To delete a device backup you need to do it on your computer and not on your device because the backup is saved on the computer not the device

    I am trying to update my phone to ios 8 from my itunes but it keeps saying I need to delete my last backup but there is no option to do that?

    thanks Razmee...I wasnt aware of this. For some reason I thought it was all backed up in itunes and sitting somewhere in the cloud, not on a hard drive. Should spend more time looking into this things....how have people time for this? I mean, I dont even have time to go to the shops and pick up my 4S upgrade!!

  • My dad and i have the same icloud id,when i updated the software (to ios 8.1.3) i have my dad´s photos on my iphone.And want my photos back (i tried restoring my phone from the last backup) but still have my dad´s photos on my device.

    My dad and i,have the same icloud id,when i updated the software (to ios 8.1.3) i have my dad´s photos on my iphone.And want my photos back (i tried by restoring my phone from my last backup)but still have my dad´s photos in my device

    And that's exactly the problem, because everyone should have their own account for iCloud. You can share an Apple ID for iTunes & App Store purchases, but you shouldn't do that for iCloud (Mail, Calendar, Contacts etc. ... ...and Photos). The problem of using the same account together could mean that only your dad's photos were stored.

  • Try to delete a file, but SSIS think it is a path

    I have a process that reads file with different extension, at the end I will either move or delete the file.  Below is the code.
    I can run it with success if debug locally, it failed when trying to run the package.  Below is the error:
    The file received does not have extension - item_2290.seq
    Error message: Access to the path 'E:\myfolder\item_2290.seq' is denied.
    I tried different method and none worked, on if I delete the driectory.  I donot want to recreate the dir each time.  Please help, I am pulling my hair and no luck.
    Below is the code:
    foreach
    (var srcfile
    in
    new
    DirectoryInfo(SourceFilePath).GetFiles())
    if (File.Exists(targetFilePath
    + srcfile.Name) == true)
    srcfile.Delete();
    else
    File.Move(SourceFilePath + srcfile.Name, targetFilePath + srcfile.Name);

    When you say "it failed when trying to run the package" do you mean that it failed when running from SQL Agent but that it didn't fail when running from Visual Studio?  If so, then the SQL Agent service account doesn't have permission
    to move files from the folder "E:\MyFolder"  You need to give the service account permission or better yet create a proxy account.

  • How do i delete songs from my ipod? i got it used a while back and it had a bunch of music on it that i dont want. i went to my itunes account and clicked on music to try to delete the music, but my no music came up. music is on my ipod though

    i logged onto itunes and went to MUSIC under library and no music came up. I know that i have music on my ipod though because it shows up on my ipod. I am trying to delete that music. How do i do this??

    How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to sync with your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.
    If it's automatically, you must reconfigure your settings so that the album you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod.  Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
    Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents, you must manually remove content from it.  You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will open up a submenu of content, so go ahead and click on Music. Locate the track or tracks you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.

    how can I delete folders from photoshop elements 12. the option to delete is grayed out an I don't know what the alternative options are

    Got it fixed!  The Folder was set to Open With Terminal!
    Maybe when you moved it over from your other system, the Open With got changed?  To change this, in your Finder, select the iPhoto library from your User/Pictures folder and do a Get Info on it Command+I.
    Then change the Open With to iPhoto application!
    Then from the Finder, double click the iPhoto Folder and it will be opened with iPhoto!  WALLA it worked!

    My cell phone will not back up properly to my laptop.  I have tried three times in two days as I knew I was getting my new phone today and wanted to save all my information.  The problem is that it backed up very random things like things from my IPod from years ago, and did not back up all the information it should have from my "old" cell phone.  Now I am missing almost everything.  What happened and can i fix this?

    First, make sure you are using the most current version of iTunes 11.1.3 (8).  Second, what version of iOS 7 was your old phone running, i.e. 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2? If your back-up was made with a version of iOS that is newer than the version on your new phone, it will not sync. For example, if your back-up was of a phone running iOS 7.0.4, and your new phone was running 7.0.2 out of the box, the back up will not sync to the new phone until it is updated to iOS 7.0.4.

  • Verify Disk failed on backup, but Repair was successful: new backup anyway?

    Hi,
    I performed an incremental backup to a FW400-attached WD My Book, using Carbon Copy Cloner. The clone completed with no reported errors.
    I performed a Verify Disk with Disk Utility on the new clone, and errors were reported. Under "Checking Multi-Linked Files" there was an "Incorrect file hard link count" error, or similar. I was told that a Repair Disk was essential. When I ran this, under "Checking Multi-Linked Files" Disk Utility reported repairing quite a long list of "orphaned i-nodes". Must have been about a hundred. However, at the end it reported that the Disk Repair was successful, and a further Verify Disk reported no errors.
    Should I trust this clone, or do it again to make sure?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    That's the way I was thinking, but I guess I was hoping to get some confirmation from someone who knows about the specific error and how Disk Utility repairs such errors before going through the whole brouhaha.
    Anyway, it's moot now, as I've just discovered that Western Digital officially declared all their external drives unsuitable for booting on Macs back in March. See http://forums.bombich.com/viewtopic.php?t=11152 for details and links. So, the drive's going back to the retailer anyway---hopefully.

