I tried updating the software, now i cant use my mini ipod!
hey everyone can anyone give me some help, i tried updating the software using the updater, and i d/l the updater i updated via the software, then it tells me to plug it to the mains as it displays on my mini ipod... i plugged in mains and it doenst respond just shows the display image again(the connect it to mains one) anyone know what i can do, anyone? thx

I used the updater on a photo Ipod and on a mini Ipod. The photo ipod had no issues but the mini ipod is presenting the same problem as Simon's. After updating the software, the screen asks to plug the ipod to the wall to flash the card. After doing so it showed me the apple logo and then back to asking to plug it to the wall. It's just stuck there. I have tried resetting it several times with no luck. I tried to plug it to the computer to restore it but since its stuck asking to plug it to the wall the computer can't read it. I tried to put it in disc mode and didnt work either. Any ideas on how to get out of this mess? Thank you

Wanted to update the software now available, but it is asking for a pass code. As far as I remember in didn't put in any pass code , how do I settle this issue . Earlier updates were asking Apple ID but pass code for updating the new soft ware not known.

i need help. i tried updating the software on my ipod touch, and it looked like it was working fine, because it said "verifying update", but suddenly the screen went black and when i tried to turn it back on, it only had a picture of a usb chord pointing to the itunes icon. what do i do?
Your iPod has dropped into Recovery mode. You'll need to restore it via iTunes on your computer.

Tryed updaTING my software now keeps flashing red light
morning all
i tried to update my BB software via black berry desk top maneger my phone restarted before it finished now wont switch on even the P.C wont recognise it tryed removing battery and even change the battery nothing seems to be workingTry this to put the software on device..
Open DTM - then application loader. on the first screen, connect the blackberry WITH THE BATTERY OUT.
Leave it for up to 3 mins till you see the pin number flash under connections.
Then press next and then replacement the battery.
The follow the steps found Here.
This of course will only work if you actually have the Device software installed to the computer as well.
To check if you do, open up desktop Manager - Help - About Desktop Manager - Click Device Software Tab.
In here you should see the software installed to the pc listed.
If not, go to http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/do ... _sites.jsp to download the software specific for your carrier/device.
Failing all this, your carrier should have escalated the call to RIM to do a javaload over the phone with you before they authorised a replacement device. Oh well not to worry.
RIM do a javaload when the application loader won't recognise the device, with or without the battery in it.
Also make sure there is no other power going to usb devices and if a laptop, have it plugged into ac power.

Well yes, of course your phone will have been locked in Japan because the Japanese phone companies do not offer unlocking to anyone, so you have effectively jailbroken your phone and can't get any help here.

I changed my email awhile back and have been using it fine until the other day i had to wipe my computer clean and when I downloaded the Itunes and pluged in my ipod I lost all my purchased items. where can i find them and get them back
They would only be where you put them.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If or some reason you failed to do the basics and maintain a backup, then you can redownload purchased music in some countries:

You only get one download of movies. It is your responsibility to backup your purchases. -

I update my software, which was suggested by mi Ipod "ajustes". It finished and it asked me to connect it to the Itunes. I did so. The Itunes updated the software, and it says "Debe restaurar su Ipod" ... when I try to restore my Ipod it says "error"... and now my ipod is like freeze with the apple like when you turn it on, and with the bar which is not moving.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

i have an activation problem with my iphone 3gs. i updated the software to io6 using itunes but now the phone will not complete activation because it keeps saydin the activation server is not available and to re try later. ive been trying for 6 hours but it still wont activate. if i try using itunes then it sayd no sim inserted when there is one inserted, what can i do?
You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money.. -
I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S, 16 GB to the most recent version (8.1?). I don't know what I was updating from, because I can't access that, but it was whatever was installed on it (I got it about a year ago, so probably 6.something).
It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync with my macbook plus, which is what I have always sync'd it to. (I backed it up and sync'd it right before I tried to update the software.)
Since it originally froze almost 3 hours ago, it shows a white screen with the apple on it and a line underneath. When I try to sync with my laptop, it says it needs me to enter a passcode on the phone, which I can't enter because the screen is frozen. So I'm unable to access the iPhone portion of iTunes.
I have tried to turn it off, with no luck. I have tried rebooting my laptop and syncing, but I still get the same result.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really wanted to wait to update the software, but I was having internet connectivity issues for the past 3 weeks, and Sprint suggested updating the phone's software.

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card. -

I hope that you can see this response. The forum software is acting quite bizarre today.
You really do want to restore with your own computer. There is an off chance that you might be able to backup first, but I really think it is a very slight chance now since you got the connect to iTunes screen. But on the chance that when you connect, it sees the iPad and allows a backup, I would to not have you wait to use your own Mac.
If you cannot create a backup, you will lose everything that you have put on since the date to the last backup. So of your last backup was three weeks ago, you will restore the iPad to the condition that it was in three weeks ago.
If you do a lot of traveling, using iCloud for backups might be a very good idea. I use iTunes primarily and I backup my MacBook Pro with Time Capsule, but I still use iCloud as a secondary backup. I don't have enough data that I have exceeded the free 5 GB that you get with iCloud, so I do use it just in case.
I can't explain what happened with the update, I can only tell you that it does happen to other users. I have never had a problem when I updated and I having been updating over WiFi since iOS 5 came out. Taking a guess, maybe an interruption in the connection - especially of you tried updating using a hotel's WiFi network, or a power surge maybe. Whatever the cause, it is most likely a one time thing. That doesn't help your situation I know, but hopefully it won't happen again.
