I-Tunes 6.0 and Windows Saga ends Successfully

After having Itunes 4.9 for a while I determined why not upgrade to 6.0. Disaster - but it finally ended fine. Background - Have Windows XP SP2, and keep my songs on a separate harddrive than My Documents, My Music and Programs.
I-Tunes loaded but will not run
The problem here was that for some reason QuickTime was missing and some older files remainded someplace. I de-installed and manually cleared out all I-Tunes files as well as Quick Time. Be careful files tend to multiply on your hard disk. For me it was program files, in MY Music, and also as I Tunes Resource Help folder in My Documents. Then I emptied the recycler and defraged just in case. Load was successfull after all of this. Lesson 1: You need Quicktime. Lesson 2: Clear out old files.
I Tunes could not find my songs I nearly fell over as my 8518 songs were missing. Nope they were on my harddsick but I Tunes could not find them. I clearedout out the iTunes Library.itl and reloaded an older version. No joy. Importing or adding folder to libary just gave me duplicate files, and the ones I wanted (with my ratings, genre etc. could not be found. Problem was that for some reason the i Tunes Music folder (edit, preferences, advanced) was pointing to the wrong drive.I add new drives from time to time, and perhaps windows changed the designation or itunes got confused - I do not know which. I changed the folder location manualy in itunes, reloaded the itl older file. Still could not find the files (the dreaded ! next to the files) but when I clicked on the file it found it, now I needed to do that with 8518 files - no, no, no. I simply exited I-tunes and relaunched it. Success!!! Leason 3: Be sure I-Tunes is pointing to the right location, and be aware that location names change for drives that get added and deleted. Also I-Tunes is smart and re-launching can cause it to look again. Lesson 4: Avoid the whole add folder or importing, this never worked for me in past versions as it will find files but loose the user added information.
Final note, please back up your iTunes Libary.itl very regularly, of course your songs periodically. Note the file naming convention for older iTunes .itl is somewhat different

I upgraded to iTunes 6 and I click on it and it gives me an error message, It won't let me delete quicktime either any suggestions?

i have the latest (10.7) itunes installed on a 64 bit Windows 7 based system. Up unitil today I had NO problem running the TV shows that I have downloaded from I Tunes.
Today it stopped running all videos. It loads the information in the top box about length & name. An error message pops saying "an error has caused I tunes to stop working". "Windows will check for a solution and notify if therer is a solution."
Music plays fine so i know that something works on itunes.
Any ideas?

HELLO,i use a dual g5 apple,my son uses a pc with window xp. At one time both comps were at my house but he since went to school .We had i-tune loaded on both comps and he is able to buy his classical songs with my password with no problem and load it on his pc.How do i load the songs he loaded on his pc to my mac without paying for them again? Do not i get the use of 2 computers?He is a classical musician and i-tune is very useful in getting the new pieces that he plays for his orchestra.

Transfer the files with a USB-stick or burn them on a CD/DVD and run them on the PC. The iTunes on your PC will automatically ask for authorization on the songs. Click Authorize and you'll be playing on both.

CAD and Windows XP end of support

Perhaps someone might know the answer to this question ...
Currently Cisco supports CAD on windows XP, right up to the latest version of UCCX (v10). Does the end of XP support from Microsoft have any impact on this? Will Cisco support for CAD clients end at this time?

I don't know, and like you, haven't seen anything.
Here's what I do know.
Android dropped ALL support for Flash Playe June 2012 and Adobe continued to develop and release security updates for the older Android Flash Player versions up till September 10 of this year.
Support for Linux ended with version 11.2, but security fixes for Linux Flash Player are still being developed and released.
Given the still-widespread use of XP in schools and corporate environments, I'd have to say that support (at least security updates) will go on for a while after next June14 when Microsoft officially "sunsets" XP. How long that will be is not info I have.

I tried succesfully to sync my I tunes with my HP Laptop with the Windows Vista Ultimate OS 64 bit not 32-bit version.Has anyone been able to sync it succesfully?
If not does anyone know of a patch or when apple is going to come up with a version of Itunes that would take care of this incompatibility?

Try disabling your antivirus software. This seems to work for alot of people Tell me if this works for you as well.

Currently my desktop is not connecting at all, Everytime I connect, it's states "We have now logged you out" and requests I login again.
I have of course rebooted,
Gone into taskmanager, killed all the relevant threads, tried again to login through the desktop, no luck, I'll have to uninstall it, make sure the threads are killed, then reboot it and then reinstall it, but I've not had the time to do that.
On another note, and just as a point of reference, myself, personally, I hate these "cloud" file repositories (not to be confused with adobe cloud services which I love) but the file repositories themselves imho, are a blackhole of resource usage when one doesn't/isn't using them,
Is there a way we can use it more of a "ftp" sort of thing, when I want to I can put files there? There is no way to "Download" the repository, no way to download the folders.. only individual files and then it takes I think three different steps before the download starts.. I find this very inhibiting. Just an fyi. for what it's worth.

I second what Kate Li said. There's no need for a registry cleaner! Don't do it! I run Windows systems for years and they keep running as light and fast as when they're new.
What I *do* recommend is regularly reviewing the list of programs set to run in the background using a tool to show you what starts in various ways called Autoruns, which can be found here:

This tool can be used to disable things you don't need.

Just moved to Windows 8.1 from 7- what a bad decision I Tunes worked easily and perfectly under 7
I have Windows Media Player installed. I have a large library of Operatic arias under composer, performer etc. I can open them with difficulty but it then informs me it can not find the selected item and wants a file name- try various names , none suceed.

I have CS5 installed and operating in my MacBook Pro since 2012.
Several months ago, I ran not an issue where by, when trying to download PDFs from any website, I get the following back screen and message"
"Before proceeding, you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement"
The screen gives me no options to do this and, regardless of what I do, the same window with the same message opens…….
Does anyone know how to address this? FYI. I can use Acrobat Pro 9 to assemble and create PDFs, this is the ONLY problem that I am dealing with.

No, I was never able to get this to work.
What I found, however, is that I can view the pdfs normally if I use Firefox instead on my default, Safari…….not much of a fix BUT at least I can access the pdfs now……..I just don't understand why this seems to happen in Safari only………Safari is updated to the latest version via Software Update in Mac OS 10.7.5….

I Tunes and Windows Movie Maker

Having problems importing i Tunes music files into Windows Movie Maker. When I search for them, the do not immediately show up as Audio Music files. I have to force them to appear in the i Tunes file by selecting "all files". They then show up as .m4a files. What are these? Secondly when I attempt to import these m4a i Tunes files, Movie Maker stops responding. Can anyone tell me how to import i tunes files into Windows programs?

You're nearly there, tilleo. We need to adjust your Importing preferences to mp3 (rather than aac) in order to change the Create AAC version into a Create MP3 version.
In iTunes, go Edit > Preferences. In the General preferences, click the "Import Settings" button:
In the import settings box, try selecting "MP3 Encoder and "Higher Quality":
OK out of the Import Settings, and OK out of the General Preferences tab.
From now on, as well as seeing a "Create MP3" option, CDs will also import using the MP3 encoder, so you won't have to convert them for Movie Maker. (Songs you buy from the iTunes Store, however, would still be AAC, so you'd still need to convert those before using them in Movie Maker.)

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

As I said above, some of the new lightning cables have been known to be causing problems for some users. Have it replaced if at all possible by bringing it into your local Apple Store's Genius Bar.
