I Tune is not recognizing my new Ipod Nano that I received as a replacement due to the battery recall.  Any ideas how to get it to recognize my device?

I recently received my replacement Ipod nano for the battery recall earlier this year.  I went to go register it, yada yada and ITune wont recognize the device.  I have no idea what to do now.  I have tried 3 different cords and still nothing.  Any suggestions?  I am totally frustrated.
Thanks

Did you receive a 1st gen replacement or 6th gen replacement?
