Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
download iTunes again from Apple.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.
Windows is notorious for having "other" issues that make it unstable, we as volunteers helping others can't always resolve those issues.

  • Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message:

Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e3b",process orArchitecture="x86"". A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 8000FFFF
If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

I am trying to install itunes for my mobile, and I keep getting the message "You do not have administrator rights, please contact the system administrator to preform an update."  I have it set as adminstrator as the user. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. Help please?

Thanks, but I've done that several times & it still says I need administraive privileges. I had itunes installed with no problems until I did the latest update. After that it just disappeared, so I tried reinstalling. Now I can't sync my phone. This is so frustrating!

  • I keep on getting the message "missing .dll file" when I try to install Itunes on Windows 7 what is wrong ?

I am using Windows 7 (64) and keep on getting the message of "missing .dll files" after I attempt to install the latest version of ITunes. I attempted to install an earlier version and had the same results. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes to no avail. I have queried this message on Google and found little to go by.
Can anyone help from here ?

This has just happened to me - again. Can't think what caused it. I uninstalled Quicktime a little while ago, maybe connected? I don't know. Uninstalling iTunes, or repairing, or a fresh iTunes install does not help
Even if you keep downloading and putting the dll files it keeps asking for in the sysWOW64 and/or System 32 folder, Apple Mobile Device Support will not not 'start' from Services.
Anyway, as well as itunes, you need to also un-install Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Bonjour, then reinstall the latest iTunes to get it all working again

    hi rhapsody!
... okay, it's not that one. a pity because we had a straightforward fix for that one (upgrading to 6.0.3.5 or 6.0.4.2).
your particular message when plugging in an ipod, can be fiddly to troubleshoot. i haven't seen many commonalities amongst the non-6.0.2.23 reports and resolutions. so we'll work through various possibilities that have had some success with various cases of this.
first, let's try some spring cleaning and maintenance. download fresh definitions and run vigorous virus and spyware scans. if your security software providers offer them, do online scans too. (they can sometimes pick up malware if the security software on the PC has been compromised.) head to Windows update and make sure you're up-to-date in that regard too. do a disk cleanup, run your favorite disk checking/repair utility, and do a disk defrag. reboot.
if no joy with that, we'll check to see if you're getting an interaction between your security software and the ipod. as an experiment, try switching off your security software (antivirus, etc) prior to a synch. do you still get the itunes has message then?
if no joy with that, check to see if the drivers on your PC are up to date. this resource might be helpful with that:
Updating the drivers on your Windows PC
keep us posted on your progress.

Have purchased a new computer with Windows 8.  Have just installed itunes on it and now it will not let me open it!!  Please help

    Hello Jess2321,
I recommend this article named iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717. The name says Windows 7 but the troubleshooting will be relevant for Windows 8, although some of the locations in the OS may be a bit different.
    Take care,

With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:
You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program

  • HT1926 when i try to install Itunes for windows I get a message that says the older version of Apple Application Support cannot be removed contact technical support group.

I also get a message that says the Apple Mobile Device Support cannot be removed.
then Itunes ends the installation due to errors.
These two files show up in the control panel and when I try to delete them it says they are on a network resource that is unavailable.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Application Support entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, and Restart the PC. Try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I get this error message when i try to install iTunes on windows 7.PLEASE HELP...

there is a problem with this windows installer package.a program required for this install to complete could not be run.contact your support personnel or package vendor
can't seem to find an answer for this anywhere.

id just like to add to this again.after spending the last 5 hours trying to solve this and getting no acurate help from either the apple website or microsoft website i was given the answer not by one of the many computer geeks on the internet who tell you to delete this, delete that, download this or that etc etc but by someone in the same boat as me who stumbled on it by chance.
Solution...simply click START - ALL PROGRAMES - APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE
this will prompt you to update a file that makes your installer more compatible.click yes.once this is done a list will appear with a number of apple programes available for download.iTunes is on the list click that and it will install the latest version for you,job done.It really is that easy at last!!!

    question
help I am trying to install a cs2 on a windows pc running 8.1 it gives me a missing file message and asks me to re install them shuts down the program?

CS2 was not built to run on modern operating systems.  It's too old & no longer supported.
    That said, see these links:
