try to download apps/update, but it doesn't starts downloading. (I don't have jailbreak)

Just what happens?
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing was lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Downloaded app update, but discovered too late it won't install

The app is Flashlight and the update is for version 1.3. Downloaded it to the computer, moved v.1.2 to the desktop, and changed Flashlight1.ipa (v.1.3) to Flashlight.ipa. Then went to sync.
The update would not install, so I unsynced the earlier version of Flashlight to get it off the phone and tried again. No luck. Then I went to the read about it in iTunes and noted it *requires firmware 2.1*. Current version is 2.0.1. And, yes, that requirement was specified on the description which I had not read until learning 1.3 would not sync. This was my mistake. If I had read it thoroughly, I would not be writing this post.
My preference for now is to remain with iPhone firmware 2.0.1. In order to get back the earlier version of flashlight and install it, I dragged the file from the desktop into the iTunes/Applications and clicked to replace 1.3 with 1.2.
When the iPhone is plugged into iTunes (version 7.7.1), a number 1 indicates an update is available. Click on that and then it tells me everything is current.
    My questions:
    1. Have I done anything that will cause problems for this app?
    2. Is v.1.3 hiding somewhere, since I replaced it, but did not manually delete it? In the mobile apps folder Flashlight1.ipa. Control/Click-->Show in Finder-->indicates this is the installed version. This 1.ipa is really confusing me.
    3. How do I make that 1 (update available) go away?
Sorry if this sounds confusing, but the lesson is learned to read everything before updating!
Thanks in advance for any help or reassurance.
    Susanne

Hmm. Just for fun I moved Two versions of a file to a temporary folder from mobile apps.
Bad move it lost all the apps.
Trying again I COPIED the items out of the mobile apps folder leaving the originals in place.
Then I right clicked (or control clicked on mac) and deleted it from the Applications in iTunes and moved to trash.
Then I dragged in the version without the 1 - right clicked got info - it was version 1.3 - trashed it
Then I dragged in the version with the 1 - right clicked and got info - it was version 1.3.2
    ====
Moral is if you copy out your flashlight files to another folder, delete the original from within iTunes then copy in the Whatever the second to the highest version is and drop it back into applications you should have an older version that should work.
    Should work...

  • Seems I need firmware update but it doesn't start

    MacBook Pro 17"
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz
    Version Boot ROM:  MBP52.008E.B05
    Version SMC: 1.42f4
    Apple SSD TS128A 128Gb, Revision:  AGAB0202
I always experienced short gaps in responsiveness of my laptop, problably due to SSDrive, but that never annoyed me.
Than this gaps became more and more long, especially after laptop wakes up and now are annoying.
So I searched for a firmware update and, according to the scheme reported at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237? ,
I found my laptot can accept EFI 1.8 Firmware update. But downloaded and launched it my MacBook reports that it doesn't need that upgrade and so all other intermediate Firmware updates for MacBook Pro (EFI 1.6 and 1.7). I connected my Mac to mains, closed all application and downloaded all with Safari 5.0.5. So what was wrong?
Incidentally in that scheme my MacBook is indicated as "early 2009", elsewhere as "mid 2009".
Apart from firmware upgrades, what can I do to solve that gaps? Thank you,
    Antonello

See if you can boot into safe mode by holding down the shift key immediately after pressing the start button. Keep holding the shift key till a loading progress bar appears on the lower part of the screen. It will take a lot longer than normal to start this way. If you have Lion 10.7 installed you can try holding command-R  keys to get intto recovery mode and run disk utility.

It keeps having me verify my billing won't let me download apps update apps nothing I don't want to purchase anything but it insist on me putting in credit card info please help

If you want to use your current ID you will either have to provide a credit card or redeem an iTunes gift card.  Otherwise you can create a new ID without a credit card to purchase free apps by following this exactly as written: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.

  • ITunes 10.4 app update not working - iTunes downloads available app updates but without any effect - it doesn't update the apps in iTunes...

Since a few days I experience following issue when trying to download app updates for my iPhone or iPad
    - I click on get update or on 'Download all free updates'
    - iTunes successfully downloads the updates and seems to successfully process them
    - BUT the list of available apps to update does not change! And when checking the version of the apps that were to be updated, they are unchanged
    Any idea?

I had a similar problem. My iTunes didn't start automatically when I connected any of my devices after the upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1.
I found I had to add the iTunesHelper.app in System Preferences->Users & Groups under my account on the Login Items tab.
You have to navigate to it in finder, because I couldn't seem to do "Show Package Contents" on iTunes.app in the Applications folder from the file dialog you get when you hit '+'.
Once you have opened the package contents of the iTunes.app then the iTunesHelper.app is in Contents/MacOS. I just dragged and dropped into the Login Items window, then ticked it to start on login.
Note, this will only start it when you log in, to start it immediately just double click iTunesHelper.app in finder.

  • Can't wirelessly download app updates to my ipad2.

I have been unable to wirelessly download app updates to my ipad2.  I can download them from my PC and then sync, but when I try to do it wirelessly, I get an "An unknown error has occurred." message.  Any thoughts?

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • My Macbook Pro downloads software updates but it won't install them?

My late 2011 MacbookPro downloads software updates but when I try to install them, it tells me that it's not supported? The software is currently OS X Lion 10.7.5 and I tried upgrading a few things but it won't install. For example, I tried to get the latest update for iMovie, which is crucial for my studies,  but it just tells me to update my macbook which is driving me nuts!  Help please?

You would need to upgrade to Mavericks to upgrade iMovie to the version now on the App Store.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?

  • Cannot download app update

I've had the Zillow 3.0 update in my queue for several weeks. When I try to download app updates, anything I have downloads except that one. I have removed the app from my phone but can't get the update out of my queue. Anyone know how to delete a pending app from inside iTunes? Thanks!

The iPhone is not doing the recognizing - it's being rejected by the iTunes/App Store.  Sometimes what's entered into the phone gets corrupted internally and not transmitted to the store correctly, even though it appears OK.  Try this:
Settings > Store > tap your Apple ID > Sign out > sign in again

Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage.  In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track.  Everything worked fine on Windows 7.  So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility.  As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store.  Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.
