I-Trigue 5600 5.1 sound from my DVD player

Hi all,
I've got a JVC DVD player which includes DTS/Dolby decoder etc and has Optical and Coaxial Digital outputs. Is there any way to connect this to my I-Trigue speakers to get proper 5.1 surround sound or do I have to stick with just connecting the Audio Out L/R to the speakers and having it set on UpMix to get pseudo (sp?) 5.1
Thanks for the help folks.
Regards,
Tim.

Tim,
Does your DVD player have 6 RCA audio output that's normally meant for connect a 5.1 speaker system or does it only have optical and coaxial output?
If the player have 6 RCA output, you can get a stereo minijack to dual RCA cable. Plug the minijack end to the subwoofer audio input and RCA end to the player.
If not, you can look at options like the DDTS-100 decoder that spots optical/coaxial input.

  • Is It Possible To Get 5.1 Digital Sound from a DVD Player or my P

I use my computer as my home entertaniment system as it has a TV Card and all that. I have my Dish Channels coming in through my computer as well as my Playstation 2 and my Samsung DVD Player. So far I have never been able to get anything more than 2. quality audio from these sources even though they have 5. sound capability. Is there some external device I am missing. I have a Dell installed Sound Blaster Li've Card. Any thoughts on this would be prime. Thanks.

You can export 5.1 wav files from Premiere with no problem, what you can't do is export Dolby Digital 5.1. Premiere will let you export stereo Dolby Digital but not the surround files, that requires Surcode. If your playback system can cope with wav. you don't need Surcode but if you are making dvs or Bluray you do.

  • Take Sound from a DVD

I was wondering how I could take the sound from a DVD and turn it into an MP3 file. Any thoughts?

    With MTR 2.6.6:
Change MTR to Title Only (if you want the entire title to be a single audio file) or Title - Chapter (if you want one chapter per audio file), select the "D" button, then hit the "Streams" button. In the stream selection drawer, select only the AC3 track you want (or PCM if that's all there is). Then, extract the title or chapters you want. In the current version of MTR, you'll need to extract one chapter at a time if you want them to be separate, but in version 3.0, there is a MUCH better interface for chapter selection.
With MTR 3.0:Need To Donate To Get
Rip the DVD with MTR 3.0 in Title - Chapter mode, with 'demux streams' enabled, only audio tracks enabled (ac3, dts, and pcm, not m2v or subtitles), and 'merge chapters' disabled. This will output the audio from the selected chapters of the DVD, typically as AC3 files.
Once you have the AC3 or PCM files extracted, you'll need to convert them to a usable format. For AC3, get the freeware app mAC3Dec to convert them to MP3 or AAC. For PCM, get PCM2AIFF, or AIFF from PCM and convert them to AIFF format, which you can import into iTunes and convert to MP3.

  • Imaging from external DVD player or an external usb hard drive

    Hey,
At the High School i work at we are running Netware 6.0 SP5 and Zenworks
4.01 ir6. We have Zen Partitions installed on most computers to store a
local image in case the the computer needs to be re-imaged.
However, we have a dilemma. Every now and then a hard drive will go in a
    computer.
When we replace the hard drive with a new one, we install the Zen
Partition, do the config and then our last step is to bring down an image.
Unfortunately our only means of dropping down an image is from the network
either through normal imaging or through multicast sessions.
When we drop an image down from the network which takes up network
bandwidth, it causes slow downs on the users computers and they start
complaining. Our network is running at 100mb.
Is there any way possible to image from an external DVD player or an
external usb hard drive when dropping down an image to a new hard drive in
the computer? Currently I have all my Zen Images on the external USB
Maxtor 160gb hard drive and I also have Zen Images burnt to DVD's.
If so, how do I go about doing this and is there documents on doing this?
    Thanks!!!

  • Transfering a video from my DVD player into my MAC (IMOVIE)?

How can I transfer a video, which I can play my DVD player into my MAC (IMOVIE)?

    Hey Doug,
    Thanks for responding.
Here's the deal: I have a Sony Camcorder (that records on a small hard disc), which I'm borrowing to capture about 4 minutes of footage. THe Sony DOES NOT have a firewire port. So I thought that MAYBE I could play the dvd on a dvd player and transfer he footage form the dvd player to my MAC.
But jnow I'm wondering, even if I could, would htere be any "code" or encoding problems, since it is coming from a minidvd camcorder rather than from a minidv camcorder.
Maybe the best solution is just find a minidv camcorder and capture the footage on that (I just have to fiond one).
    Thanks,

  • No sound from my quicktime player

While using quicktime player to watch movies I am able to view the movies fine. However I am unable to hear the sound. Also When I play .AVI movies same result. Excellent video zero sound. Can someone assist me in this matter. I have done the basic trouble shooting of checking the audio level both in quicktime and on my Mac. Thanks.

