I thought Garage Band was included with OS X Mountain Lion??

Any help on this matter?  Also, I was curious if this is only a recording program?  Or, if u can plug in an mpk or other midi controller?

if you buy a new mac, the iLife applications are preinstalled, but if you upgrade your Mac OS X, this will not install the iLife applications.
GarageBand is much more than a recording program. It is designed to record audio and midi, and to mix and to arrange songs. It comes with plenty of software instruments to be used with midi tracks, with audio filters, and loops (rhythms, world instruments) and sound effects, stomp box effects for your electric guitar.

  • HT5379 What is the Licence situation with the fonts included with OS X Mountain Lion (in particular Silom font)? Can these be used for commercial use?

I'm keen to use Silom in a logo lockup that I'm creating for a national campaign - but can't find any info on purchasing an extended licence anywhere. Is this even possible with OSX system fonts?

    Hi,
I have re-read the thread as it has been some time since this was written.
    In brief:-
The Sounds only play if another App is "in Front" of Messages (for example Safari is listed in the Menu bar)
Also they have to be set in Messages Menu > Preferences > Alerts and Notifications in System Preferences have to be on as well if you want to see the Banner or Alert type pop ups.
Setting No Sound for an action in Messages also overrides the Sound option in Notifications in System Preferences.
The com.apple.ichat.plist does hold the info on the sounds chosen for the actions.
It also holds the info on Sounds set individually for Buddies via the Buddy Lists.
None of the other ichat.plists, the IMAgent one or the two iMessages ones hold any info on this.
The majority of the Thread above deals with the Notifications sound and the different type of pop ups that alert you to things happening in Messages when it is hidden from view by another app.
Some sounds should still play even if the App is in "front"  of others such as the Sound connected with Sending iMessages or Text IMs to Buddies.
Also the  sounds for Buddies becoming Available or Going Off Line should still play if set.
You appear to imply you are losing the sound of one event without actually stating which sound and which action.
The Default sound for Messages Sent  is s sort of "woowhit" where as the Message Received Sound is a more "woo" only noise.
If things have changed then some ideas about that might be helpful.

  • Garage band was installed under another apple ID

I recently purchased a Mac mini from someone. The iLife suite was registered under thier apple ID. I could not update garageband due to this. I read some forums that said to delete the app and repurchase it. I deleted the app and now when I go to purchase it it just has an "Accept" button. When I click on the accespt button it tells me to sign in with the apple ID that Garage band was registered with. I have to have garage band to fifnish some projects. I don't mind purchasing the app but it won't even allow me to do that. Help!!

It might not be stolen.  It might be carelessness on the part of the original owner.  Unfortunately, it's the same result.

Yes.  Only on disk (my preferred way to purchase software).

It is, if you buy iLife on disk.
My new machine didn`t have it.
Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  Then ask to speak to a senior advisor by requesting a callback.

If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD.

  • Cisco Connect does not run with Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

When I first installed Cisco Connect that came with my E1500 router, I was running Mac OSX Snow Leopard (10.7) and it worked fine.  I upgraded my OSX to Mountain Lion and now when I start Cisco Connect, I get:
    Unsupported operating system
The router software supports these operating systems:
    - Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later
    - Mac OS X 10.7 or later
I saw some other thread/info/download on Cisco Connect with Lion (10.7) but nothing for Moutain Lion (10.8) - is there a fix forthcoming?
    Thanks
    Gary

All i want to do is disable the guest function through cisco. i live in an apartment and everyone logs into my guest account. i was at my neighbours and they were laughing saying they done need to subscribe for the internet cause they just log onto local wi fi. and mine is one of them. i dont know if that'll slow down my internet with so many people using it. but all i want to do is just avoid it all together and get rid of it. but in this case i am having the same problem as all of you. to disable the guest function you need to go through cisco connect and it is not compatible with mac osx mountain lion. grrrrrrr

  • If you get a new 2013 macbook air does the laptop come with os x mountain lion?

I have a new 2013 MacBook Air and i was wondering if my laptop came with OS X Mountain Lion????

It should. To check click the Apple logo in the menu bar (top left) and select "About This Mac"
If the OS X version shows 10.8 then you have Mountain Lion.
If you don't have the Mac yet then the new one you buy will have Mountain Lion on it.

You want to write a review about Mountain Lion? I'm not sure that you can write about the OS at the app store - it's not an app. Or are you talking about the online Apple store? If you want to send feedback to Apple, you could use this:

How do I sync Office 2011 for Mac (Outlook) contacts with Contacts under Mountain Lion (or iOS6)?  Outlook doesn't seem to have moved on from iSync, and meddling seems to produce unpredictable results.

You can't. Microsoft have not added support for the industry standard sync protocols iCloud uses.

  • Sync google tasks with reminder in mountain lion

Is there a way to sync google tasks with reminder in Mountain Lion?

Findley you're correct because I did the same thing.
I'll summarize for all people with the same problem :
If you are a Google user like me (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts) you will probably run into trouble getting the Reminders and Notes working.  After trying a lot of things I just gave up and decided to stick with Google, except for the Reminders and Notes. In other words :  I'm now using iCloud for these two and it works perfectly : very fast and without any trouble whatsoever.  There seems to be a catch because of the fact that Notes are tied with a @me.dcom email address and Reminders are tied with an Apple iCloud Calendar, but in fact, you can just ignore them and keep using Google for that.
In other words:  I let Apple create an iCloud Calendar when enabling iCloud Reminders, but I'm not using the Calendar and I let Apple create an @me.com email address but I'm not using it.  To use Notes and Reminders I'm using the apps on my iPhone and Macbook for that.  I can also login to iCloud.com using any browser to access Notes by opening the iCloud email app and Reminders by opening the iCloud Calendar app.  Later this year, Apple will even provide seperate Notes and Reminders icons on the iCloud website so it will be even more transparant.
So, Google for :  mail, calendar, contacts
iCloud for : Safari, Notes, Reminders, Find my Mac, PhotoStream
For Documents, I'm not using neither Google or iCloud for the moment... it's up to you to decide.
This solution has no drawback as far as I know and it works perfectly.

  • Does all new macbook air come with OS X Mountain Lion?

does all new macbook air come with OS X Mountain Lion? if so, where can i find it? cause if i'm right, i remember saw a mountain lion logo on someones desktop. also, if i have it on my mac, why do I find it in the apple store saying that I need to purchase it for $19.99?

All new MacBooks Air come with OS X Mountain Lion, as it's the only supported version in Mid 2013 MacBooks Air. Mid 2012 MacBooks Air come with Lion or Mountain Lion, depending on when they were manufactured.

The Mid 2013 MacBook Air uses a special OS X Mountain Lion version which is different than the version available at the Mac App Store. That's the reason why you see the price at the Mac App Store, but you already have Mountain Lion. If you try to purchase Mountain Lion, the App Store will tell you that it's not compatible with your MacBook Air. To reinstall Mac OS X, you have to use OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
