I took out a clip from project window.

I took out a clip from project window. I went back to the event window and when I played back it was like it skipped a frame.  the audio was fine but the vid was skipping every other frame.  any suggestions?

Buying AppleCare, at this point, would be a waste of money. You voided your warranty when you replaced your optical drive with a hard drive. Only RAM and hard drive bay customer alterations will not affect your warrany.
You could have, I suppose, kept the optical drive and if your computer ever needed Apple repair, have replaced the hard drive for the optical again before taking it in for service. A little bit underhanded, but some people have done it.
You're pretty much just out of luck now...

  • Clips from Project bin to source monitor causing video output to go out of sync(CS6 and CC)

Any footage I double-click or drag from the Project window to the Source monitor causes my video output to go out of sync. When I put the clips in the timeline, video goes back in sync and I'm able to view video output.  My monitors are connected to a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt(9.7.5) via component and HDMI. Is this normal behavior in Premiere or is there a setting to enable this? No issues doing this in FCP7(clips from Project window to Canvas).
Can someone with an I/O from AJA, Matrox, or Blackmagic please test this out for me. Thanks...

    Hi Joe,
How do you have your audio setup? Try the following.
    - Set your OS system sound to Built-in or Line out audio
    - Select Blackmagic for both Video and Audio in Preferences> Playback
    - Select System Default Input/Output from Preferences> Audio Hardware
    Hope this helps,

  • How to reveal from Project window where clip is used on timeline? CS4

I've inherited a huge project. One of my tasks is to go through replacing all the audio (done as .mp3) and replace with .wav versions. In the project window's bins I have the .mp3 version sitting next to the .wav version.
I'm sure I've seen a way that you can select a clip in the project window and get Premiere to show where on the timeline and in which sequence(s) this clip is used. I've searched the help and googled for the answer but can't find it! Have I been dreaming? Is there a way to show whereabouts in the project a clip is used? If there isn't, can anyone suggest a good workflow for me? I have about 150 .mp3s to replace with .wavs...
    Thanks
    Mark

    Mark,
Great news! I thought that it had been added. I too inherited a major Project and could have used that 1000 times. Unfortunately, I am still on PrPro 2.0 (CS4 was not out then), so I had to do it pretty much manually. Fortunately, many of the Assets were in a semi-logical order, so it was not as tough as your case. Also, I was able to place the old edit into logical Sequences, so I was only working with 1 Timeline at a time, and not the original 8+ hour behemoth, that had been started. This limited my searches to maybe 100 Assets at a time.
Glad that you found it, and now I can look forward to using it, when I upgrade.

  • Retain stabilization after splitting clip in Project window

New to '09 but absolutely loving it over '06. Just a couple of questions that are bugging me, though:
Let's say I have a clip in the Project window with a red hand. I split the clip to cut out the red squiggles, expecting the hand to change colour to reflect the better condition of the remainder. Instead, the clip just becomes un-stabilized and I have to open the Inspector again. Am I missing something?
Also, is there a quicker way to turn on/off stabilization than the Inspector? I would expect it in the contextual menu, but it isn't.
    Thanks for any tips.

In my experience, splitting the clip to remove the hand did not work. I had to drag the frames from the event that could be stabilized. To do this with precision, I set the Thumbnail slider to 1/2 second so I could get all the good frames.

  • Searching for clips in project window takes forever...spinning ball

Not sure what could be causing this but searching for any clips in Premiere Pro CC project window takes forever.
I'm editing on a 2013 iMac i7 maxed out with full RAM (32GB) and my project along with all clips is on an external 4TB thunderbolt drive with over 1TB of free space.
Searching for a single clip, will often take minutes when typing the clip's name in the project window. It should pop up within seconds but it takes literally can take up to 5 minutes as the mac spinning beach ball keeps flashing. Is this normal? Hopefully the latest update will make the project window searches much faster.
I just can't understand it as I had a project of similar size in FCP7 where I could call up clips within a split second just by typing the name.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
The tilde "~" character represents your home folder.
Since the problem happens in more then account I'm not sure if trashing the .plist file will help but won't hurt to try.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
anyone have any idea why it would take forever for the Finder selection window to pop up?
    Try repairing disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

  • Premiere Pro CC crash when dragging media from project window

I have had so many problems with CC (2014) since the 8.1 update. The latest problem is interacting with media in the project window. In any version of PP (7, 8.0.1, 8.1), when I attempt to drag media from the project window to the timeline i get the "Premiere Pro CC has encountered a serious error..." crash. I am running a Macbook Pro i7, 16gb of ram, Nvidia GT 750m graphics card, on OSX Yosemite. I have tried clearing the media cache and clearing settings on startup with alt+shift. I have been using 8.0.1 because of previous problems with serious ui lag on 8.1. I have had more problems with PP in the last 3 months, than in the previous 7 years I've used it.

    Hi Huzzahbeard,
Just out of curiosity. How is it that your software is hindered by a plugin in Chrome. I .... I have no words. This solved my problem and thats great except. Push Bullet is the issue! No, what is premiere even doing with my browser that push bullet would cause problems.
I looked at our bug database and there is no real "reason" listed as to why this particular issue occurs (and it does affect a couple of our other non-video applications—InDesign and Illustrator, as well).
A common troubleshooting step for when things go wrong with an application is to remove any recently installed applications or plug-ins. As I understand it, certain applications share resources which can affect each other. Since Chrome extensions are created using Javascript, I assume that is the area of conflict.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Missing Audio waveforms from Project window

I'm hoping anyone can help me.  I'm trying to customize volume within a range of a song.  I've dragged the audio into my project timeline, however no matter what I try  I cannot get the waveform to appear.  I've tried absolutely everything I can think of including reverting layout of the project window.
I've worked with audio in projects before and feel I have a fair bit of experience with it but this one has really baffled me.
As you can see from the image attached, waveforms from other audio clips are showing up just fine but the song running along the bottom, no workie.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A period only has a UNIX function if it is the FIRST character in the name! (hide file from Finder view), so that is not the issue here. ;-)
And Tom, why should the audio be AIFF?? I drag mp3/m4a files from iTunes ALL the time, without any issues - FCPX even has a native, build-in iTunes browser, so requiering AIFF seems strange, unless FCPX transcode it when it's dragged in!

  • Can't drag imovie clips to project window to export them

I just finished interviewing someone remotely where he was recording his video on his mac with imovie. The recording went great but when he tried to drag the raw footage to the project window so he could export them to me, he could not drag them. They just kept bouncing back. He does not need to edit the clips just export them to me. The files are not unusually big. Why can't he drag them to the project window?

    Hi
Did he first - in the Project window - create a new project (PLUS SIGN - down to the right) ?
    must do that first
then open this new project and drag event clips to it (I keep alt-key down when clicking down on one event clip to get all of it)

  • Final Cut Pro X project timeline vanished from project window.

I'm using Final Cut Pro X on my Intel based iMac running Snow Leopard. I was trimming a video file in the project timeline when the timeline vanished. The project window is there but the timeline is gone in all projects. Any ideas?

Same thing just happened to me, I can preveiw the project still, and no it is not a matter of zooming out. There is no enter full screen option in snow leapord. This is a huge issue and needs to be addressed ASAP!
The affected project is the music video, you can see that it is completely grey.
This is what it looks like when you open the project, no timeline. Just a grey area.

  • PIP / Green screen only using clips from project libary

    Hello,
I've been experimenting with iMovie and looking to combine some clips and do some PIP, Greenscreen, etc. The only way I combine 2 clips to to drag it down from the event library. Is there no way to combine 2 clips from the project library?
I ask this because all the clips on the project library are edited, cut and ready to go. The event library footage is hours long and raw, seems like a obvious thing to be able to combine 2 project libary clips but I cannot seem to do it.
Failing that, I though maybe add the Project library clip to the event library and do it that way but that also does not seem to work
Hopefully I've explained myself ok, if you need any more info or explanation just ask.

