I touch is not recognized
I purchased a new computer about 2 months ago. All programs transferred over except for itunes. It was downloaded and installed (current version. My touch will not sync with my itunes and on diagnostic checks the error comes up that my device is not recognized. When the device is connected to the computer it doesn't come up in itunes either. Apple care has been of no help at all to me. We have installed and uninstalled appx. 5 times now.

Your Touch is working correctly. Currently, without unsupported third party hacks, the Touch has NO disc mode. It will only show up in iTunes.

Right now, you don't. The SDK is scheduled to be released in Feburary. Then developers will be able to write programs that will be loadable. -

My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or even give me the battery sign that it is dead. I turned it off and it won't turn back on now. The screen is completely black and won't do anything. I have tried charging it over night and nothing happened. It was never near water. I have tried troubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but nothing happened and it didn't work. What can I do to fix it?

2nd generation touch ipod not recognized by itunes or Macbook
2nd generation touch ipod is no longer recognized by itunes. The ipod has been reset and the only screen image is the itunes icon with an arrow and a USB cord connection pointing to the itunes icon.

What does the iPod's screen say or do, when you connect it to USB port on the computer?
The article referenced is for "regular" iPods. An iPod touch is an iOS computer, so this article would be more appropriate for troubleshooting.

Be sure to rule out a faulty USB cable as the cause. Try another cable, or try the cable you have with another device that has a dock connector.
Also, you should do this test to rule out a problem with the USB port (such as lack of power or USB device conflict). Shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices, including any hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used). If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).
Then, start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer. If it still does not connect, connect something else to the same USB port to confirm it is working. Preferably, use something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive. -

Just what have you tried. There are many Apple articles on the subject and it easy to miss one or more. Did it work before? Did you do anything to the computer since it last worked? oDoes the iPod work OK? Have you tried:

Does it light up at all? If not, you could have a battery issue.

I have a nano, a shuffle, and an I touch. My nano and shuffle sync fine but my I Touch is not recognized by either Itunes or my computer and the message I get says to go to my nearest Apple Store. The nearest store is 200 miles away from me. I'm pretty sure my warranty has expired.
I have charged it fully although it was not charged when I started trying to sync. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes.

Thanks.I just installed the latest iTunes. It found my 64GB touch 3G no problem. An hour later, it no longer can recognize it (iTunes takes forever to load). This happ4ned 2 weeks ago, with the last iTunes upgrade. I had to restore it, losing everything on it. I won't do that again. I did not hing to my computer/itouch between working an hour ago and now. My iTouch is less than a year old. There is no excuse for it to be broken. There are no Apple stores by me, either. There is no reason for the iTouch to stop being recognized randomly.
