I tried to upgrade from FF7 beta to FF7 and now I have no Firefox at all

I was using the FF7 beta. When I saw that FF7 had been released, I downloaded and tried to install it, without uninstalling the beta first. That may have been a mistake. It got partway through the install process and then asked me to reboot the computer. After the reboot, my FF shortcut no longer worked ("Searching for firefox.exe"). I used another browser to download the installer again and ran it, only to be told that I needed to reboot my computer in order for a previous install to complete. I rebooted; no change. Attempting to remove the existing installation in Add/Remove Programs has not helped, though Mozilla Firefox is no longer listed there.
I'm using Windows XP and my standard user account doesn't have admin privileges. This hasn't been a problem for Firefox until, perhaps, now. I've tried running the installer from an admin account as well, with the same result.
Is there anything I can remove manually to fix this?

OK... I found a Mozilla Support article - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The%20program%20must%20close%20to%20allow%20a%20previous%20installation%20attempt%20to%20complete - which says deleting xpicleanup.dat will solve the problem; but I guess that's out of date (or the presence of that file isn't the only cause of the bug), because there's no xpicleanup.* on my machine. However, elsewhere in this forum - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/786890 - I found a suggestion to install the new version somewhere other than the default folder. I did that, and it worked; and it even preserved my bookmarks, add-ons and previously-opened tabs. (If anyone finds this while trying to solve their own upgrade/install failure: choose Custom rather than Standard install, and just change the suggested folder name.)
The only remaining sign of the problem is the icon in my Quick Launch area: if I try to use it to launch Firefox, I still get the error "Windows cannot open this file: firefox.exe.moz.delete". Having recorded that here for posterity, I'll be replacing the icon.

Since posting the above, I have resolved a sensible work-around in regard to ebookstores which prefer us to have separate accounts for our separate Adobe IDs.
However, I really would appreciate it if anyone here can confirm that a DRM controlled book does actually become associated with a particular Adobe ID account at the time of first download to Digital Editions on that PC/device.
Two large book stores have said using my account with them to download books to our two separate Adobe IDs is OK, but I don't want to find my husband is unable to open his downloaded books.

I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion and now some CDs I use for school do not work. Can I create a partition to run both Snow Leopard and LIon or does it only work to run windows? How do I do this?

Getting a new CD from publisher is not an option as they would want me to pay for a new one and they are pricey. If possible I would prefer to keep my upgrade to lion but would go back to leopard if there's no other option.

You can add another partition on which you can install Snow Leopard. If you do, however, you cannot use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows. Just so you know.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed. (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Boot from your Snow Leopard DVD and install on the volume you just created. Be sure you set the new partition as the target for your Snow Leopard system.

Upgraded from Aperture 2 to 3 and now photos are no longer in photo book

I've recently upgraded my copy of Aperture from version 2 to 3 and after my library had updated everything seemed fine until I looked at a photo book I was working on. It appears that all of the photos that I had placed in the book are no longer there, and I am now left with a blank template.
The album I built up of photos to include is still there, they just aren't arranged on the pages of the book. Has anyone else experienced this, and if they have are there any suggestions for a solution?

After trying to upgrade, I got the error 3014 and now I can't get the iPad to do anything. It continually shows the "plug in to iTunes" icon. How do I get past this problem?

Can't restore, can't power off, and pc can't detect iPad. Error code 3014 when trying to upgrade. Can't even restore to original settings. Opened Hosts files and I did not see 127....gs.apple.com, or other suggested files. Pls help.

Did you see the very end of this about not having enough space left on your computer specific to therror code 3014?
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3002: If you experience this error while updating an iPod touch (2nd generation) or iPhone 3G, please use the standard update or restore process in iTunes (click Update or Restore).
Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again.

Upgraded from CR XI to 2011 and now my old 2005 SQL OBDC Connection is gone

I upgraded from a working CR XI (v11.0) product to CR 2011 v14.0.2. But when I try to open an old report from CR XI, it prompts me to a OBDC (RDO) Data Source Selection Window and my old Database connection is not there to select.
I use SQL Native Client 2005.90.3042.00 for my old SQL Server DSN Config with CRXI. How do I select my old DSN Configuration so I can access my data?
If I run CR XI, I can still connect with the above mentioned configuration without any problems.

That is strange.... I've never heard of that happening before. I have 100's of reports that have no problems. What OS are you using? CR 2011 fully supports ODBC and SQL Server 2005 and 2008. How did you create the DSN and is it a User DSN, System DSN or file DSN?
Actually we did not support the SQL Native Client in XI, you had to use the MDAC version "SQL Server" to connect. Not sure why it worked, likely because the SQL generated wasn't complex so it mapped to that driver easily.
There have been others who have discovered using the SQL Native 10 client that gets installed with SQL Server 2008 Client Tools works great for both 2005 and 2008. You can download it from MS's site, get the 32 bit version. CR 2011 is still a 32 bit application.
It does require you to update your DSN to the Native 10 driver, update, verify and save your old reports also to get them to the new CR 2011 file format.

I upgraded to FF 3.6.10. I have tried opening/starting FF from the Start Menu, from the Desktop FF Icon, and from the Program Folders Mozilla folder.
When I try to run FF, it will not start. In the Task Manager, FF shows up in the list of Processes -- for 1 second or less, and then disappears.
FF Safe Mode, however, will run.

I upgraded to V10 and now I have the Firefox icon but when clicked I keep getting MSN web page, what happen to Firefox?

