I tried to download ios 7.0.3. my phone has a picture of a cord and itunes telling me to plug into itunes. when i did it wouldnt let me do anything. i tried to reset it and it wouldnt. what do i do
I tried to download IOS 7.0.3 to my iphone 4 and a screen popped up that shows a cord with an arrow to itunes. i connected it to itunes and a little screen popped up with my phone on it. The only option on their for me to click was cancel or reset. I decided to reset it and when it said it was finished a screen popped up on my computer that said that something was preventing the download from happening. I did this 3 times. Nothing has worked.I unplugged it and held the lock and home button together and an apple came up, so i did it again and it told me to plug into itunes again. Its been like this since yesterday so please help me.
it says " itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. you must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes" so i restore it and after it gets finished it says " the iphone :iphone" could not be restored. the device cannot be found" but ive used this itunes since i got this phone.

I am trying to download iOS to my iphone. Don't have software update showing after I tap general under settings. What do I do?
Hello kcmercier,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are trying to update your iPhone but do not see Software Update as an option. The ability to update iOS over Wi-Fi was introduced in iOS 5; it sounds like the iPhone you are currently using may be on iOS 4 or earlier. You can update your iPhone; however, using iTunes on a computer. Please follow the instructions in the Update your device using iTunes section of the attached article to complete this process.

Yesterday I tried upgrading my iPhone 5 to 8.3. Phone told me not enough storage so deleted some stuff and proceeded. It then had a circle going round and round and wouldn't do the upgrade. I had to restart my phone a couple of times but it seemed ok. This morning went out with it 100% charged. Noticed it wasn't getting any phone signal so attempted a restart. Since then all i get is the apple logo on a black screen for a few seconds then it goes and nothing else happens.
I have tried leaving the phone in. Tried turning the volume switch on and off then restarting. Tried plugging it in to computer to do a recovery from iTunes but it's not showing on iTunes (which is up to date). Does this mean it's completely dead? It's infuriating as I'm a month away from a free upgrade from O2!!!
Any ideas gratefully received.what you do is you put your phone into DFU mode, you do this by powering off your phone and then, hold home and sleep button, the apple logo will come up after it goes away let go of sleep button and hold home until it says connect to iTunes. This should work, it will give you the option to restore or back up your phone.

I recently upgraded to the 5s, so I delegated my old iPhone 4 to a music player/daughter checking instagram and email. Three days ago I plugged the iPhone 4 into iTunes to update it, the OS began updating. During the update my computer went into sleep mode, interrupting the OS update. Now the phone will not do anything but show the screen with the graphic indicating to plug the phone into iTunes. I've tried a hard reset (holding down power button/home button), plugging the phone into iTunes before/during holding down the home button, holding down the buttons for various lengths of time in various permutations according to info I've found online, etc, and nothing happens beyond a brief showing of the Apple logo and then back to the same screen. iTunes will make a connection noise when the phone is plugged in but otherwise makes no indication that a device is plugged in (no iPhone button in the tool bar, etc.). Any ideas or do I need to take it to an actual Apple store and hope they don't tell me it is completely bricked?
Yep, done all that. Repeatly. Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all. iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone. Just....nothing.

i cant get into my iphone to update it when on charge it tells me to plug in to itunes and when i take it off the charge to plug it into itunes the screen goes blank and when i plug it into the pc the apple symbol will come up for a few seconds then the screen goes blank and it keeps doing that anyone know what the problem is??
Try placing the device in DFU mode (google it).
If it will not enter DFU mode, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -

All that happens is the light on the front of the apple tv flashes rapidly. Itunes is not recognising the apple tv being plugged in, so I cannot attempt the factory reset. Help!
Welcome to the Apple community.
Have you made sure that you have removed all the cables other than the USB cable when connecting with Apple TV to iTunes. Also make sure that you have connected the Apple TV to a powered USB port. -
Phone frozen on plug into itunes screen after trying to update
I have an iphone 5 and I just updated my itunes to update my phone for iOS7. There was a message that said it could'nt update and then my phone became frozen on the screen that tells me to plug into itunes. I am plugged into itunes but my computer/phone is not recognizing that and I can't get off of that screen. I have tried to turn off my phone and back on, unplug it and plug it back in and nothing. what do I do?
I had the same problem after updating...I thought that was my phone's problem, so I restored it...unfortunately, i had forgotton my password...I need that password to restore my iphone back up.
Any idea how to recover this password.... Thanks much -
When my iPad prompted me to upgrade to IOS 7.1, I selected the upgrade. All went well until the iPad prompted me to plug into iTunes. I plugged it to a laptop, then the message on the laptop stated "iPod is in Recovery Mode" Nothing worked to get the iPad to complete the upgrade, not even an attempt to restore iPad to factory settings - it is stuck in the "plug to iTunes" mode.
Any suggestions to either uninstall IOS 7.1, to complete the install, or to reset it? At this point, it is a $700 papeweight.Pad: Unable to update or restore

Your Device is in Recovery Mode and needs to be connected to the Computer you Usually Sync with.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
See Here > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps..
Once you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad. After its been downloading for about 4 hours, I receive a message that there is an error and cannot download. How can I delete this download from my settings? I tried downloading other apps, but it will not let me unless I download iOS 6.1
What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
