  • Can bluetooth mighty mouse be used with windows XP?

    i installed XP with bootcamp, and my mighty mouse worked the install of windows and everything, until i actuallly got into windows... any ideas?

    It works fine. After setup (use 0000 as pas code) the bluetooth device, you can use it. Upon logging in to the XP, just click once using mouse and then mouse will start working.
    However, not all the functions for mighty mouse (like horizontal scrolling, side button etc) works in WinXp side.

  • Will any wired MIghty Mouse still work with my G5?

    Unfortunately, my Mighty Mouse has reached the impossible-to-clean-trackball-anymore stage. It just won't scroll up anymore.
    My current Mighty Mouse dates to 2006 or 2007. I wish I knew the exact model number beyond A1152.
    Must I be concerned about what model Mighty Mouse I buy to replace this one? I know they came out with some zoom version. I don't care about the zoom. I just want the basic scrolling (I don't even use the side buttons; just click and scrolling).
    Will any model of wired Mighty Mouse be okay?
    Thanks so much!

  • Mighty Mouse looses connection with Mavericks ...

    Hello,
    last week I installed OSX 10.9 on my iMac i5 Mid. 2011 on a 2nd partition. At the 1st partition, I work with Snow Leopard.
    Since a few days I noticed, that my Mighty Mouse looses the connection to the iMac more frequently when I work with Mavericks. The batteries are at 60% and they both fits very well.
    If I reboot with OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, I'm able to work for hours, the connection is stably all the time. The mouse don't lost the connection.
    Has anyone an idea for this behavior?
    Thanks
    G. Hansen

    Well, that rules out wi-fi interference. Some people have reported that their Wi-fi causes Bluetooth devices to drop intermittently.
    I've got a Magic Mouse and it hasn't had any troubles with 10.9. My trackpad either and it's Bluetooth as well.
    Hopefully someone else will have more insight.

  • Cannot get bluetooth mighty mouse to work with win xp sp3 bootcamp ver 2.1

    I have tried the most popular solution of establishing the mouse as a device, highlighting it in the devices menu, then clicking properties, then services, and once it is done searching checking the box for the "drivers for keyboard, mice, etc [HID]and clicking apply. get the message with the header bluetooth error access denied. this happened recently when I updated bootcamp before mouse worked flawlessly for month on xp. If anybody has any solutions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Forgot to mention mighty mouse works fine in the mac os partition

    Try this solution. First click on the bluetooth icon at the bottom of the windows screen. Then click show bluetooth devices, then click add new devices and when the new device shows up double click on the device. Then a windows shows up at the top of this window it says general and other. Chose other. Another window shows up and check the small box. This small box searches for windows drivers just for this bluetooth device. When done it should pair and work fine.

  • My Magic Mouse is interfering with the wifi of my Retina Macbook pro

    Brand new Retina Display MacBook Pro with a brand new Magic Mouse and I can't use the mouse when I am browsing the web because it interferes with the wifi - for some unknown reason. Anyone help?

    That can happen when your Wifi is on the 2.4Ghz band as bluetooth uses this also.
    Change the Wifi channel to a lower channel like 1-3.  That should reduce/eliminate the interference.

  • Mighty Mouse Tracking Problems with Mac mini core duo

    I have a new Mac mini core duo (2GB RAM, 100GB HDD) and I'm having problems with my USB Might Mouse.
    The cursor stutters and doesn't track with the movement of the mouse and it will sometimes leap to a different part of the screen or get stuck at the last place it rested. At other times the mouse will track smoothly for a while before starting to stutter again. The behavior isn't consistent.
    Is anybody else having tracking problems?
    Any thoughts on what might be causing this behavior?
    iMac G5 20 & Mac mini 1.42Ghz, PB G4 1.67Mhz, Mac mini core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hmm, this could be one of two things. Your mac might be faulty (Harware wise) which would suck. But, hopefully it is a problem with your drivers that need updating. Try these 3 options.
    1. Update you mouse driver.
    2. Update you video card driver (Video cards can sometimes affect mouse sensitivety -don't ask why)
    3. This is my last solution, before consulting a technician (For money if you can do it free talk to one!) or returning your mini: Try reformating/reinstalling Max OSX and if u have bootcamp check out wat happens to the mouse in XP check for the same problem if it doesn't happen in XP your hardware is safe. IF the problem continues after this... looks like your hardware is bad in that case i recomend a return or send back (If your on warranty).
    GOod luck,

  • Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse internal speaker not working !!!

