I thought itunes 7.6 allows allows drag and drop to iphone

So I was reading a few sites and they stated that itunes 7.6 now allows iphone users to drag and drop movies + music. Basically allows you to manually manage your stuff without having to go through the whole "synch" thing.
But for the life of me i can't figure out how to do this. I have 7.6 but i can't drag or drop anything into my iphone. What am i missing

I must be blind because I see no options section. I opened iTunes on my computer, main iPhone screen, no options section. I tried opening iTunes on my iPhone in case that is what you meant, but I see no options section there either. I know this is probably so simple and I'm being simple minded by not seeing it, but I don't!!! Can any one walk me through it like I'm braindead?

ITunes won't let me drag and drop anymore

Last friday, I closed my Macbook and it never started again. I bought a new one. The guy at the Mac Store said, "Just plug in your iPhone, enter your pw, and everything will work like it used to." Of course, I left the store thinking, "No way is that going to happen," but I didn't stay and fight. Of course, I plugged in my iPhone, immidately my Mac started saying, "You do not have sufficient permissions." To get rid of it, I read a post that said I should select to sync and then unsync everything from the phone (which deleted everything of course, but I'm not that upset about). Anyhow, the iPhone syncs now, but the lingering issue is that my old computer let me drag and drop MP3 files directly from my Finder window to the iPhone music library in iTunes. I DID NOT HAVE TO USE THE ITUNES LIBRARY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO CREATE PLAYLISTS. (I hate people who capitolize things, but I've read in several other posts where people say, "That was never possible to drag and drop, you always had to create playlists." No, you did not. I gurantee you because I've never done it). To state it just once more, I did NOT load the songs into iTunes, then go from iTunes to the iPhone, but instead, with iTunes open, and the iPhone plugged it, I would select the mp3 in the Finder window, then drag it to the part of iTunes which allows me access to the iPhone, and the iPhone section of iTunes (not the main iTunes library on my Macbook, but the iPhone itself) would become highlighted in blue, then I would release the trackpad and the song would load onto the iPhone (but never be associated with or loaded into the iTunes library for my Macbook).
Now when I drag the mp3 over, the iPhone section stays gray and won't let me do it.
How can I fix this? I detest iTunes. I'd be in love with Apple completely if it weren't for iTunes, which is constantly broken and never works. I'm happy with my music stored in my own filing mechanism, with my own method of tagging them, and I don't want to conform, I don't want to "get used to it."
Please someone tell me how to fix this! (Before it messes up my iPad as well).
PS... Of course, in the time my computer broke and I bought the new one, Apple released yet another updated version of iTunes, which they forced me to update before I could even use it. So, I don't know if the phone didn't sync over correctly or the update didn't work.

Max OSX 10.5.something (the last update available for it. .8 maybe? haha)

DRag and drop to iPhone etc faulty Itunes 10.6.1

I've just realised why my Iphone only had a few songs on it and its VERY frustrating.
Prior to this update I could drag an album into my iPhone then drag another and it woud simply add those songs to the list being loaded.
Not anymore!
Now iTunes stops loading the first album, thiknks for a bit and loads the second drag. Utterly useless!
I usually drag a selection of purchased and other songs in every couple of weeks for my daily commutes with this 'new' setup it would take a week to drag in a playlist coz I have to wait for every album!

I think im having the same problem.
i just updated to Itunes 10.6.1 and then wanted to update my phone with some new music.
I go to drag and drop one song into my music under devices and i get the black circle with a line through it. Help!

I cant manually drag and drop my video files to my iPhone using iTunes. When I click on my device and go to summary and check "Manually manage music and videos" and click apply I get a message saying " The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with another library?"
" An iPhone can be synced with only ones iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents, of this phone with the contents of this iTunes library"
My options are to erase and sync or cancel. I do not want to erase the contents of my iPhone can anyone help?

To recap... here is a fuller version of my advice on "how to move a library from one computer to another."
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
As I said in the other thread if you want to be certain of attracting my attention simply post into either of these threads to which I've already posted. These come to the top my active list whenever a new post is added to the thread. Otherwise I keep a general lookout across a number of forums for the threads where I think I can help, but I don't get to read everything...

