Tried that. Unfortunately it did not work.

When I tried to open Firefox, it displayed a pop-up saying that 'The operation has been canceled due to the restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact system administrator'. Even if I logged in as system administrator and tried to start Firefox, it showed me the same pop-up. The problem started from today morning. Yesterday, I was using Firefox and it worked for me. But for quite few days even though if I closed the window it was still running. Next time if I need to start Firefox, I need to close it from the Task manager and then need to start it. Not sure how to fix this problem. Now, I uninstall ed the older version (3.5.0 not sure) and updated with 3.6.3. Then also it shows me the same pop-up.

You can try following solutions and see which one fix it for you.
Solution 1:
• Go to Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs, click on Set Program Access and Defaults.
• Open up the configuration whichever is selected and change the default web browser to something else.
Solution 2:
If you use older versions of IE then upgrade it to the latest one.
Solution 3:
Open registry editor, find
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command
change its value to
"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome
Solution 4:
• Open registry editor and search (Ctrl + F) for the value nocontrolpanel.

A user started getting this error message when clicking on any hyperlinks from outlook. We have not made any changes to his policy or computer. When I searched
the issue a Microsoft article said to reset IE to default but that did not work. I also tried re installing it completely but no luck.

Do you hava other web browsers (such as Chrome or Firefox) installed before? Did you uninstall the browser without setting Internet Explorer as the default browser? If this is the case, we may try the following steps to fix the issue:
1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html
3.
Right click the value for the .html key and select Modify.
4. Change the value from “ChromeHTML” (or
FireFoxHTML or something else ) to “htmlfile”.
5.
Repeat step 4 for .htm, shtml, .xht, .xhtml, .xhtm keys.
6. Exit Registry Editor and restart Outlook to see the result.

This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect....opening Word docs from link in web page

It's the ahla.org website. It has both pdf files and Word docs. The pdf links open in the browser or Adobe but the Word doc links open the option at the bottom of IE11 that just says "Open" or "Cancel". When I choose
open, it gives the error about policy restrictions or something similar depending on if it's Word 2007 or 2013. If I could even find an option to have it "Save" and open after download that would be helpful. I can right click the link
and choose save as but this is an office full of attorneys and they can't find the download folder afterwards.
This isn't the issue with Chrome being installed/uninstalled because it does it on computers where it's never been installed. It's not a group policy setting as it does it at the office or home PC.

the https protocol (secure web sites) works in any IE security zone.... If a site uses https, you do not have to place it in the Trusted sites list. It should work (encrypt) just as well in the internet zone (default).
Hover the mouse over the pdf/doc hyperlink... its uri will appear in the status bar or at the bottom of the IE window... note its address. IT MUST point to the healthlawers.org domain. It should also be using the same protocol as the current web page. If it
uses the https protocol, check "Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck "Do not save encrypted files to disk"
As I said.... it is likely that the above settings are controlled by Group Policy.

When I try to launch Firefox I get the message, "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". The only way I can launch the browser is to re-install it every time.

I cannot find any obvious restrictions on the computer. In the Control Panel under Set Program Access and Defaults, Enable Access to This Program is checked.

After Firefox upgrade just a few minutes ago, Windows 7 no longer allows hyperlinks in e-mails (Outlook 2003) to connect. Message is "This operations has been cancelled due to restrictions in your computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I use Windows 7 x64 with Office 2010 and the message I get is General Failure. the URL was:..... An error occured in sending the command to the application.
This only started happening after the 3.6.14 update.

Firefox won't open - get error message "this operation has been cancalled due to restrictions in place on this account..."

I can't open firefox - every time I try I get the above error message. This has started after no apparent changes or updates to my system, just a normal shut down. I have tried changing the registry .htm, .html etc. file names and reinstalling as suggested but this doesn't work. The only way I can open firefox is after I have reinstalled it and it automatically launches a browser.
I can open firefox in a new user account which suggests something has changed in the account I usually use but I have no idea what since I have not made any changes myself and can't see anything that would suggest it is blocking firefox from opening. I've run a virus scan and it is coming up clean.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be very grateful for some help.

After installing Firefox then closing it, I cannot open it, PC says it has been cancelled due to restrictions on my computer

I have run Firefox for over a year now. However I ended up with various pop-ups recently though they were easy enough to remove and didn't effect Firefox in any obvious way. In the past few days every time I have attempted to open Firefox, even right-clicking on the .exe file a warning pops-up saying "the operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator".
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it worked fine, only to return to that warning message after I closed and re-opened it. This has also effected Google Chrome in the exact same way even though I never owned Chrome until all this business began. Internet Explorer, which I'm on now has suffered no problems.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Which Fx version? When you uninstalled Fx, did you reboot computer before reinstall?
Also, check for / delete any leftover files in the Fx programs install folders, before reinstall?
Is your profile in the default location or custom location?
Have you tried creating a new, completely clean profile - to test (then make sure to select that profile to start Fx - from the Profile Manager)? (no addons or plugins installed).
Does the user acct (that Fx fails under) have access ("rights") to all locations - especially for Fx profiles location?

When I now try to visit a certain website that I used to go to all the time, I get the following message: "An unhandled error has occurred. A database error has occured. Error code DB-2002 If the problem persists, please contact the system administrator!"