  • Time Machine running out of space but doesn't delete old backups

    First some context:
    I am running Parallels Desktop on a 2011 iMac. The VM is on a partition that is excluded from Time Machine.
    I have a second partition where I copy the VM every night using CCC. (This avoids TM backing up a large VM every hour).
    TM says initial backup is 220 GB. I have a 1TB USB drive attached. So normally, this works fine.
    This morning 100GB were copied to my Parallels Desktop partition. So TM should copy something in excess of 100GB during backup.
    Currently, only 15GB are free on my backup volume. But TM doesn't try to delete old backups. It doesn't seem to recognize the size of the backup. Instead when it starts, it predicts about 1GB to backup. Then during backup the amount grows (note that no new data is changed during backup!) and it finally hits the wall at 15GB because the disk is full.
    Any idea why TM doesn't figure out the real backup size?
    Here's the log from TM Buddy:

  • "Delete All Backups" command not working...

    I just started using Time Machine for the first time about a month ago with my new MacBook Pro. Recently, it started notifying me that it was out of space and automatically deleting the oldest backups, which I thought was odd, because my external Time Machine backup partition is 500GB and my startup disk only had 150GB of data (on a 260GB partition). Well, after checking the backups I quickly found the problem. I have three partitions on my internal drive, and Time Machine was backing them all up (I had thought Time Machine would only back up my startup disk). So I added the other two partitions to the "disks to Exclude list". That part worked and my new backups only include my startup drive. But I want to get rid of the all the backups of my other partitions, so I opened up Time Machine and tried to manually delete their backups, but it's not working.
    I've read that you can select the volumes/folders and choose the "Delete all backups of ..." option to remove them. I also read that it should take some time to complete this. But it's been over 24 hours and still it hasn't removed any of the backups I want to get rid of. And there seems to be no activity on the Time Machine drive. So what gives? Why isn't Time Machine honoring my request to delete all backups of these partitions/folders? I've repeated the process a few times, and each time the authentication dialog appears and my password is accepted, so everything looks like it should work, but it hasn't.
    My first thought was that maybe Time Machine won't delete the backup of a folder/partition that it's already excluding. So I turned off automatic Time Machine backups, and removed the two partition volumes from my exclude list and then tried again to delete all their backups. It's been a few hours since then, and still nothing is deleting. How long should it take? And is there some trick to manually deleting the backups outside of Time Machine that I could try?
    I guess if nothing else I could try and reformat the Time Machine backup disk and start over, but I shouldn't have to right? This is really puzzling...

    SOLVED!
    Yes, It appears that Time Machine CANNOT delete files that are locked for some reason.
    that's not true. it's perfectly capable of doing that.
    Originally I assumed that since I could not delete a file directly from within the Time Machine volume's "Backups.backupdb" subfolders, that I would not be able to unlock it. But you can! I simply located the files in the backup, chose Get Info on them and un-checked their "Locked" checkbox.
    something is really wrong with your backups. you should not even be able to unlock any locked files in TM backups as they should be all protected by hidden ACLs to prevent people from messing with them from finder.
    And the lock status change took effect! Then went back to Time Machine and chose "Delete All Backups of..." and selected the volume in that backup, and they instantly disappeared!!!
    That's pretty strong empirical proof that Time Machine has a problem with locked files.
    no, it's a strong evidence that your TM backups are messed up.
    I have repeated it with about a dozen various files that were locked and all behaved the exact same way. So I think this is pretty strong evidence to a "bug" in Time Machine!

  • When trying to backup my phone it's saying it's corrupt and to delete previous backup

  • The last backup could not be completed - iPhone 5 after iOS 7 upgrade

    I'm using iPhone 5 & iPad with Retina Display.
    iCloud backup was used for both devices.
    Now everytime I try to backup manually, it says 'The last backup could not be completed.' after iOS 7 upgrade.
    Auto backup isn't working, either.
    I tried several things like backing up using iTunes then deleting previous backups then turnning iCloud backup again, or turning off Camera Roll in backup option , or holding the power button and home button to reset the device.
    None of them worked yet.
    What should I do?
    I just have noticed that I cannot find iPhone 5 among the products registered with my apple ID below before I was posting.
    Is it concerned with my apple ID or something? Not the devices?

    since i upgraded to iphone 6 have the same issus. that includ in my Ipad - probably something happened wiht the Apple ID.
    nothun is working/ and when i plug the divces to Itunes - it says that "Itunes coulnd not back up iphone/ipad an error accourd.

    I deleted last backups and still nothing.

  • Backup 3.1.2 - How to delete old backups

    I didn't know where to post this question about using BackUp 3, so please excuse me if this is the wrong forum. I am not tech savvy, particularly about hardware or system issues.
    I have been backing up to an external drive, a Seagate, purchased in 2005, but don't have the model information. Do not use iDisk for backup.
    Today I was unable to backup because only 1.68GB remained on the Seagate drive. The most recent, successful back up was a couple of weeks ago.
    My questions:
    (1) Is there a way to safely delete older, incremental backups to increase space on the external drive?
    The Help files for Back Up pretty much provide specific instructions for iDIsk. They also mention forcing a Full BackUp before deleting earlier backups, but there's insufficient space to do so.
    (2) Can I just drag these older backups to the trash in Finder?
    Hopefully someone can help me, as I would like to backup the latest iPhone update 3.0.1.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ah, should've figured!
    I think since I don't have that or .me/.mac, then the Chat available here for Backup might be a better idea...
    http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/
    Down at the bottom click on Backup & Chat, then on Backup...
    Though one help file I found says...
    You can also delete backups created using Backup 3 by dragging them to the Trash in the Finder.
