I try to open Firefox but it says there is already a copy open. I have thrown everything away and tried to download it again. It says the same thing!

I have an OLD mac G5 (2004). I have leopard 10.5 - can't go higher than that on this machine. I don't know what else you want to know.
I would like to know how to uninstall it or what to do to make it work. I can't open Firefox at all. It says there is already a copy open but I can't find it.

Ok I discovered my problem. Before I downloaded FF4 I had gone and dragged my "profile" folder onto my desktop. I kept getting the "a copy is already open message" and in my Apps folder FireFox was there but shadowed out with a circle with a line through it. I redownloaded FF4 after putting my "profile" folder onto a USB stick.
After I got FF4 reinstalled I went to Users>Library>Application Support>Firefox>Profile and discovered that I had no profile folder so I simply dragged and dropped the one from the USB stick onto there and bam Firefox 4 opened in all it's glory with all my old bookmarks and everything.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your phone and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on it, or the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

1. I do not seem to have firefox anywhere of my computer. Ive been using safari and as far as my computers library is concerned there is no firefox.
2. I have tried shutting down and restarting.
3. I tried making a new user account.
I believe the torbundle package is trying to open itself twice. Has anyone had this problem when trying to use tor on OS X?
This is getting very frustrating! Help please!

If you open Activity Monitor do you see a FireFox running? If so delete it.
Have you tried deleting and redownloading/installing?

Triple-click the text on the line below to the clipboard, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Quit Safari.

from the Finder menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the folder open.
Relaunch Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Delete them all. Select
File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Arrange the bookmark folders as you wish.
If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post again.

Itunes is frozen and the spinning beach ball stays on. i can force quite ok but on opening again it does the same thing. HELP

I upgraded to Firefox 6 and now when I try to open it, a window says there's already a copy of Firefox open and there can only be one at a time but there is no other copy!

I was trying to update my Firefox profile from my old computer and it didn't work and as I was in the middle of that process I was prompted to upgrade to Firefox 6 which I did. But now when I try to open Firefox, it won't let me because it says there's another copy already open. I have taken everything related to Firefox except the brand new version of it I just downloaded off my computer and I still get that message. What should I do?

I have a similar problem; but I think the cause of the "already running" message is that my computer crashed.
I rebooted before I learned to look for the parent lock file, but even when I knew to look for it, I found my original profile folder to be empty.
So I created another profile folder, and FF works, but I cannot access my old profile folder. When I open the location where it should be, nothing's there. But if I go to profile manager, I see my original profile is still there (and it has a location, it's where it should be - and where it's invisible, but even if I type in this location, nothing comes up).
I tried making all folders visible (I run Windows 7), but this did not make my old profile visible.
I want to find it because of the bookmarks I bookmarked recently.

I can pin three or four websites that load when I open Firefox, but I do not want a homepage to open full. Can I just have pinned sites open? At this point it looks like I must have homepage. Can a homepage be pinned?

I recommend you try to adjust to 29 and see if you can't make it work for you before you downgrade to a less secure and soon outdated version of Firefox.

I'm on system 10.5.8. Firefox 4.0.1 works on my desktop but won't open on the other user's desktop (although it has been downloaded and dragged to his applications). Check that you still have the profile that is listed as Default=1 in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file profiles.ini]
If profiles.ini is there, but the profile is missing then trash the profiles.ini file and let Firefox create a new default profile.

I'm not really sure what it means. It says: Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.

Rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the Firefox Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the file.<br />
You may have to rename cert8.db (cert8.db.old) as well.<br />
Firefox will create new files.
The file cert8.db stores user certificates and intermediate certificates send by websites, so if you have certificates that you want to keep then you may want to export them now and import them after having removed cert8.db.

I can no longer open PDFs on my computer. The first time this happened I deleted Adobe and tried to download it again. I consistently get "down load failed to initialize" when I attempt to do this.

You have some sort of issue with the external drive, I would use a powered USB hub first if it's not self powered.
Next I would be looking at purchasing software to direct recover your files from the 1's and 0's of the bits themselves on the external drive as it appears your directory or something is hosed.
Software that comes to mind is DataRescue $99 which you can download and test first before buying, then send the recovered files to another blank external drive.
Once you've got your files recovered, then your all set to mess around and experiment.
Try to access the files with the program version that originally created them, I'm not all that up to speed on iMovie, but I do know there are issues with using older Apple software versions with newer version altered files.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.
