I tried hard to love the WRT1900AC

But three days of torment and issues solved that problem for me. This product has loads of potential, I hope it lives up to some of it. In the hopes that Linksys listens, here was my experience.
Annoyances
You cannot assign a static lease outside of the DHCP Address Pool. Example, printers are .10 thru 20 and I want my dynamic pool to be .50 thru .100. Nope, printers would have to be in the .50 thru .100 range.
The second issue is that I cannot add static leases unless the router has seen the device. There is no manual way to enter MAC address. This makes quick setup painful since you essentially have to reboot network appliances to get the router to see them so you can manipulate them. Then after they get an address you don't want them to have, make them static, give the address you want, then go back and reboot the device! This turned what could have been a 20 minute setup into hours...
Scheduled radio turn off is limited since I cannot schedule a guest network to shut off.
Categories are not intuitive. Administration is really in Connectivity? I didn't realize reboot was only done for troubleshooting.
Parental Controls needs a copy schedule.
Guest network should have an option to limit bandwidth and have a schedule like the regular network. I want to kill the guest network but leave the main network functional.
Having devices and allowing us to name is a great idea, but, if we are going through that amount of trouble, provide local name resolution for the name we edit.
Issues
The system would hang frequently. Cycling power while it was hung would reset all settings. Not a good design.
Unexplained loss of WAN connection. The connection from the cable modem was good (plugged laptop in and it worked without issue). Required restart. Happened twice, usually after powering up a new to the router wireless device.
Twice I would get unexpected errors and the media prioritization wouldn't work without unexpected errors. Hard reset using back button and starting over resolved the issue.
I would block all internet access for my IP Cameras using parental controls but they would still show up in the internet usage as having used bandwidth. I didn't waste time testing on another device since I was stuck having to reboot devices so the router could see them so I could assign addresses.
Port forwarding for HTTP when using both instead of TCP wouldn't work. Setting it to TCP would allow it to work.
This router reset on me 3 times. The 4th time I put it in the box and gave it a ride back to the store. I hope they fix some of the issues so I can repurchase when it is a bit more mature...

I took it back yesterday. I normally don't deal with consumer level equipment but for the price I expected something that has undergone a bit more quality assurance testing. It is a very intriguing device and I primarily wanted the ease of setting parental policies via my phone.If it stabilizes I'll be back to buy one, but for now I replaced the PC running RouterOs and fired my access points back up.

I'm going to be as descriptive as possible, in a hope to actually pinpoint an issue.
Not too long ago, my "Lock" function starting acting wonky. It'd lock itself while "Unlocked", and vise versa. This happened for a few days, while all other functions (including connectivity to iTunes and my computer. Then the ipod went black overnight. I tried to hard-reset, and it left the Apple logo on my screen for several minutes before going black again. I locked, unlocked, and according to other reports on this Support page, attempted to Hard Reset, and then try to go into Disk and/or Diagnostic mode. Neither of which worked. I then read that perhaps Hard Resetting, and then immediately plugging in to a computer might for some reason work - it didn't. The device is recognized by my computer, most of the time, but not by iTunes - unless it's asking me to attempt to Recover, which only stops 8/10ths of the way through and asks again to remain connected for recovery. I've connected to different computers, I've connected with different cords, I've tried every USB port in a ten block radius - no luck.
One day, I read that perhaps changing the default drive (C:, E;, Q;, et cetera) might assist in my issues. I had gotten Disk mode to function, and only made sure to put music onto the ipod that I was sure I actually purchased from Apple. I had music for one day, and that night it stopped functioning again.
At this point, it's a paper weight. I can get it to the Apple logo. If I leave it at the Apple logo long enough, it will prompt me with, "Please Plug This Device in for Restoration" - which is moot, as restoration never finishes and I'm S.O.L.
If I Hard Reset, get it to the Apple Logo, then charge it - afer awhile it reverts to the black and white "Do Not Disconnect" with the circle and line, but stays that way for eternity. I've tried Hard Resetting from there, nothing. I've tried Diagnostic Mode and Disk Mode, nothing. I've left it charging all day and night, nothing.
Right now, my last resort is seeming to bring it to the store - but the Warranty being expired, and $30 just for technical support, I'm not willing to go that far for someone to tell me THEY don't know how to fix it, or that it would cost too much to fix it.
Has anyone had any similar problems, and have had them resolved? Any other suggestions on how to get this beast functioning again?

My son let one of his friends use his ipad. The next time he tired to use it he could not get it unlocked, I tired to unlock it but it kept telling me that I had the wrong pass code. With out me knowing my son continued to tire until it completely disabled it self.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

First of all make sure that you've definitely backed up the movies to your external hard disc.
In iMovie click on any event you don't want, go to the file menu and select 'move event to trash'. Then do the same for any unwanted projects - 'move project to trash'. Quit out of iMovie and empty the trash.

I had "do not disturb" on in England. I did take it off airplane mode periodically, but I never actually used the network. I stuck to local wifi to do brousing and a bit of messaging. It periodically told me I was on an English network, but I didn't actually use it. And I had data roaming shut off all together.

There's an old saying. If you don't have a backup disc, then there must be nothing important to backup. That's just lesson #1. Lesson #2 is to never interrupt a software update. Not a good thing.
OK, I'm sure you know this. It just upsets me to read your story, knowing you have a lot of important stuff on your hard drive, and didn't use time machine.
You're pretty much in a bad place. My only hope for you is to boot to your Installation Disc, then using disk utility see if you can save the internal hard drive (by fixing what can be fixed). You might be able to see your user folder and some of your apps. I wouldn't even consider copying the library, because who knows what's been corrupted in there.

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.

One more thing to try. Double click on the home button. Scroll in that bottom line of icons (swipe finger to left) to the app that are all white. Hold your finger on the app until the - sign appears. Tap it to close the app. Hopefully it will then show up correctly. (As they say about chicken soup curing a cold, "can't hurt")

I had that problem as well and the apple support suggested to turn off the LTE-mode to have a running system and try to exchange the micro-sim by my provider.
THAT was not an option!
BUT it seems to solve my problem in the following way after trying a lot of possibilties:
In the menue properties/help (don't know the exact english word, because I run my phone in german)
I switched on the nice feature 'flash LED' by incomming calls, msgs, and push infos.
Today the flash feature was responding to different push notes very slowly.
By switching this feature off the LTE-mode-tochscreen-not-responding-problem disappeared.
We tried this on a other iphone, not having the metioned problem, and switched the LED-flash:
the problem appeared. Switching the LED-flash off: problem disappeared!
It seems to be a bug that the LED will hint Calls and MSGs in combination with the LTE mode!
treated my phone very hard today to double check, but its still ok.

Please fix that issue in the next update.

There are no BIOS settings, because Macs don't have a BIOS. I don't use Parallels, but I assume it has simulated BIOS settings. You'd have to consult its documentation to find out how to change them.

It's a Finder feature, related to Quick Look. You can hit the space bar in the file list to get a preview.
If that doesn't work, you may have an issue witha preference file or similar. I find rebuilding the launch databse works quite well resilving tis kind of thing, as does trashing Finder preferences

Sounds like you bought the iPad secondhand and the previous owner did not remove it from his/her iCloud account.
If you are unable to contact the original owner, the iPad is (unfortunately) useless to you.
