I am trying to capture using firewire 800 to 400 adaptor through a Sony HDV VTR. The VTR is not recognizing can some body help me solve this problem.
I am using FCP7 and IMAC with 10.6.8 version os

Does your computer recognize that there is a VTR attached?
• Open up system profiler>Hardware>FireWire. Does your machine show up?
If no, you need to figure out if the problem lies with the VTR, the cable, the adapter or your computer.
My guess is with the adapter. A number of people have expressed frustration getting fw400 device to work through fw800 ports.
If that's your problem, see if you can find an older Mac w/ fw400 ports or a dedicated fw800 to 400 cable.

ps - In "locking the barn after the paddle has been lost upstream" mode, this is why non-expandable computers like the iMac are so problematic. A MacBookPro with the expresscard 34 slot or a MacPro with 3 slots can work around these kind of issues. A closed box like the iMac is a dead end. Sorry. -

I think you are trying to install a computer application to use on an iPad. You can't. They are incompatible pieces of hardware. If you want Family Tree Maker for your iPad, then you need to get that version, if it exists, from the iTunes Store. That download can't be done via Safari.

Video Footage not working on my Mac but only on PCs.. i need it on the Mac!
I have uploaded movie footage from a JVC Everio and a Sony Vario-Tessar- both of which use the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) technology. The footage works perfectly on any PC computer however on my Macintosh when attempting to play them or edit them using Final Cut Pro the Sony footage plays but with no sound and the JVC footage claims it is not a movie file at all.

1) the QUICK TIME for Everio component from the CD-ROM that is supplied with the camcorder.
2) then update for the JVC Quick Time component for Everio which can be found at: http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/updateqtc_for_gzhd7/qtc3eupdate.htm This update provides latest compatibility for up to QuickTime Version 7.4.5 and Mac OS X 10.5.2.
3) Easy Setup files for Final Cut Pro for 60i (for USA) need to be downloaded and installed from: http://www.everydayvideo.com/eng/GZHD3/indexqc.php
On the same page there is a tutorial link with individual sections for recordings made in FHD or SP/1440CBR modes. It shows you how to convert the file to either AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec), YUV (uncompressed) format or HDV1080i.

Lately my iPod touch 4G has not been receiving photos from my wife through IMessage, when the photo is received I can see it for less than half a second, then it disappears. If I restart my iPod sete it shows up as unknown and a question mark, instead of the actual photo. I have tried reseting my iPod all the setting including network, and have tried turning off the iMessage and back on again. Other than that I don't know what else I can do, so please get back to me as soon as possible I would appreciate it.
