I think the MENU button of my apple remote is broken. No infrared signal.
I think the MENU button of my apple remote is broken. All other button works perfectly except for the menu button. I used a digital camera to test the infrared signal from the remote, all other buttons emit infrared except the menu button. What can I do? Out of warranty already. Is it time to throw it away? If its a hardware issue, can I fix it? Or are apple remotes disposable?
The remote is only seldom used so I dont know what caused the menu button to break. Please help. I hope I won't need to buy a new remote.

Sounds as though it is broken if you've tested for the IR signal.
I have several white/grey remotes - some of the white ones have buttons that barely work and require very firm pressure to actuate. I think they do tend to wear out to be honest but others have no issues.
I actually prefer the older white remotes to the grey ones which seem to have less range and a narrower usable angle.
If you have an iPhone/iPad there's a free Remote app you could use provided you can use provided you can access Setting if you need to.
Apple sell the remotes quite cheaply, though you could also consider a multi-function remote or train AppleTV to use a different remote.

How do you set the menu button for a playlist?
I have a "Play All" playlist that I want to return to the main menu (when the menu button on a DVD remote is pressed). Right now, it's going to one of my sub menus. I can't figure out why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My "Play All" playlist is not a button on a menu. It is actually the "First Play" of my DVD. I want the user to be able to hit the menu on their remote and then go to the main menu. What's happening is the menu button is going to a sub menu. I find it frustrating that you cannot set the remote button options for a playlist. If this can't be done, is there at least a way to set my main menu screen as my "top menu"? I don't want to set all of my timelines to the main menu. If I were to set it that way, all of the clips from the sub menus would go back to the main menu (when the menu remote button is pressed). -
I have Apple TV version 7.4.2. We read in a blog that in order to reset our Apple TV we should press the menu button and the select big button at the same time which we did. Now when we attempt to turn on the apple tv box it with the remote we get a white light and sometimes we can get the menu screen but the remote will not let us move now will it allow us to turn the apple tv on or off. If we just leave it alone, the white light eventually goes away. I did unplug the apple tv and we removed the batteries and reinstalled them from the remote and that did not make any difference. Please advise.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore. -

My iPod touch's menu button literally sank in and now I am unable to use my iPod totally because I cannot press the menu button at all. Can Apple rectify this if I send it to a service center?
You should definetely contact an apple store! If your warranty is valid they will probably fix it for free. Until then go to settings, general, accessibility, assisive touch and turn it on. A circle will appear that does exactly what your home button does.

To open Front Row, why do you have to hit the menu button twice?
I notice that when I first restart my computer and want to access front row via the apple remote, I have to hit the menu button twice to activate it. Does anybody know why this is?
Not sure, but I don't think FrontRow is set to run when you start the computer. When you click the menu button it'll start up the program - this will take a little time.
Just a though, but maybe you're not giving it long enough after the first button click to start up and enter FrontRow? Since I rarely reboot my Mac (just put it to sleep) I haven't experienced your problem. -

I am trying to get Apple TV to 'learn' my SHAW PVR Remote. I can go thru all of the steps except when it gets down to the last item, the Menu Button, I have tried matching the Menu button next to the SETTINGS button on the remote, but it does not 'take'. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to only use one remote but don't want to go to a 3rd party one (for $100+) if i don't need to.

I was charging it from 1300-2300 (10 hours) since the apple logo wasn't coming up but that lightning bolt sign appeared.
When I came back, my phone just has a black screen and isn't turning on.
The top menu button is practically useless and I've retries connecting it to iTunes but it doesn't even do that
I've had this iPhone for more than 3 years and with time it's worn on and so the menu button has faltered and I dunno what to do.

I have just rented a film and clicked the menu button instead of pause. When I go back to the film to rent again it says I have already rented this go to settings and check for downloads. But there is no download option in settings?
It does... Apple TV has a problem with the assignment to the itunes account after updating. Restore to factory settings or unlog and news login to the itunes store helps to see the rented/downloaded film(s).

The menu button is not working on my iPod Nano
I cannot get back from anywhere. Once I have seleceted a track to play, the menu button does not work so that I cannot get back to all music or to choose other options such as radio. It does not make a click sound. It works occaisionally (once a week). Any ideas? Anyone had this problem before?

I rented a movie and accidentally hit the menu button and now I can figure out how to go back and watch it . When I try to press rent again it says you have already downloaded this movie go to settings and check for downloads but I can find it download in settings.
I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh. -
