I try "Get Info" of my Macintosh HD and the information given is incorrect
I tried the "Get Info" option on my Macintosh HD icon and when it opens, the information that is given is incorrect.
I checked that info with "System Information" and I found out that I have 424.88 GB out of 499.25 GB.
How can I fix it?
If you really want to start fresh and you have ANY PERSONAL files already backed up, or you don't care about them, stick the thumb drive in the USB port and reboot the system. Hold down the Option key when you hear the apple startup sound, let it go after about 15-20 second. That will give you a screen where you select which drive to boot off of, select the thumb drive. Once that has booted go to Disk Utility and RE-Partition the drive. That will wipe all information off it. Once that is done close Disk Utility and you will be back at the original screen. Select Install OS X Lion.

• iMovie ill behaving - Trash the iMovie pref file - use to set things right
• in reg. to Photos - Did You change iPhoto Photo Library - Then iMovie get's lost as it peeks into iPhoto on start up to see where photos are stored. Set iPhoto back to first Photo Library (when iMovie is not running) then start iMovie.

Plug the stick and/or card into the appropriate slots on the side of your Air. Do you see icons for the devices appear on the desktop? Click into them to see what files are there.

Itunes 10.6.1.7 problem: when I change the file "media type" from 'Music' to 'Podcast' the file disapears from ITUNES. I do this via (1) right click, (2) select 'Get Info', (3) select 'options' tab, and (4) change media type. What is the problem?

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

I have an empty folder and 3 .jpg files stuck on my desktop. When I drag them to the trash I am asked to enter my administrator's password. I do this but the files and folder will not delete. Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

Whenever I close down Photoshop CS5 I get the message: "Could not save Preferences because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the get info command in Finder to unlock the file or change permission on the file or enclosing folders." What on earth does it mean? How can I stop this message from appearing?

when i try to FaceTime on my iPod touch, and the call gets accepted it says connecting... and then just goes to FaceTime failed. this started after a 800 number called my FaceTime. i have tried putting in several other emails & on diff wifi. suggestions??
i have also tried facetiming with several other people. the same thing has hapened every single time and it has always worked just fine until that 800 number called me.Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Some users have reported that Apple is aware of the issue.

I have lightroom 5.7 and a macbook pro 10.9.5. Occasionally when I am editing a photo in the develop module, I suddenly get a "file not found" message and the editing ceases to work. There is no "exclamation" icon below the histogram box in the Library module or on the photo in grid view, and the histogram is gone. What is going on? Trying to find it using the "find missing photos" in the library menu does nothing.

I am trying to open PDF files from safari, but when I click on them they open in a separate window and the information is encrypted. Any ideas on how to get them to open them in Adobe? Any help please!

If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. After update, Itunes can't load. I get error message R6034, attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I also get error code 7 (Windows error 1114), saying itunes wasn't installed correctly. It appears that I am not the only one with this issue. what is wrong with the latest update?? I tried removing Itunes and all of its components and installing it again, but get same errors and i have also tried doing a system restore with the same resultsDoublechecking.