I have had FireFox for many years and have upgraded each time without problems. This time when I upgraded to
V10 all seem well until I tried to open FireFox (icon) and it took me to msn.com home page. I uninsulated V10 and tried to replace it with V9, but it also took me to msn. I went to restore (Win 7) hoping it would restore me to the original setup. But then I could not open FireFox or MSN. I restored back to the most recent settings. Still, the Firefox icon keeps bring me back to msn. This is very upsetting since all my favorites are booked marked with FireFox and I prefer using FireFox over any browser. Please help. Thanks

Firefox is a web browser that grants you access to web based content. MSN is content provider. It sounds like your homepage has just been changed. Is that correct?
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].

I upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard directly and didn't burn a copy of the installer. I want to do a clean install now. How do i do it?

You'll have to backup user file folders to a external drive (not TimeMachine), disconnect.
Go to the MacAppStore, log in and hold option key while clicking Purchases, supposedly you can redownload Lion installer which you can make a Lion boot DVD (of the complete OS) with.
(If not c boot off the 10.6.x disks and Disk Uitliy Erase/format your whole hard drive HFS+ journaled and quit, install 10.6.x and Software Update.)
Once it's downloaded you can make a couple of bootable DVDs here. (right click on the installer icon in the Dock and "show in finder")

Now install Lion again fresh and you'll have both a new Lion machine and the hold c bootable disks.
Once your up on Lion, then transfer the CONTENTS of the User file folders back into their respective folders on your new configuration. If you use the same user and hard drive name as before, your iTunes playlists and song pathnames will be preserved.
If you don't want to make boot disks, then simply Command R boot Lion and the Lion Recovery Partition you can erase and reinstall Lion that way as it will download it from the Internet (slow and glitchy)
Having the Lion boot disks has it's advantages, as you can reinstall Lion on a new hard drive you replace as well as other machines without needing the Internet.

I have used Firefox for years on my Mac laptop for years, I tried to update to version 4 and now I have no Firefox and every time I download the the Firefox the emblem has a awhite circle with a cross through it, so I can't drag it to applications.

The support page is ridiculous, it assumes you already have Firefox and that the install went fine. I am having trouble with an update to Version 4. I have an ibook G4 running OS X. I have used Firefox for years. When I downloaded the update, the Firefox logo thing that you are supposed to drag to the Applications folder has a white circle with a line through it. I have rebooted many times and have updated all other software.

Upgraded from iWeb 06 to 08, and now web address and links don't work

I recently had the hard drive of my computer replaced and the Mac shop automatically upgraded iWeb 06 to iWeb 08, without asking me (and they also upgraded iPhoto)... I didn't think anything of it and went home. The next time I tried to update my website in iWeb I was asked a question that went something like did I want to upgrade or change or did I want to go ahead or something? I foolishly just said yes, whatever, and did my updates to my website. Then I used Transmit to upload my website files to my web site host. The web pages themselves still all look fine in Firefox, but there is one massive problem: when I type in my web address, which is www.*****.com, in Firefox, I'm told: "404 Not Found - The requested URL /Site/Home.html was not found on this server". When this happens, I've noticed that the www.****.com that I typed into the address bar now has changed to http://www.******.com/Site/Home.html.... If I delete the "/Site" bit from this new "address" my website comes up! If I then click on the link The Albadukes e.g., this page comes up fine. I then click on Links, and this page also opens up fine. However, if I then try to go back to the page called The Albadukes, it doesn't open! Instead, I get the 404 Not Found message again. Here, I've noticed that the writing in the web address box of the browser has changed from "http://www.***.com/The_Albadukes.html" (which works) to http://www.****.com/The Albadukes.html" (i.e. with a space between "The" and "Albadukes" - doesn't work...). If I remove the space and instead add an underscore, then the page opens! This kind of thing happens in different directions between different pages within my website.

I realise the problems when upgrading to 08 and I wish it had never happened, but it did. So my question is: does anyone know if these link and web address problems can be solved, or should I just accept that the problems are due to the upgrade and instead just recreate my website in 08 (and hope that 08 will work OK on my computer...)? I am very very grateful for any help!!

Hmm, interestingly enough it works on my MacBook fine...just a lot slower but that's because of ram size. I cannot figure out what's the problem with it on my iMac though.
I've gone into Quicktime and deleted any divx files associated with that and still nothing.

Upgraded from LabVIEW 8 to 2013 and now VI asks to find the installation package for Run-Time Engine 7.0

I recently installed LabVIEW 2013 on a computer (running Windows XP 32-bit). The machine also has LabVIEW 8 installed, which is what I was using prior to upgrading. I opened a VI that was created in LV8 and then saved it and all its subVIs in LV2013. Now when I open the VI in LV2013 and try to run it, a window pops up asking me to find the "lvruntimeeng.msi" installation package for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.0. If I cancel that dialog box and the subsequent message stating that the installion files were not found, the VI appears (at least from intial inspection) to run normally.
I closed LabVIEW, downloaded Run-Time Engine 7.0 from the NI website, and tried to install it, but I received a message saying that it is already installed (as I had suspected). How can I determine what part of the VI and/or its subVIs is trying to make use of Run-Time Engine 7.0? Alternatively, how can I get LabVIEW to instead use the Run-Time Engine 2013 that was installed when I upgraded to LabVIEW 2013?

Yes I am running the VI from within a LV Project. After some more searching in the NI Knowledgebase I was able to fix the problem by using the following procedure:
1. Use the Measurement and Automation Explorer to uninstall Run-Time Engine 7.0
2. Restart the PC
3. Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
4. Restart the PC
5. Re-install Run-Time Engine 7.0 using a file downloaded from ni.com
6. Restart the PC
7. Open the project, close the project choosing to "save all"
8. Open the project and run the VI. No more messages about LabVIEW trying to find Run-Time Engine 7.0.