Are you sure that those are regular playlists (music note symbol) and not smart playlists (gear symbol)? Smart playlists populate themselves according to their rules, and you cannot drag songs into them.

Itunes 11.1.5.5 - Drag and drop stopped working

Using windows 8.1 and I tunes 11.1.5.5.
I am unable to copy songs from music file to itunes library using drag and drop.
Previously this functionality worked to transfer over 8,000 songs.....now with latest I tunes update.....kaput.
Please help me to get back my efficiency.

ITunes locks up when I drag-and-drop video file into library

I have some videos that I have on my computer that I want to add to my library but when I drag and drop them into my library iTunes freezes. I never had any problems with this before. The format is right. I used a program to convert them and other videos worked but this one.

What version of iMovie?
What Device?
Have tried to restart, soft reset your device?
What is the video audio source?

No drag and drop to iPhone?

So I purchased my iphone recently, and set it up, but for some reason I have to sync playlists every time I want to change the songs on my iphone? what happened to drag and drop, and delete? Is there something I am missing here?

Sounds as if you didn't really try Randy's suggestion based upon your response. Try it, I think you'll like it, and as a matter of fact, once you figure out the best way to deal with the playlist, I suspect you'll like it just as much if not more than the old way. By the way, you ARE syncing when you drag and drop, it just gets initiated right when you drop the song and in the playlist case, you can wait to sync at the end so your itunes doesn't get sluggish.
As far as the password is concerned, you HAD to have set that up originally, otherwise you wouldn't get email. When you restore, they wipe out the passwords for security purposes. Just go back into the settings for mail and put your password back in there.

Drag and drop ringtones iphone 4s

I have an iPhone 4s and am using an authorized computer with windows 7. Is it possible to drag and drop ringtones from this computer onto my iPhone, perhaps I am missing something but it seems like manual loading should be possible, yet every time I try I get the red circle with the line through it icon. Anyone else having this problem.

ITUNES 9.2 NOT SUPPORTING DRAG AND DROP TO TOAST CORRECTLY

APPLE is turning into MICROSOFT!!! The new iTunes update to 9.2 may be necessary for iPhone 4 to work but they missed a whole bunch of things. For example when I drag a track from my iTunes window to the desktop I used to see the file on the desktop with the artwork INCLUDED as the file's icon - now when I drag it the artwork is no longer included in the thumbnail nor when I hit the space bar to preview the track can I see the artwork - something I used a lot when I do my job reviewing music - sometimes 200 track per week so it has ruined my process of working with music files in large quantites.
Also - I always found that iTunes never correctly embeds the text info for each track into CDs whenever I used the program to burn CDs. Often when I am DJing in a club the text info would not show on the CD player screen. I found that Toast would do this perfectly everytime regardless of what model CD player I was working with. So I would grab an entire playlist from iTunes and drop it into the Toast window and simply hit burn.
NOW in 9.2 I can no longer select an entire playlist and drag it to Toast. I have to drag all the files out of iTunes, into a folder where the files sort themselves into random order so I then have to reassemble the playlist track by track in Toast - this takes 10 times longer or more.
By forcing these unwanted practices upon us APPLE is turning into MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I think what people have to realize is as updates come up, code changes. This therefore may not result in best compatibility with other software, and you have to admit, it's not Apple's responsibility to make sure every single other software is ready to work with a new version, it is rather the programmers of Toast, or whatever else you use. Apple needs to worry about their program alone.
Maybe Toast will release an update. Not to say iTunes 9.2 isn't due for further fixes. There are problems with the artwork viewer, artwork, and iPod syncing, but those will come in time. I really think this is just a consequence of Apple revamping their system (for example, to result in quicker performance for cover flow and grid view), and bugs and incompatibilities will always surface from that.

ITunes won't let me drag and drop music

I have converted files from YouTube to mp3 and then put them in my iTunes library... but iTunes won't let me put them into my phone. I have manually manage music selected and it has allowed me to do so in the past (maybe 2 weeks ago). I'm just really frustrated now because I don't like syncing my entire library because iTunes somehow manages to forget the majority of my music's artwork which is important since I paid for all but 3 of the songs in my library. Help?