    Recently I bought an used Wireless Mighty Mouse (first version with grey side buttons), the mouse is working perfectly minus the single little detail that I can not hear any clicking sound from the internal tiny speaker inside the mouse when I use the little scroll ball above the mouse or when I press the grey side buttons, is this normal or should I hear the clicking sound simulated by the internal speaker? is there a way to enable or disable the internal speaker by software? Maybe is disabled by default, I don't know. I really don't think the speaker could be damaged due to the rest of the mouse is working like a charm but maybe mine came without a speaker, could be? or maybe it got disconnected somehow. Any clues or ideas would be very helpful. Thanks !

    I know what a microswitch is, please look at these links, here are the proof there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker in some mighty mouse and wireless mighty mouse:

    and I can keep giving you tens of links to proof you that actually there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker inside the mighty mouse and the wireless mighty mouse, If yours came without one it doesn't necessarily mean all came without one, right? That is why I asked you what version you have in order to figure out which ones does have the speaker and which one doesn't.

  • Wireless mighty mouse compatability

    I want to buy my first mac. I'm totally leaning toward a macbook, but I'm curious to know if the wireless mighty mouse can be used with it when it's just on my desktop. It's just easier sometimes. Thanks.
    Oh, and if it can't, how about the wired mouse?

    The wireless mighty mouse works great with the MacBook. I have had one for over a year. Best mouse I have ever owned.

  • Recently switched to Mac...Mighty Mouse or Wireless Mouse??

    After being a PC user for 15 years, I recently bought my first Mac...a black Macbook. I try to avoid using the trackpad unless I need to and I'm going to purchase an Apple mouse. My question for you guys, since I'm a noob, would you recommend an Apple Wireless Mouse or Mighty Mouse for use with my Macbook?
    [I'm currently using a Logitech MX1000 Laser with my PC and I love it!]
    Thanks for the help, I frequent these forums everydays. You guys are an invaluable resource for a new switcher!
    Black Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Dell Latitude D800

    The Mighty Mouse gives you several options that you set in System Preferences.
    - Single-button clicking, like traditional Mac mice;
    - Left and right clicking, like on Windows machines;
    - Center clicking (you press on the scroll wheel itself);
    - Side "squeeze" click;
    Most or all of these can be configured independently of one another.
    The wireless mouse also has no scroll wheel.
    Note, however, that there is not nearly as much need to right-click on a Mac. A right-click brings up a contextual menu, which generally provides a handful of useful commands, which vary with the application. But virtually all contextual-menu commands are available via the traditional menus.
    (To try out contextual menus, hold the Ctrl key while clicking. This simulates a right-click on a single-button mouse.)

  • Any difference between new and old wireless Mighty Mouse?

    Hello,
    I got an "old" wireless Mighty Mouse (the one with the grey side buttons) from my father. Now I am wondering if there is any difference between this mouse and the new one, besides the color change of the side buttons. I checked my mouse against the tech specs on the Apple Mighty Mouse site, and they seem to be absolutely identical, but still, I would like to hear this from an expert, which I hope to find here . Also, does anyone know where to find the user’s guide for the wireless mouse online? I have been searching the whole Apple site, but found it nowhere.
    Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Scroll Ball does not scroll downward

    Hello,
    I have a mighty mouse I use with my iMac and I cannot seem to get it to scroll down (any window) lately. The scroll ball does scroll up, but not down. I did reset the mouse, but is it time for a cleaning? I have used it for about 7-8 months. Thanks for the replies.

    Great adivce. My MM is 2 years old and just stared suffering the tortures of the damned. Tried it with water and dry with no joy. Tossed some rubbing alcohol on a bath towel. Did the trick despite lint. Work good for now.

  • Mighty Mouse Changes?

    I wonder if the old wireless Mighty Mouse (the one with the grey side buttons) and newer wireless Mighty Mouse (one with side buttons) have any differences in the chipset it uses.
    With the older grey side button one, I had jittery issues when my laptop was about 3.5 feet away with the top of the computer shut. Now, with the same setup, but with a new Mighty Mouse (white buttons) the issue seems to have gone.
    {Thanks to Apple Care, they have replaced my old Mighty Mouse which had scrolling issues that I couldn't solve.}

    This is 100% reproduceable on my MBP, regardless wether I delete
    a single file or a bunch of them or if the notebook was just rebootet etc.
    Still happens with 1.5.2

  • Mighty Mouse stopped working, help!

    I have been using my corded Mighty Mouse since 2007 with no problems. I have encountered problems with the scroll ball getting clogged but have always been able to clean it. However recently the mouse just stopped working unless I put it on a textured surface. Prior to this it always worked without a mousepad right on my desk. I cleaned the mouse and desk so I don't think this is the problem. What could be the issue?

    For better tracking, ideally, you should always use a mousepad. A shiny clean table surface will not always give you the best performance...
