I tried to download Firefox and my antivirus stopped it and kept it from loading. WHY?
I tried downloading a newer version of Firefox and my antivirus stopped the download saying it found viruses. How can an upgrade on the Mozilla website contain viruses? Why can't I download it?

Your anti-virus software might have a problem with the small stub installer.
Try this instead:
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon

Download them to iTunes abd then sync the apps. Make an appointment with Apple and see what the problem is. -
Trying to download Firefox and as soon as the "run" box appears Explorer shuts down.

Does that happen with anything you try to download in IE, not just when downloading Firefox?

Trying to download firefox and it comes up as Extraction Failed. File Corrupt.
Ive been trying to download firefox for two days now. When its done getting the setup file i open it and it Says the file is corrupt. Ive tried numerous things. Norton says less then 5 people have this version. Is it my computer or the site?
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading and installing work.

I am trying to download Firefox and it gets to about 95% done and then it stops.
I tried updating Firefox but it kept getting to around 95% done and then it just stopped. After about 10 minutes it would say that it could not download and to try from the site. I tried uninstalling Firefox to do a clean install like someone said online and I am still having the problem. I have tried using 2 different browsers to download it and it still gets almost there and then just stays there. Any help would be amazing
Are you downloading the "full" installer from this page: [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/]? If you are getting the "stub" installer, or choosing "Run" instead of save, try saving the full installer to the desktop and running it from there.
Also, if you haven't shut down and restarted Windows since this problem began, please try that in case there are some Windows Installer issues like an accumulation of queued updates or crashed component. -
I did the download for FireFox and when the download was complete a screen appeared asking me to run the program. I clicked on run but at 14% it said file could not be extracted error message. I don't understand why this happened and what do I do now?

LindaDon't try to run the program directly when downloading with IE, but save the Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double click on the desktop icon.

I downloaded Firefox 3.6. It asks me if I want tot save it. I enter save. Then it goes to the introduction to the features of Firefox. How do I go beyond that. Also, if I leave the site, ie-get off the internet, then get back on later, the website again asks me if I want to download and save Firefox 3.6.
After you download '''Firefox Setup 3.6.3.exe''', you must double click on this file. Usually, you can find this either on your desktop or in your Downloads folder.
Your Downloads folder is located inside Documents. -

I just purchased and Asus laptop, using Windows 8. I tried to download Firefox, and was warned (by Titanium) of all types of viruses, etc. etc.. I therefore deleted everything . What is this all about? I have been using Firefox on this computer for some time now and have not encountered any problems.
This may be a false positive.

When trying to download firefox 3.6.12.dmg to my Mac, OS 10.4, no matter what site I download it from, it will not install. There is always some error message. I tried to download Firefox 4.0 on my Mac Intel running OS 10.6.6. I get a message that it can not download because libsmime3.dylib is open. And now FirFox 3.6 has disappeared. What do i do?
FireFox can't open lots of files it isn't suposed to. DMG is opened by the Mac osx as a virtual volume file you just drag the FireFox icon to where you want it installed. Check your desktop for a FireFox volume... like a drive. Double click the DMG file if it is not there. This is how Mac works it has nothing to do with FireFox, many apps install this way!

When firefox checking for updates and updates found but due to proxy restrictions it unable to download the updates then it continue trying to download that and this time it creating problem on executing javascript and raising errors.

Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:

But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:

So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:
