Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software can also cause these errors.

I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Is there a way to call apple and get a step by step of how to restore from another restore point? Does anybody have a solution????
It tells you to go to Error 13 and 14 if you receive error (-50).

Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting. I have moved it around to different ports.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this. -
My iPhone 5s is stuck in recovery mode and won't turn on, I've tried to restore and update it to iTunes and its finding my phone, but saying an error has occurred and won't work, the software is up to date, it just automatically switched itself off and when I try to turn it on, it shows the White background with the apple logo asif it's going to turn itself on but then switches off after a couple of seconds, what can I do? ive already taken it to a shop and he's looked at it, but said he can't fix it, thanks.

What is the cause of "error 1015" when you're trying to restore and update an iphone 3gs? My iphone is currently in recovery mode and can not get out of it. All the information about my iphone shown on itunes is only marked as- N/A. How can I get my iphone out of recovery mode and get it to recover and update?

Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
In other words, either your phone is jailbroken and you are sadly out of luck or you are trying to downgrade iOS. -
iphone 4 on verizon(16 gb) ios 4.2.1 tried to restore and update but got error code after download.... all the iphone does is sit there with the picture to connect to itunes. error 1015 usually means you have a jailbroken devices, which per the term of use of the forum, you can't get any help here.

Follow the steps listed below for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Did you just update the phone when this happened? Was the phone jailbroken or hacked to unlock it before it was updated?
BTW, you cannot have iOS 6.1.4 on an iPhone 4; that version is only for the iPhone 5. Could this be your problem?