Yes, you need to drag clips from the Event Library to the project.
If you need to use some edited project clips in a project, you should use the SHARE menu to Export Using QuickTime. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the video codec, and save it to a place where you can find it. Then you can import it to an iMovie Event using FILE/IMPORT MOVIES...

  • I took out my superdrive from my MBP and sold it online. Should I still buy apple care?

When I took out my superdrive and replace it with a hard drive, I sold my superdrive and use the money to buy an harddrive. Now, since I did it already and forgot the future possibility of breaking my MBP, is it necessary to buy apple care since I heard that my warranty is voided anyways? So far, my MBP works fantastically and have no problems at all.

  • Lift and Extract from Project Window.

I'm exploring areas I've never used in PP CS3.
I understand how Lift and Extract are SUPPOSED to work.
What I am experiencing is that unless a clip is in a certain layer (that is highlighted), it doesn't lift or extract.
In this case it's layer 4.
Based on how I've read this function is supposed to work,  I'd image it would extract from any clip under the lift/extract area.
However, unless the clip is in layer 4(in this project) it doest work. Move a clip to layer 4, it does.
Do I have some strange preference set?
The capture below shows the only layer that gets extracted. You can see the blue highlighted area in the pic below.
Only a clip that intersects with that layer will be lifted or extracted. Not the clip 2 layers below.

    Solved.
Bizarre. All I had to do is select is select the layer on the left.
In my hundreds of hours in Premiere I have NEVER had the occasion OR need to select a layer...until now....and the lift/extract and even trim window are functions I've never used or missed.

  • In making a "highlights" movie, using clips from different imported iMovie events, can I delete the larger iMovie event file from the Events browser and still work w the smaller clips in the Projects browser w/o having the larger files still loaded?

I have sucessfully imported 150 Sony digital 8mm movies (each one hour in length) into iMovie as 150 iMovie events. I have since successfully converted them from their original 13 Gb (.dv) file to an exported smaller 1.3 Gb (.4mv "large file") movie that I am happy with, using the iMovie projects browser. So now I have 150 " .4mv" movies on my internal HD as well as about half of my original raw data " .dv " movies on my internal hard drive.
Due to their large size (over 2 Tb), I do not have all the larger raw data (.dv) files on my 2Tb internal drive, just about half of them. What I want to do now is to create a new project in the Projects browser for each of my kids, and reload, starting with Tape #1, each of these larger files and do a highlights movie for each of my kids, wherein I pick out smaller clips from each 1 hour .dv iMovie event and paste them into the appropriate kid's Highlights project in the Projects browser.
Here's my question: If I load the first 5 large files back onto my internal HD, and paste in various shorter clips into each of my kids' Highlights project, and then if I delete those first 5 large files (they are backed up on 2 other 3Tb external HDs), can I keep doing this (reloading the next 5 large .dv files to work with), and ultimately take each of my kid's Highlights project and export as a .4mv movie EVEN THOUGH the earlier large .dv files are no longer on my internal HD, OR does my iMac need to have all these larger files loaded on my internal HD for me to eventually export each of my kid's Highlights project to a .4mv movie?
I have a 2011 era 27" iMac desktop w 2Tb HD internal and 250 Gb flash drive, and Lion OSX and iMovie 11.

Thanks. I tested it out and you were correct. I loaded 2 .dv movies from my external HD back onto my internal HD, and got them re-imported into iMovie, took a few short clips from each of the 2 iMovie events and pasted them into a new project in the Project Browser. Then I deleted these 2  "source clips" from my internal HD, closed iMovie and then re-opened it and found that iMovie would NOT export the smaller clips for a "highlights" .4mv movie without the "source clips" being available.
I read your link on Quicktime. It talks about mostly trimming, which is what I did with each iMovie event before I took each one as a project to export as a smaller .4mv file. But if I use Quicktime (do I need QT Pro or basic), what advantage is it to me to use QT over iMovie (I must admit I am a novice at iMovie and have never used QT or QT Pro as a tool)? Will it then convert any edits I make to a .m4v movie or do I need iMovie to do that?
Does QT allow trimming multiple segments out of a movie during one edit session, or can you only do 1 at a time? By that I mean that, for example, when I use Sonys Picture Motion Browser for my .mts movies, you can only set one Start and one End point for each edit/trim you do: it does not allow you to set multiple Start Stop points like iMovie allows in its Event or Project browser. You can only do one "trim" at a time, save it and then reopen to do another trim. not very useful.

