I-Tunes "disappearing"

Just a few days ago i noticed that my computer was not showing the I-Tunes program icon along the bottom of the screen when i hooked up my I-Pod; as if i-tunes was not even activated. I can tell that I-Tunes was indeed active because I still get the message "Windows is closing I-Tunes" when logging off. The same thing happens when I just double-click on the I-Tunes icon on my home screen: there is a hesitation and it seems like I-Tunes is being opened, but nothing actually appears on the screen. When i log off, Windows "closes" I-Tunes. This is not happening with any other programs, so i am really baffled. I've re-insalled i-tunes 7 and it hasn't made a difference. Is this a computer issue or a program issue? I miss my i-pod!!!!

I think the v2.2 tags are your problem, and something else on your PC is changing the tags, not iTunes. iTunes is not that smart....
I suspect Windows Media Player. It is installed on every PC, and the default iptions are to look things up on the internet. It can do this in the background, without you even thinking WMP has launched. Go in and look at your WMP options, set it to not update from the internet.
In my case, I had disappearing artwork with v2.2 tags. Then I would run it through a little program to figure out beats per minutes, and the artowkr was gone - because the tags for v2.2 were wrong.
After I converted everything to v2.3, disappearing artwork stopped.

Tunes disappear from folder - but still play in iTunes???

I can play songs in iTunes that have disappeared from the iTunes music folder. Maybe I'm fundamentally misunderstanding something, but this has me baffled.
Here's what's happened: I was looking at my iTunes music folder in Finder. I double-clicked on a song (an mp3 file); iTunes opened and played the song. But when I closed iTunes, the song was missing from the folder!
I opened iTunes, found the song in the library, and played it again. I did a 'Get Info' in iTunes and it still shows the song as being in my music folder.
I used spotlight to search for the song name, and it, too, shows the song as being in the iTunes music folder.
But it still doesn't show up when I open the folder in Finder.
Worried that something was going wrong with the file structure, I did a clean install of the OS (10.4.11) and upgraded to the latest iTunes (7.5).
Since then, I've replicated the process with two other songs.
Any ideas?

All of the PDF documents on my iPad disappeared. This seems to be a problem that a number of people have experienced, although a clearly documented solution does not appear to be readily available.
This issue can be resolved by deleting all the PDF documents in the iTunes library. Copying the PDF documents back to the iTunes library and then syncing the iPad will allow the missing documents to reappear back in the collections into which they were filed.
It is a good idea to make sure that you have a complete backup of all of the PDF documents in the library before deleting them.

You have your music on your Mac's iTunes library ? If not then you might be able to redownload some/all of your music purchases via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage (music can't be redownloaded in all countries).
To sync it, connect the phone to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your Mac's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S), and use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync it back.

Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Spilled water over laptop :-( lost all i-tunes music!!

Yes I know I'm really, really silly but last week I kicked a glass of water all over my laptop rendering it completely useless. I ost everything as nothing could be retrieved from the hard drive....Baically all my purchased music from i-tunes disappeared. I've bought a new laptop now and I've just downloaded i-tunes...is there any way I can get my music back? When I sign in to my acount it knows I've purchased certain tunes but obviously they're not there...help!!

Carob, welcome to discussions! Not to "browbeat" you as I'm sure you're stressed enough as it is with the lost laptop, etc., but this is EXACTLY why it is CRUCIAL that you backup important files, especially purchased music. Store policy states that purchases are a one time deal & it's the user's responsibility to backup important files. That being said, the store has been know to allow for a ONE TIME re-download, although they are under NO obligation to do so. With each download/upgrade, I am losing more songs

I should have been concerned about this earlier, but periodically, some of my tunes disappear or I find the tune and iTunes says that it can not find the original tune. Neither can I. I put my playlist on a removable hard disk drive. Everything worked fine for quite a while; then tunes started disappearing. At first I did not draw any connection to the upgrades; but with this latest mess, I started looking around and found my tunes broken down into several dated files/units which now appear to be a result of prior upgrades. How do I get out of this mess?

Sync ith only one computer. When you sync with the second anything acquired from the first computer will be erased. Syncing back with the first computer will erase everything synced from the second computer.
Put all your stuff on one of the computers and sync with only that one.

Iphone not recognized by Macbook

My i-phone4 is no longer recognized by my Macbook Pro from 2009. I have read other posts and tried but they do not work for various reasons.
1. I have tried restarting my computer. The phone vibrates but does not chime. The phone can then charge but is not listed in finder as a device.
2. I have gone through all the trouble shooting steps in support.
3. The "iphone" devices button in I-tunes disappears when I click on it.
4. The sync tab under file is grayed out.
5. I have gotten the error message that I-tunes cannot connect with my iphone while running the trouble shooter guide.
6. I am running Lion and everything is updated. I-tunes is also updated.
I would appreciate any advice and am wondering if I need a new cable. Thanks.

Msi fx5900&terratec tv problem

First of all, English are not my native language,that means I make many (even too much) mistakes,but I hope you will be able to understand and help me.

GA 8inxp
P4 2.4
512 MB ddr
Audigy
Terratec cinergy 400 tv tuner
MSI 5900FX-vivo 128MB
Win XP
After installing MSI vga,my tv tuner is no longer functional. Going back to Ti 4600(without vivo), tv-tuner works fine.
To be more specific, with msi_vga tv-tuner disappears from device manager and I cannot install drivers. Doing so via add_hardware_wizard the dreadfull code 10 message appears and,of course, tv-tuner does not work.
I have tried the latest drivers, including wdm(vivo and vivo_tv tuner) with out succes.I have also tried the last two drivers for cinergy.
Considering that cinergy works fine with my Ti suppose the problem is MSI's vga.So,please, don't adress me to Terratec.
Any sugestion is welcome, a solution is even more .
If a moderator or any one from technicall support team read my mail,please send me the bios of msi 5900/128MB without vivo. I am willing to try it.I have a hint that vivo causes the problem.

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

Have you deleted anything from your iTunes library ? Have you checked to see if they are still on your computer, but not listed in your iTunes library ?
If not then do they show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage for redownloading ? If they don't show there and others do and they are still in your country's store, then check to see if they are hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If they are no longer in your store for redownloading (or you aren't in a country where music videos can be redownloaded) then you will need to copy them back from your backup of your library/downloads.

I have discovered since then, that this resorce has been down over the weekend, which probably explains why I have had so many contradictory responses, so apologies if you all know what the prolem is.
My question is, my TIME MACHINE (which has not been used yet) was tried but looked nothing like that of the U Tube demo, so I am assuming that it needs setting up, however, it has been saving, I just do not know how to recover the data. Can anyone help?

(If you have a Time Machine backup, go to your User folder/Music/iTunes and select iTunes. Enter Time Machine and go to a backup of iTunes before the above happened. Then select 'Restore' on the bottom right.)
