The '4' in the name iPhone 4s represents the design model (case design) of the iPhone series. Both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s (upgraded camera and processor from 4) are 3g data phones on the Verizon network and share a nearly identical case design.
Iphone 5 was a new case design (for the iPhone 'line') and also sports a larger display. Along with this it also has 4g/LTE data capability. Where it lacks (In my opinion) is is no simultaneous voice/data capability and no NFC (near field communication).

iPhone 3G in a coma state though I was using iOS4 for a while (until today that is). Now "restored" to iOS4.2.
The problem still persists. When it's plugged into PC and charging, pressing Power / Home button always wakes iPhone from lock / sleep.
When taken off power, it still allows me to wake the phone from lock / sleep, but only if I do it every 5 seconds. After around 5 seconds, pressing the Power / Home button doesn't wake the phone from sleep, therefore necessitating a Hard Reboot (Power + Home held for 10 seconds).
There's also a very visible lag when using anything, even though my phone has no songs / apps / videos in it anymore.
When calling to the iPhone or sending SMS', the sender finds as though the iPhone is working, but the iPhone itself makes no response to show that a message has been received or that it is being called.
This is just infuriating, because if it can't do any of the other functions, it could at least be usable as a phone
This is an emergency, I don't know how to get ahold of another phone, and I have exams for which I need my phone to coordinate things like transport, or calls /messages from the exam centre.

No help, anyone ?
It feels such a waste to have a perfectly usable and amazing (though apparently obsolete) phone which can't be used for a tiny little bug when it's not connected to the charging station :C

Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:

Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.

Well, the sleep/wake button is also the power button. If you cannot use it to turn on, then you cannot use it to perform a reset by holding it and the home button together until you see the Apple logo.Those are the only two ways to turn the device on. You can try letting the battery go completely dead and then trying to plug it in. After it has charged for 20-30 minutes, the device may come back on. But, without the sleep/wake button, there is no other way to turn the device on or off.

This problem is irritating me....?

To take panorama
- ensure that the panorama option is on
- press the shutter button once
- you will see a line with an arrow
- move around in a circle ( I keep the camera steady and turn myself around in a circle)
- as you do this you will see the arrow moving across the screen as it captures pictures
- at the end of the capture, you will be able to see your panorama picture

I restored the factory settings....the phone was on recovery mode...it was verified by itunes and all that..but in the end it again said that iphone has some problem and can not function right now.
after that when ever i connect it with itunes, it gives the message, it can not activate the iphone further, try again later or contact customer service.
What to do now?????? Customer service people say..it is hardware problem

If it's a hardware problem, then the phone will need to be replaced.
There is no magic that can fix a hardware problem.

I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.

This just started when I got my ipad and sent a message for the first time. As a side note, my daughter received an itouch and both my husband and i were getting all messages she sent, no matter which one of us they were sent to. I turned her imessage off. We have all of our devices under the same itunes account so that we can share all music and apps. How can we get around this? I do not want him receiving all imessages that I send, this will get very annoying to him.

You can have a separate AppleID only for iMessage and keep using the other one for iTunes.
Just change the AppleID used for iMessage in Settings > Messages > Receive At

I was updating my iphone in itunes, then it said the update went wrong and now does not recognize the phone. Says that it is an unknown iphone and I must restore the phone. How can I get it back without deleting all of my stuff?

I was updating my phone in itunes and the "update went wrong" and now the phone is not recognized by itunes. I unattatched the phone and it wont turn on or off, just shows a picture of the itunes symbol and a usb cord. In itunes it says that it is an unknown iphone and is in recovery mode so I need to restore the phone. If I restore the phone I loose all my pictures, which I dont want to do...and my contacts. Is there any way around this, so I can get my phone back to normal without wiping it all out? Thanks

I used the phone for about a month with no problems at all, even had my apple ID in the icloud and everything... well ios 7.0.6 came out and I used my computer to restore the phone, because I feel that the cord and computer gives it a better restore, it did great no problems, and when it went to the part where I went to activate the phone, I get a enter your apple id and password to complete activation... Wait... why is this up i thought, I thought I did everything like I suppose to to succesfully switch it to me, the new owner... but now its asking for some C******@yahoo.com.... I only have @gmail.com emails and none start with a C... The guy sold me the phone because he was switching to Verizon, and I tried to call him, and now the number is disconnected... Your phone is in recovery mode. All data on it are already lost. You must connect your phone to your computer and restore through iTunes.

I need to restore my phone back to last Thursday when the information was on my phone. How do I find the backup on my pc and once I find it how do I move it to itunes for me to restore my phone to that day?

I wished I had known this before I said yes to using icloud. I guess those things will be lost and gone forever, since I do not want to lose my present settings and data. Also do not want to go through the hassle of backing up present, then resetting phone, then restoring oldest back up, then backing up oldest backup to pc, so I can safely backup selected items to my pc; then reset my phone again to restore latest back up. It would take way too much time and no guarantee.
I backed up my phone to my pc, but have not checked it yet, so don't know if it worked.
If I decide to quit using icloud (which will probably happen since backing up to external hard drive allows me to open backups) what will happen to my present data and settings? Will they just remain as they were without icloud, as they were before icloud? I'm scared to just delete it; not knowing what will happen. Now I cannot sign in to iCloud because it will not let me enter the new Apple ID. I read the 10/30/13 randers4 post to just change your Apple ID back then sign in and change it to the new email address again and then you can sign in, but I cannot change back to the prior email address Apple ID because that is no longer an active email account (or at least not mine). Any thoughts on how to get signed into iCloud when it does not allow me to type in the new Apple ID and the old Apple ID no longer exists.
I see that many people have asked, but no one has come up with a solution that I found.

This did not work for me. My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook. I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up. I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.
