I thought the iPad screen was scratch proof?

I thought the iPad was scratch proof yet mine has a scratch/dent on the screen. Will apple do something about this?

The screen is fingerprint resistant, not scratch proof. IF ... You can convince Apple that the screen was damaged when you took it out of the box, they may replace the device for you. You would have to contact Apple and show the device to a genius at an Apple Store for starters.

  • IMac screen was scratched since we bought it, havent had the time to go...

We needed to keep the iMac around so I can do my work for teaching, since we just recently got a Macbook I can now do without my iMac for a few days. The issue I have is that the screen has been scratched since we bought it, but I didn't have a choice in being able to bring it back Apple for replacement since my other Mac had died and I needed certain software I use on the Mac for teaching.
The iMac is under a year old and just curious if anyone has ever had a similar situation OR maybe an Apple Rep can respond to this.

How long have you had the iMac? Unless you have had it only a short time, it's doubtful that you'll be able to convince Apple that the screen was scratched when you got it. You can of course call Apple and ask, or go back where you bought it if you purchased from an Apple Store. But if you've had it for a number of weeks or months, it's unlikely that they'll be able to do anything for you.
maybe an Apple Rep can respond to this.
As Dennis said, Apple technical and customer service representatives do not normally participate in these forums. You'll need to talk to Apple directly.
    Good luck.

I have connected them via the Ipad to a LIGHTNING DIGITAL AV ADAPTER-ZML connected to a APPLE HDMI TO HDMI CABLE (1.8 M)-ZML, and to the HDMI port on the PC. But now I don't know how to show the Ipad screen on the PC, as if it was a monitor / screen, so that I can then use Lync and share my PC screen with people virtually.
    Thanks for any help! Regards

Hi Rob - thanks so much for your help!  Could you tell me what "air sever or reflector apps." are? and where can I look for information about them?
Do you use them on the Ipad or on the PC?

  • DOES THE IPAD SCREEN SHATTER EASILY?

I have had my IPAD for 3 months and love it! I travel a lot and use it for business. I have a carrying case which is well padded and the other day when I returned from a business trip I opened up my case and found that my IPAD screen was shattered on the upper left hand side. I then called APPLE to find out that I would have to pay over $500.00 for a refurbished IPAD. Is this common? I am a big user of APPLE products and currently have a APPLE home system and a IPHONE and have been happy with these products but not to pleased with what happened the other day to my IPAD...

Glass breaks if not handled appropriately. Whether it be a drinking glass, spectacles, a window, a TV screen or whatever.
It is not at all common for the screen to shatter under normal use, but if something heavy hits the glass, it is dropped or pressure is put on it, then any glass may break. It's certainly not a problem inherent to the iPad.
Accidental damage is not covered by the manufacturers warranty.

  • My video playback out...every video shakes/flashes/doesn't play right. What's wrong? I thought the hard drive was too full, but I just deleted 125gigs, rebooted and it still flashes and doesn't play videos. This is true for youtube, ads, foxnews videos...

My video playback out...every video shakes/flashes/doesn't play right. What's wrong? I thought the hard drive was too full, but I just deleted 125gigs, rebooted and it still flashes and doesn't play videos. This is true for youtube, ads, foxnews videos...

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
    Is there an easier way?

  • ITunes icon on the iPad screen

I was synching my iPad 3 with iTunes and all was well until the iTunes icon with a cable picture aappeared on the iPad screen. I can't get rid of, it won't go away and the home button and off buttons are not functioning. How do I get back to the home screen? Or at least, how do I connect again to the iTunes store? Hope someone can help. Please....

You may have to force your iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

Probably not, since user-caused damage isn't covered by the warranty. But you can take the iPhone to an Apple Store and see if there's anything they can do for you. A phone company store will not service your iPhone at all, to the best of my knowledge.

  • No service on IPad 2 after upgrade to IOS 8. Waited a month to try it. A restart brings connectivity back for a while. If the iPad 2 was too old to receive this upgrade it should have been excluded from it.

Upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8. Waited a month as I saw all the problems other users were having. Now I am with them. No service. Connectivity restored only after a restart . These are necessary frequently. Last week I had a fully functioning iPad now I do not.
If the IPad 2 was not capable of handling the upgrade it should have been excluded. I have read the fixes, tried some, apprehensive about trying others. Why should the customers have to work to fix an upgrade meant to improve performance?
Any news on an IOS fix?
Any solutions other than wiping out  everything and starting over? Have seen that several times. Backing up, wiping clean, refreshing, restoring...why do we have to struggle?
i am spending way too much time trying to get my iPad back to what I had. I am sure the genius bar is packed with iphone 6 users and the new edition iPads. No room for folks with "old" ones. And if I try something and fail then I have nothing at all.
Hoping for a "fix" from Apple as well as any ideas.

  • After downloading an app and later trying to open the app, the iPad screen turns green and nothing happens

After downloading an app, then later trying to open it again, the iPad screen turns green and nothing happens.  How can I fix this?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sifnout and sign back in
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Is there any possibilities that the ipad screen get enlarged?

    Hello,
For starter, I would like to say that I don't own a tablet yet.
Now for the real question, with the new technologies everyday and with all the competition between the companies, is apple going to enlarge the size of the ipad screen or do they see it fine as it is?
Its because every year or every 6 months there is a new product coming and the competition between the brands are getting higher and I cannot afford to change a product every year so how long should the ipad lives with me? And why I should choose Apple? (Beside the below message)
What I liked about the Apple is the quality of built and apps, but in other brands I am finding larger screens higher performance and an external slot for an SD card to expand the memory.
    Thank you

Nobody here knows Apples future plans.
You can use an iPad for as long as you want. Nobody forces you to buy a new one every year. Apple usually provides OS updates to older devices for at least a few years.
Buy the tablet that suits your needs best.