  • Importing clips from iMovie project (they keep ending up in the trash)

I have never tried to import other clips from another iMovie project before and I just tried it yesterday. This is what I did:
-I went into the other project and clicked on each individual clip from that project that I wanted (one at a time).
-I copied that clip and then saved it to the desktop
-From there I copied those clips to my external drive (which holds the new project that I am working on
-I then opened up the new project in iMovie
    -I went to File<Import
-I selected the clips that I had copied over to the external drive
    -I imported them
-They all showed up fine, they played fine and I was able to edit them and put them into the time line as well
The problem I face though is after I save the project and exit, the next time I open the project, each of those clips are missing and have been placed in the trash
    What am I doing wrong?
Thanks ahead of time for your help!

It sounds like something may be preventing iMovie from properly saving the project on the external drive. The drive format may be wrong, or third-party software might be causing conflicts. More here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1852869#1852869
Another possibility is that you are opening the wrong project file saved inside the iMovie 5 project. If your project was originally an iMovie 4 project converted to iMovie 5 that's an easy mistake to make. More here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=1971832
Note that the copy/export/import routine you used can be simplified enormously. iMovie 5 lets us Copy and Paste clips much more simply. To copy clips from Project A to Project B, open Project A, select all the clips you want copied to Project B, choose Edit > Copy, open Project B, move the playhead where you want to place the clips, and Paste. iMovie will import all the files that support those clips from Project A to Project B. Note that it imports the entire file for the clip, not just the clip itself. That's so the clip inherits all the non-destructive editing features it had in Project A.
To avoid Project B becoming unnecessarily large, it's important to Copy and Paste all the clips you want together. If you copy two clips at the same time that share the same file iMovie imports their source file just one time. But if you Copy and Paste two clips that share the same source file separately, iMovie imports the same file twice.

  • Batch export of multiple clips from one video in Premiere CS4

    Hello,
I'm really in a bind and hope you guys can help me out. I have about 30 hours of video in about 30 mpg files..1 hour in each video. I need to splice out small clips from each video..anywhere from 10 to 20 clips in each and send them to Media Encoder to store as video files I can then re-use. In CS3 I can do this manually one clip at a time ..set In point, Out point and then export. This however takes a very very long time....set the ins/outs, then export, then wait, then repeat..very tedious
In CS4 can i set multiple ins/outs for the entire video and then have premiere go to work and do a batch export? Or is there another way of doing this? I have about a week left to get this done and at a total of about 450 clips to export each 2-5 mins for encoding this will take forever...plase help!
    Stan

It wont do exazctly what you want but.... But the batch encoding should save you some time since you can continue to work while it encodes/exports.
Do you need to make more than one output type? Like DV, WMV, FLV... for each one? If so, I suggest this workflow:
    1. Open source file 1 in Source monitor set in and out, ctrl drag subclip to a folder in the project panel.
    2. Repeat step 1 for any other subclips needed from source clip 1
    3. When done with first source clip go into bin where you put your subclips click on them one at a time and do export/media to your lowest compressed need (like DV AVI for example); it will be added to AME queue
    4. Repeat step 3 for all subclips, then click start queue.
    5. While AME is exporting all the subclips for your first source clip, repeat steps 1-3 on source clip 2...
When you are all done; if you need to make multiple output types for each file; Do (IN AME) File>New>Watch Folder
Create a Watch folder for each output type you want. Then simply copy all the exported clips you want inot each of these folders and AME will process them all for you in batch.
It doesnt do exactly what you wished for; but should save you a few buckets of time.
