I tried disk utilities but nothing

I am trying to make a vacation video, and when I tried to burn it it always got to the end after several hours and told me that it had errors in the encoding. So I went and made a save as disk image. I have an exra hard ware for the memory cause it is over an hour long. But it burned the image but said there were errors. When I went to disk utitlities it sees it but wont let me burn it and when I tried to repair it, it gave me an error 16? What is my problem?
As a side note, I didn't let my video letter box fully might that cause the error?

Hi
Things to concider when using iDVD.
- there has to be lot's of space on Your internal hard disk. Can't use external
disks as scratch disks.
25Gb is a thumb role
If You store material/movies on an external hard disk. It has to be:
- Mac OS Extended (journaled) formated
- Mac OS Exchange/DOS/UNIX - WILL NOT DO !!
- a FireWire disk is to prefere. UBS will not work. USB2 might work but
there is lot's of people haveing problems with this.
Yours Bengt W
