I followed a prompt to upgrade and now when I try to open with Firefox I get the following message. You cannot open Firefox because it may be damaged or incomplete. My old Firefox remembers userID's and passwords that I need. How can I retrieve this information?

I can't open iPhoto anymore because "it may be damaged or incomplete"? I'd been making folders of my albums & videos & moving them to an external hard drive. I have years of photo's & video still on iPhoto that I had not moved to the external hard drive yet. This problem started after I installed iDvd so I uninstalled it. Also tried to download older iPhoto updates to see if that would resolve the problem. No change - what do I try next?

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
2. Reinstall:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.

If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -

I did not realize Iife was already on the new mac, and installed I life from a disk. Now Iphoto has a circle with a slash, when trying to open is says (you can open iPhoto because is may be damaged or incomplete. ?
This sounds different than with my IOS devices, since I am able to see the photos even with a connection to the Internet.
Do you mean without a connection to the internet? With a connection it's logical you would be able to see the PS.

This tells me that the image files are not on the HD unless the subscriber chooses to download them. -
Install rapidweaver and now can't open it because my apple user id password is not recognized

Hello everyone - thanks for reading & possibly rescuing me
OS 10.9.1 (all system updates applied) MacBook Pro Retina 8GB RAM - Original retail CD media.
Have tried to copy the installer & base files folder from the CD to a new folder on the desktop (same error).
Have tried to install booted into safe mode (same error).
Have tried creating a Read/Wright .dmg file from the CD in Disk Utility to install from (same error)
Have tried to add it through 'Steam' but as its just an installer Steam doesn't recognise it.
The game is available to buy on the App Store for download, but I already have physically bought it (Grrrrrrr!).
Any suggestions anyone?This is a very common problem with Mavericks and Mountain Lion. I had this issue so many times and many others probably did too. I went into Preferences-->Security&Privacy and select "Anywhere" under allow apps from.
If that doesn't work. You should repair disk permissions on your hard drive. There is a case where the files on the hard drive is not organized and therefore, the mac doesn't recognize it. Go into disk utility, select Macintosh HD or your mac partition, then press repair disk permissions. My macbook pro took 15 minutes for this disk repair process. -
Unable to back up external hard drive via Time Machine. Says no room but has back ups from two previous Mac notebooks on it. Tried deleting them and now can't do anything. Any ideas?
As john noted, eventually that external is probably not going to be big enough, but it certainly is for now. The HD just needs enough capacity to cover the amount of data on your internal HD, not the internal HD's total capacity.
Format/partition the external as follows and you should be set to go:
1. Connect the external HD to the MBP.
2. Open Disk Utility on the MBP.
3. Select the external HD in the left pane.
4. Click on the Erase tab.
5. Choose the Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
NOTE: if you want to zero the HD (which I always think is a good idea, but does take time), click on Security Options, click the button for Zero Out Data, click OK. The larger the HD, the longer this will take, in some cases several hours.
6. Click on Erase and wait for the entire process to finish.
7. Click the Partition tab.
8. Click on Volume Scheme: and choose the number of partitions (just one in this situation).
9. Click on the Options button (located underneath the Volume Scheme pane) and select GUID.
10. Click Apply.
11. Quit Disk Utility.
Backup your internal to the external. What application are you using to backup with? I highly recommend both SuperDuper! and CarbonCopyCloner. -
After downloading Pages upgrade I now can only open Word docs and not any of the Page docs I've saved.???

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