You need to download and install these plug-ins:
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.

  • Weird tone sound from CD/DVD drive

Sometimes I hear a weird tone coming from my CD/DVD drive. It is a short tone that almost sounds like a warning tone. It does this when the drive is empty and it doesn't sound like any of the sound samples on the apple site. I have updated my firmware and recently I've had to do several force quits. Could this sound be related to that? I can still import CDs and play them in iTunes. I'm just concerned that this sound means the drive will stop working soon.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My optical drive sometimes does that after a while. I don't know how to explain it, but it may be since the optical drive is not in use, it resets itself or wakes it up again. I'm not sure if this is correct.
But if you suspect it failing or you are still concerned, by all means contact Apple and see what they say.

  • Excessive vibration/humming sound from the DVD drive

I just installed the new iLife 06 on my iMac (latest 17" with iSight built in). The disc made an excessive humming/vibrating noise. It was not visibly warped and other disks don't seem to cause this. Is it possible that it is just the way this particular disc is playing in the drive?

This may sound like I am reaching, but the label printed on the iLife disk has a heavier image on one half, and little to nothing (just a white background) on the other. The printing process builds the ink up heavily on the surface of the disk (you can actually see it raised up). This may throw the balance off just enough to cause the vibration, especially if the slot loads drives are especially sensitive to this. Thanks for your input, Eric

  • Interesting vibrating sound from my DVD drive when it spins up real high

I just go myself a Mac Pro, fantastique performance and I have need even been able to put my ram upgrades in it yet. One strange thing: when the disc drive spins up high, it cause two mysterious metal pieces to click against one another inside the machine. I imagine its just a strange contact of metal & I should just remove the drive and reset it, but I would like to make sure it is not a sign of some more serious problem??
    thanks

Take it into an authorized Apple service center. Some noises are normal, others are not, be sure the people looking at it have had sufficient time in a quiet room to hear what you are hearing.

  • How Do I Use my MacBook Pro to Watch a DVD From External DVD Player

    Hello Everyone!
While waiting for Apple TV to become available in my place of work, I want to use my MacBook Pro monitor for watching a DVD movie played on an external DVD player. The DVD player I have is an LPC-D1000, which is a new model. While Mac has its own DVD player, I'm trying to make use of my LG DVD player. If that's possible, please guide me on how to do it.
    Thank you.

You could use Elgato Systems' EyeTV product to view external video sources on your MBP.
There is additional cost involved, but it would achive what you want. You can buy the Hybrid product, and connect your external DVD player via Composite (red, white and yellow connectors) to your MBP via the EyeTV.

  • Watch DVD Movie From External Dvd Player

Hello! I hope someone can help me. I've been wondering if i can connect an external dvd player (not dvd drive) in my powerbook to watch movies. There are some disc that my PB superdrive couldn't read but when using my external dvd player it works. Is it possible to do so??? Thanks....

You will not be able to connect the external DVD player directly to the PowerBook. However, with the aid of a device like Elgato's eyeTV you can then connect the DVD player to the eyeTV, which is connected to the PB.
A relatively complicated way to watch a DVD on the PB, but the eyeTV does provide more options as well.

  • No Sound From DVD Player

I received my new (refurb.) 15" PB today. Everything works great except I can get no sound from Apples DVD player. CDs, iTunes, system sounds etc. all work correctly. Audo output is set to System Sound Output in DVD Preferences. Using VLC I get DVD sound but lots of dropped frame errors. Any suggestions?
    15" PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I'm having the same problem. I can play the video part of a DVD but no sound. Audio CDs and Windows sounds work fine. Does this mean I'm missing a DVD codec or is there a software setting I'm missing. The Nvidia codec costs money. Is there a free codec that will fix this? This is with Windows XP and Audigy 2 LS.
    cruzmisl wrote:
Ok I figured it out. I downloaded the Nvidia codec and it works fine. Shouldn't all the sw be aailable with the soundcard though? I really don't want to pay $40 for a codec I do not have the spdif bypass selected.....
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
